Our experience was generally negative. The initial on-site started with an explanation of how I had been doing my own landscaping wrong, that I didn't want to plan, and other bad choices I was making. (If I were doing it all perfectly why would I hire a landscaper?) We were asking for a DIY plan but tried to make it clear we were open to having them take a more involved role. We asked that they get back to us with the scope at which the work became worth their while. After returning with the designer when we were not at home (with our permission), the owner politely stated he would not work with us. There was no attempt to tell us what they *would* do, despite the fact that's part of what we had requested, and despite the fact we very well may have paid for a broader range of services including having them do full parts of the landscape. More than most folks, I appreciate blunt honesty and even eccentricity. However, at some point I expect a company to earn my business rather than making me earn their services.

We spent about $1500 on that work. We liked them a lot. They were great at listening to what it was we were looking for and put together a plan that was consistent to what we were hoping to achieve. Considering the amount they spent and for the number of visits, it was at a very reasonable price.
