After the adjustor with our Farm Bureau Insurance company gave us a cost itemization for a new roof, we contacted Recovery Roofing for an estimate. Farm Bureau had informed us that a check for most of the cost would be made payable to Kathy Eddinger, the home owner and her mortgage servicer, Select Portfolio Servicing. We informed Recovery Roofing as part of our agreement with them that certain documents were REQUIRED as part of our ageement with the all parties: Us, Recovery Roofing, Farm Bureau, and the company Select Portfolio Servicing used to distribute the funds for (SPS) called InsuranceClaimChecks.com , and the REQUIRED DOCUMENTS included: a contract, a W-9 form, a Wavier of Lein. Furthermore, disbursement checks would be paid in increments based upon the stipulations on their website, InsuranceClaimChecks.com. This was FOR THE RECORD, agreed upon with the understanding that these documents were the resposibility of Recovery Roofing p;prior to work comencing at this property. Recovery Roofing was negligent in its contractual agreement to supply this documents as agreed and as a condition of being hired to install a new roof at our address. Consequently, payments to Recovery Roofing were delayed. Recovery Roofing, thereby, breached their contractual agreement with all parties, and after 90 days without getting their distribution payment threaten Ms. Eddinger with placing a Lein on the home until the bill was paid in full. An employee of Recovery Roofing informed us over the phone that submitting the agreed upon REQUIRED documents was only a curtesy and not a requirement. With this statement Recovery Roofing has breached its contractual agreement with all parties. An employee named Matt Lodata said if we didn’t pay in full, a Lien would be placed on the residence. He said he would give us until Tuesday, August 11. 2020. (This was threatened on Tuesday, August 4). I immediately called InsuraceClaimChecks.com and told them of the bad marketplace behavior being done by Recovery Roofing. I was informed that eventhough Recover Roofing was being uncooperative with the payment requirements a check would be made to Recover Roofing and would be sent by UPS before 9 p.m. Tuesday. August 11. I received the check in the amoiunt of $2.082.60 on Monday night. On Tuesday morning I drove from Raleigh to Recovery Roofing business address at 1738 Hillandale Rd. Ste 102. Durham, N.C. ,27705. To make a payment and let Recovery Roofing know final payment would be forthcoming pending the final inspection which was in process. Since it was not the full payment Matt stated that the Lein he had taken out would remain until final payment was made, I told him he had told me he would give me until Tuesday to file the Lein. I said since he had lied about holding off on the Lein and either was not honest about that point, I would hang on to the check until I got the final payment and do the full and final payment at that time. Matt became angry and yelled if I was not going to pay on the bill to get the **** out of his office. I felt threatened by his demeanor and left and went to the police to see about taking out a restraining order on him. I agreed to hold off but arranged for final payment, whenever Matt comes to his senses, to be done at a Police station. I would appreciate the BBB sharing my complaint with Recovery Roofing. I can't say enough good about these guys. They were on time every time. Not a characteristic that I can say is wide spread these days. The work appears to be flawless. They left the job site looking better than when they arrived. Cleanup was complete, they even ran a magnet over the ground looking for stray nails. The team was professional, friendly, and a joy to work with. If you need roofing repairs or replacement this is the team that you want to do business with.

They were prompt and thorough in giving an estimate and the price was fair based on others I'd gotten. They also gave me a realistic timeline for when they could fit in the project - and then came a couple weeks sooner! I would much rather have that than workers who don't show up when they say they will The work was done professionally and promptly and we haven't had any leaking since. They are now working on our neighbors carport and the work there is more substantial, but they seem to be doing a really good job.

I had a contractor fall through last minute for the repairs needed off a home inspection before selling and Matt got back to me right away, went out and did the estimate same day and was able to complete the job with very short notice before closing on the house. Matt was great to work with, very responsive, and professional. They were great to work with!

I highly recommend the integrity of Matt Lawing of Recovery Roofing in Durham. We asked him to take a look at my mother's roof because she saw some areas that concerned her. He was able to come out within a day. He had a huge opportunity to make money, but instead let us know that her roof looks fine. He explained the areas to her, and emailed me within 3 hours of her appointment to let me know that everything is OK. The staff were very professional and always on time for appointments, they coordinated with the insurance adjuster and assisted me with the claim process. The roof looks great and excellent clean up .

I was recommended these guys by realtors that use their service too. From the beginning Recovery Roofing reps were very professional. Gary sat down with me and explained the whole process. We agreed on the materials I wanted used and his price was still the same as in his rough quote. They gave me a date and said material would show up the day before. The crew showed up early were very pleasant and fast. I was concerned because it was such a big thing to do, but as it went along I felt more and more comfortable seeing them in action. They continued to make sure I was happy with very professional contacts and checks with me along the way. After they were done and paid they continued to assure me that their product was warrantied. I would recommend Recovery Roofing to my best friend they are the best! Cleanup? They used tarps everywhere. All of the old materials were hauled away. They did the checks in several passes. I could not find evidence they were here except for a beautiful roof. I am very happy with this service.

It went amazingly well. I am so very impressed with the service from Recovery Roofing - if there was anything above "Excellent" I would give it to them: they certainly went well above and beyond. I seldom write reviews but this was such a positive experience I wanted to share it with others. It all started more than a year ago when a lot of the roofs in our neighborhood were damaged by storms, and of course we got offers in the mail from several roofers to conduct repairs, with insurance money. After interviewing a couple of them and reading reviews, we settled on Recovery Roofing, mainly because they promised to replace with Certainteed, which was slightly higher-grade than we originally had, but at no extra cost to us or insurance (they have some volume deal with Certainteed). Well, they did their job and left, and it looked good, but almost eight months later, late summer 2014, we had the worst rainstorms in many years - and the roof leaked at a joint. Our house actually has an odd (but cool) roofline - although our two-story is less than 3000 sq. ft., we have three separate roof sections, and there are some joints that apparently are ?difficult?. Well, this would not have mattered so much except that we were on a three week vacation at the time. So for three weeks, it rained inside the house . . . a nice homecoming from vacation. The leak was right above a small space opening out from our foyer space, with a half-bath and a bonus room on two sides, and a closet at the end. The floor was hardwood everywhere under it except carpet in the bonus room. Both the hardwood and the carpet had been damaged; they were swollen and trying to peel off. The water had run down the wall into the small space, and the bonus room. The entire small ceiling of the space was stained and damaged. I called our homeowners insurance, and they said they would help us with the roof, but there would be deductibles, and the water damage might be our responsibility. They suggested some local repair construction folk, who came over and gave us estimates. Our insurance also suggested we call the roofers since this happened after a recent repair. I called and left several voicemails over a couple of days with our contact person at Recovery Roofing but received no reply. Without much hope of a quick solution I also sent email to this person, and the general Recovery Roofing contact email address. This was the low-point in our experience, because from here it went up fast. That same day, I got a reply to my email apologizing for the delay in responding, and explaining that our contact person no longer worked for them (apparently I had been leaving voicemails on his personal phone - maybe not even active). I also got a personal callback from their owner or director/chief, or whatever they called the top person. In fact he stayed in touch with us through the entire subsequent process. They looked at it, and said that they would stand behind their work all the way. Long story short, that is exactly what they did. They repaired the roof, in fact they did it twice over - they repaired the leak but said that it might leak again since it there had been some oddness in the wall joint at that point. Sure enough after the next big rain it did leak - so they came over and seemed to essentially do that whole roof over. Then they ripped up the hardwood, repaired the floor and put in matching hardwood; tore down the ceiling, pulled out some insulation that I thought looked like it might be growing mold, though they said it was not really mold. They also tore out part of the walls, and corner tapes. They replaced everything, and repainted everything to match the original. And ALL this at absolutely zero cost to us. Throughout, the behavior of everybody who came to work on this, the chief as well as the various crews. They were all competent - but in one case, we thought the painting lines on the new ceiling and wall was a little sloppy - the chief came out to look at it, agreed with us, and sent a different crew over who re-did the job - better, in our eyes. It really was very heartening to see a business stand behind their work to this extent. We had been prepared for some arguments about what they might be expected to cover and what not - but there was none of that. From the estimate provided by the contractor who our insurance had sent over, we know this repair would have cost us several thousands of dollars, which we could hardly afford to spend. But Recovery Roofing did not seem to ever allow that to affect their decision. So, although this started with a flaw in their work, we are more than impressed by their professionalism. I looked at the pictures they took, and I sort of understand what they mean when they say that it is partly due to how the wall had been constructed at that point; also I believe them since they did not try to use that statement to justify not paying for the whole repair. Bottomline, I would recommend them without hesitation. I think they present the best face of American business.

We thought we had an insurance claim for hail damage. The adjusters came out and they completely agreed with everything the adjuster said pertaining to the insurance claim. The first adjuster said here was too little damage for a claim and the second said there was no damage at all. Recovery Roofing and Restoration agreed with adjusters despite what they told me they found.

I had problems with the crew but the work is excellent. The price was right. I had to pay my deductible which was $1000. The crew was a little disorganized. They ran into some problems and had some issues so instead of a day and a half, it ended up being 4 days. Other than that it was fine.

I was very pleased with this company. The quote was reasonable given the scope of work and the quality of the materials used and they arrived on the job site promptly on the date we agreed upon. The crew was more than sufficient for the project and actually removed old roofing, made repairs to sub-structure, installed new felt and new roofing and cleaned work site in 1 1/2 days. I was amazed at both the quality of installation and the project time frame. Not only did the installation crew clean the work site, but another company employee came a few days later to make a final sweep of the property for nails and to take pictures of the project quality.
