Contacted Nix Upholstery after reading other very positive reviews on Angie's List. Response to our query was fast and professional. He explained the process from start to finish, recommended local retail outlets for fabric selection, amount of fabric to purchase (based on the size of the recliner) and a price estimate. Made arrangement to pick-up the recliner and the fabric. We also discussed a new and more sturdy seat cushion to replace the worn cushion on the recliner. He estimated a work turn around of about 3 weeks. To our surprise and delight, the work was finished in about two weeks. We could not be more pleased. Our "new" recliner looks fabulous and is a testament to fine craftsmanship and the work of a true professional. When cutting and realigning the fabric pattern, he matched it so that the chair looks uniform and symmetrical. No funny looking ends and mismatched fabric. You will not go wrong with Nix Upholstery. It is a hidden gem in the Durham, NC area.

I had two fireside chairs that were passed down to me from my late father. I shopped around for quotes until a friend referred me to Nix Upholstery. Mr. Nix gave me the quote I was looking for and so I decided to go with his company. He told me exactly how much fabric to order so we (my wife and I) went out and purchased our own. The entire process took about three weeks. Needless to say we are completely satisfied. I would recommend him.

He called before he came to verify the time, he arrived at the exact time, and did a beautiful job at the price he quoted. He also did a couch for me about six months earlier with the same result.

Nix upholstery did an excellent job on a very old chair. The cost was in line with the estimate which was lower than a few other places I checked in Raleigh. However, the job took 2 extra weeks than initially quoted so I would not recommend them for quick turnaround projects. But I was very pleased with the results. It was worth the wait!

When the job was completed he delivered the sofa but"forgot" all the extra material we provided which was very expensive. We then provided two more large pillows to him and instructed him to use the material that was left over to use forthe job. He quoted a price of $100.00 for this specific job. After one week, the job was cmpleted. I called him repeatly about delivering of the pillows, and his conversations were not cooperative. He stated on the phone that he does not deliver. This was not discussed when we give hime the pillows. After two more weeks and conversations of the same nature, he finally agreed to deliver the pillows to us. When he arrived, he produved a bill for $138.00 which was $38,00 more than his original price. Obviously, this $38.00 was an add-on for the delivery he should have done for free, since he never mentioned delivery procedures prior to the transaction. This whole situation smacks of unprofessionalism. Although his technical work on the sofa and pillows was adequate, his manner of communication and business-like procedures was poor. I would not use his services in the future,

Terrific. I got their name off Angie's List. They were great -- gave me a price on the phone and stuck to it, could work on the chair right away, said they would take about 3 weeks and did, did excellent work. (Actually, the price quoted was $400 but they asked if I wanted new foam in the seat and I said yes, so that was $50 more.)

I provided the fabric, and Mr. Nix called me back promptly. He came to pick it up exactly when he said he would, finished the project in the agreed upon time frame, and returned it on time. He did a great job.

I purchased the fabric for the sofa and decided to purchase some other fabrics to have extra pillows made. Mr. Nix finished the job more quickly than he promised and did a beautiful job. He has taken a very comfortable sofa that had seen better days and transformed it into a beautiful piece of furniture that I am proud to have in my living room. I highly recommend Nix Upholstery if you want a quality job done, on time and at a good price.

We took couch cushions to be refoamed, because we thought that was the problem. The guy we talked to (the owner) redirected us to buy plywood for the bottom ($20) because he said the foam was fine and didn't need replacing. In short, the guy was incredibly honest, to the point of losing a $200+ job. I'll certainly go back to him when I actually have an upholstery job that needs to be done.

HE IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. I HAD HIM DO SEVERAL DIFFERENT UPHOLSTERY JOBS RECENTLY. HE DOES VERY QUALITY WORK AND GETS THE JOBS DONE IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.
