Description of Work: Last year I hired Landscape Logic to take care of a drainage problem I had behind my house. Pleased with their services, I called them again this month to address another problem in front of my house. They came out promptly to assess the situation, drew up a plan, sent me an estimate, and completed the work the same week--as per the original estimate. They weigh the pros and cons of the possible solutions to problems and instill confidence in the customer that they know what they're doing. Based on my two experiences using LL, I would not hesitate to call them again. My experience has been most positive.

We have used Landscape Logic for the past several years with complete satisfaction. They first helped us refine and mulch the trails around our 2 1/2 acres. Pleased with their work and professionalism, we hired them again the following year to clear and create a flower garden, and install french drains. Brian always has additional great suggestions and ideas that we don't always follow because of financial constraints; that never stops him from providing great service on the work we agree on. Two years ago we were hit pretty hard with the ice storm and lost over 50 trees. Brian and his crew came in and worked for two days to clear the trees and chip the wood for our walking trail, even creating an additional connecting path. We called them again recently to help with drainage in another area and to create a garden where the ice storm had devastated our trees. We have had many landscaping people here making offers or doing some work before we found Landscape Logic. We wouldn't call anyone else.

Description of Work: put a basin in to catch water coming from uphill, and then put in a french drain 1/2 way through my yard and a solid drain connected to a daylight drain, which was there when we moved in. The amount of water gushing out of this drain was not appreciated by my downhill neighbors, and so I called Brian to see if he could amend the situation, and he just got defensive and did not want to take any responsibility for the problem, saying that he fixed the drainage in MY yard. I have had other landscapers since then that said they would not have done the drain like he did. Also, he left a line of gravel in the middle of my yard, and never covered the drain with soil and grass. Just disappointed and disgusted that I now have to spend more money to fix his inadequate job.

Over the past 25 years I have used numerous lawn maintenance services on and off. Most of them have the same approach as they just want to "Cut, blow and go..." with very little attention to detail. That pattern changed when I hired Brian Popp, owner of Landscape Logic NC, to cut and maintain our yard in early 2012. Brian has been in business for over 30 years and has absolutely nailed the 'formula' for maintaining a yard and keeping it deep green, visually appealing and fungus free. I have been absolutely amazed at the transformation of our yard from one that looked 'thin & dying" to 'thick, deep green and healthy' in under a year. We have been in this same home since 2001 and the yard has never looked this good! The difference between Landscape Logic and other services I've used is the personal attention to detail. The crew actually slows down and looks at the yard, evaluates it and makes recommendations depending on various weather conditions, season, etc. If it's been wet....they'll recommend an additional application of fungus control to avoid Brown Patch. If it's been dry...they'll skip a scheduled application if it's not needed. Brian's experience is what makes all the difference... As I told Brian and the team last week...."Landscape Logic Rocks"! Scott

He and his men came on time and worked hard. Remarkably, they did not clean my gutters. I had to pay someone else to do that after Landscape Logic had left. They said, "We don't do gutters." What they did do was trench in new solid underground drainpipes approximately twenty feet from the house, digging up the lawn with a ditchwitch and cutting my telephone line, my cable line, the incoming water line, an electical line to my greenhouse and an electric line to my lamppost. They had said they did not need to call in the "underground electic line detection" service people. They repaired the waterline, they spliced the telephone line so poorly that we decided to go "landline free", they repaired the cable line but left it laying on the surface, they repaired the lamppost line. I did not realize that they had cut the line to my greenhouse until after they left. Despite four phone calls to the proprietor, they have not returned to fix that line. They even wondered if perhaps they had not been responsible for the cut. I had to pay an electrician over hree hundred dollars to diagnose the short curcuit caused by this line cut; and, the repair itself will cost me even more money in the future. The trenched lines were backfilled sloppily and I have deep holes all over my yard. Where they had to trench under my brick pathways, they failed to retain the pattern of the bricks so that they made a mess of it when they carelessly replaced the bricks. They also failed to put enough "fill" into the trenches under the pathways and I had to pay someone to fix the troughs in the pathways that they left. One of my new foundation plants, a $150 boxwood, is deseased and dying. I hope it does not infect the others. I will not call Landscape Logic about this. I am tied of being told, "I will tell the office to put that on our schedule." ; only to never hear from them again.
Description of Work: When the proprietor came over to talk and give an estimate, I told him that my gutters were getting overwhelmed when it rained hard. I also informed him that a rat had chewed a hole in the black plastic pipe that connected the downspouts to the underground drainpipes that carry the water away from the house. I also told him I would like some larger trees near the house trimmed, and my foundation planting in the front of the house replaced.

Response from Landscape Logic
In response to the complaint regarding [member name removed], I would just like to say that [member name removed] first called me to his property to help him evaluate some drainage issues and concerns. During our phone conversation when arranging a time that we could both meet regarding his landscape issues, I vaguely remember him asking if we clean gutters. I have a standard response to this question. "I will need to see the severity of the height and pitch of the roof before I will agree to provide that service." During the time of estimate this issue was addressed and I let him know that I would not be comfortable putting my men on his roof because of safety concerns. His response was that he understood and it would be okay because he had a company that does that type of work exclusively that had been doing that for him for years. [member name removed] was at home every day and was often in the landscape while work was being performed. This issue was never visited again after that first conversation, and he was not billed for cleaning gutters. He asked about ideas on how to improve the condition of his landscape from an aesthetic standpoint. The drainage issues were relatively easy fix; down spouts needed to be routed away from the house. There were some obstacle that needed to be negotiated so that the drainage could be installed in two areas in the front yard. One and a half feet of a 30 year old walkway needed to be removed and re installed to accommodate the new drainage pipe. As stated earlier this walkway was very old and had been compromised by root growth from surrounding plants and trees. Removal and re installation of this brick work was no problem and the customer stated that he was very happy with the way it looked. These are challenges that we deal with every day and we go to great lengths to create as small a foot print as possible. The landscape in general aesthetically speaking, was in disarray. There were many plants that were over grown and out of proportion that needed to be severally pruned or removed. We removed the appropriate plantings along the front foundation of the home and re installed new plants. Again, the customer, Mr. [member information removed] and his wife were very pleased. In regards to Mr. [member information removed] complaint about the lines being cut in the yard. Even when utility lines are marked, sometimes they are cut. The customer is generally made aware of this during the conversation at the time of estimate. We hand dig all areas where crossing utilities occurs. We dig up cable and phone lines and take them out of the ground so we can see them and they are not cut. Sometimes trying to find these lines is challenging even when you know exactly where they should be. I will now speak to Mr. [member information removed]'s complaint about he service line to his greenhouse being cut. I will first say that when describing the drainage work that we did, He has a very large house and we routed every down spout in the front and back yard. Which means that we had to dig trenches throughout the entire property. There was no avoiding some of these utility lines. The drainage lines were crossing some of them in two to three different places. There was an electric wire hit in the backyard that I was not informed about, and had no way of knowing that it existed. I brought this to Mr. [member information removed] attention right away and His response was "don't worry about it, it is a wire that goes to an outdoor light that we do not use or have anymore." I insisted to him that we would be more that happy to repair the wire and he insisted that we did not repair it. Against my better judgement, and recommendation to the customer, we did not fix it. We finished the drainage work, clean up of the property and installation of new plantings, thanked him for his business and he and his wife were more than happy with the job we had done. It was a total transformation and they were very happy, and wrote me a check for the full amount. Mr. [member information removed] called me approximately 50-60 days after the work had been completed and explained to me that there was no power to his out building. He had hired an electrician to diagnose the problem. The electrician said to him that there was no power going to the building. He then asked me if we had cut a wire on that side of the house. This part of the job had been dug by hand, approximately a 30 ft stretch of the drainage that had several objects that needed to be negotiated. Using machines was not an option in this area. I spoke with my men that had been working in that area that had hand dug this trench where the possibility of crossing this wire would have occurred. They assured me that there was no wire on that side of the house. I will say that there is a high probability that the work that we did in Mr[member information removed]back yard had something to do with the loss of power to this building. I think that it is unreasonable and unrealistic to hold me responsible for an underground wire that I was not aware of due to lack of information from the customer. And in Mr. [member information removed]'s defense, I am sure he had just forgotten or was unaware as well. However, during Mr. [member information removed]phone call about this wire He insisted that I needed to make the repair. I am not a licensed electrician and am not qualified to make these connections. Doing so would put me at risk for the liability and Mr. and Mrs. [member information removed]'s safety. I am going to follow my better judgement in this case. At Landscape Logic, we take great pride in our work and we go to great lengths to deliver a quality service and leave as small a foot print on the existing landscape as possible. Thank you for your time and consideration, Brian Popp Owner/Operator Landscape Logic, Inc.

They do excellent work and they are very reasonable. They also did extensive drainage work (3) weeks ago and we were also pleased.
Description of Work: They amended some soil, made a garden and got rid of alot of weeds. We have 2 1/2 acres, so it was a lot of work.
They were very prompt and courteous. Sent a crew of polite men in nice matching tee shirts so they looked professional. They really worked hard. My pathway was installed quickly and looks neat and gorgeous. The irrigation system is working like new. The office was courteous and easy to deal with. Had a quick response time and simple questions answered in a timely fashion. Billing was fair and easily set up through my bill pay. My yard looks amazing. Even in this short time the new grass is beginning to grow. They may not be the cheapest in town, but I have tried the cheapest and not gotten the results I have gotten this time. I am thrilled and would highly recommend.
Description of Work: Had a small pathway through back lawn installed, my irrigation fixed, and my yard seeded and cleaned up.

They did a really good job. I am a fairly tough critic and they are one of the few companies I have dealt with that met my expectations and delivered what they promised - quality work. I chose Landscape Logic because I saw jobs they did on several yards in my neighborhood and was impressed. One minor disappointment was that I had been told they were scheduled 10 - 14 days out and I asked for notification of the day they would end up coming. That didn't happen. But they did come within the 14 days. Overall, I definitely recommend this company.

Thank you so much for the great review! We really enjoyed working with you on your landscape. Please accept our apology for not giving you advance notice of our arrival at your property. Sometimes our day-to-day schedule changes because of weather conditions, as well as every job takes a different amount of time, and there's often additions made to the work order. We sincerely appreciate your business!

The company did not respond, when I informed them that the shrubs they had planted died and did not survive the over six months.Even though we were told there was a one year warranty, landscape Logic did not reply. this was a waste of money

A good experience beginning with my initial call to them. They scheduled an appointment promptly. They arrived on time (perhaps even early; I can't remember). The owner came out to supervise the beginning of the work. The repair work proceeded quickly, and then they thoroughly went over the system to check coverage and correct mistargeted heads. They also dug up grass that blocked head sprays, which no prior company had done. Professional throughout.
