Description of Work: They came the day and time they were supposed to and were professional in taking out the old HVAC system and installing the new one. They left our home clean of all debris. Before they left they made sure the new system was in good working order. They tutored us in the use of the new thermostat. The only flaw was in that they were to pressure test our duct work two weeks later. On the day scheduled they never showed. I called and was told the man who scheduled no longer was there and they would have a manager call when he got back in office. We waited and never received a call back. We called the next day and told them to cancel the pressure test as we were not happy not getting a call back. All in all we would definitely use them again but have better communication.

Description of Work: Installed a new air conditioning unit including lineset and coil. It went very well. I think our job presented a greater challenge than anticipated due to the cramped quarters of our existing unit, especially the components in the crawlspace. They performed very well and I would recommend them and I would use them again.

Description of Work: Alpine installed an A/C Coil and U/V light. Everyone we dealt with in the office and the technicians at our house were pleasant and easy to deal with. The problems began when we found out that the equipment we had replaced was under a 10-year warranty and only 8 years had passed. However, the company that issued the original warranty had recently been bought by Alpine; Alpine wouldn't honor the previous warranty and said the warranty had never been registered and we had to pay the full cost of the new unit ($6300). The installation was fine, although there was work that had to be fixed after the town inspection. Besides the warranty issue, we felt that we weren't provided with the final paperwork to show what work had been done and what had been installed. After many, many phone calls to the office - calls that were always promptly returned but never resulted in the information we wanted - I eventually contacted Amana and they emailed me the product information. | |I suspect that our problems were mostly a result of our bad timing - Alpine had just absorbed the other company and it seemed like they were struggling to deal with the change. We continue to pay for an annual service contract with them and have been pleased with that work. Everyone was so pleasant, I wanted to be happy with the whole experience but have to admit it didn't quite live up to the service we expected.

+ -1 moreI requested a 2-4 pm window and a specific technician, David, whom I know personally. He arrived at 2:30 so we were off to a great start! He went straight to work wearing floor-protecting booties. He starting with re-familiarizing me with how my thermostats worked which was helpful, and changed my filters while he had his ladder out. He left me with written recommendations on how I could sign up for an annual maintenance agreement, install a UV light, and of course, replace my rusting 14 year old system. I did not require any repairs but will certainly call them back for a spring A/C tune up and for a price to replace the old system when the time comes. As a disclaimer, I formerly owned One Hour Heating and Air for whom David once worked. I believe that makes me a more critical customer.
Description of Work: I took advantage of a special offer and had Alpine tune up my two heating systems.

+ -1 moreAlpine's employees actually showed up. Dave Ashley was so excellent and nice, he is the one who made sure we understood. He was meticulous and when they were done they cleaned up and even vacuumed (awesome).
Description of Work: They put in a heat pump and it was done in a timely manner. They explained how it worked and ways that we could save money - the did not leave until they were sure we understood. I loved them and will recommend them.

+ -1 moreThe bill for repairs would be about $2k or he suggested it was time to replace the entire system. He called the office to schedule a time for an estimator to come out. I called another company to come out for a service call without informing the new company that Alpine had been out. The second company came out and found a switch that needed to be replace--note the switch was not on the list of items the Alpine service rep presented to me. The cost for the second company was the price of a service call and switch about $169.00. I chose to have a working relationship with the second company.
Description of Work: Alpine H&A took over the service contract I had with another provider. They did honor the term of the contract. The service rep was punctual and very polite. He serviced the unit and presented quite a list of repairs that were needed.

Sharon was extremely helpful and was very knowledgeable about different systems over the phone. Technician provided an in depth report of the findings. I would highly recommend them to family and friends.

+ -1 moreDrew was professional, courteous, and competent. He called me about thirty minutes in advance of his arrival and showed up on schedule both times. He explained what he was doing and why. He took a few minutes to persuade my yippy little dog that he was friendly, which was kind of him. Drew completed the work in a timely manner. Alpine's office staff was efficient and friendly and worked with me to arrange a convenient time for my appointments. Sharon was able to give me an appointment the day after I called to set one up. I got a good deal on the tune-ups from Angie's List at $49 apiece. The remaining $300 charge was for the replacement of around twenty feet of duct work.
Description of Work: Alpine's technician, Drew, tuned up my heat pump and my gas furnace. He returned the next day to replace some duct work that squirrels had destroyed.

We decided on Friday afternoon that I needed a new furnace and duct work, and the job was done by Tuesday afternoon, the day before Christmas!! My experience with everyone, from the person who diagnosed my problem, to the person who discussed financing with me, to the technicians who installed the system, could not have been any better. The technicians showed up on time, were extremely knowledgeable and professional, explained everything they did for me, and left the site cleaner than how they found it. They were very impressive, had great attitudes, and made me feel very confident that the new system will serve me well, and will save me a lot of money in energy bills. As a Realtor, I take my testimonials very seriously. I can honestly say that my dealings with Alpine from start to finish were absolutely perfect, and I wouldn't change anything about how it went. I've emailed a testimonial to Alpine, and told them they can have anyone who is thinking of using them, to call me for a reference. I will refer all of my clients and colleagues to Alpine. I could not be happier with the job they did for me.
Description of Work: Alpine replaced my 25 year old furnace, which had a badly defective heat exchanger, installed new duct work for the downstairs system, and installed two new thermostats.

+ -1 moreOn a routine servicing call, it was picked up that my refridgerant was low. There was a leak in the system. The service technician was very on the ball and outlined the options. He then called the saleman who came over right away. [I do live in durham.] We talked about 30min and arranged for installation of new system 3 days later. [they were willing to do next day, but i couldn't do that.] BC of my work schedule, it all had to be finished that day so they assigned extra staff. I did pay cash- so that my have helped.

I was told that Alpine wanted to do a walk-through of the work before they scheduled the city inspection and they would give me the warranty and rebate paperwork at that time. After waiting for two weeks I drove to Alpine to pick up the paperwork myself. They had not yet scheduled the walk-through and inspection. After waiting another week I called again, and the walk-through was performed and identified some corrections to be made. Over a month elapsed from the completion of the work until the city inspection was performed, and the inspection failed. I had already lined up another contractor for other work in my crawlspace, and that work had to be delayed. A second month then passed by, with me having to make regular phone calls to Alpine to complete work after a second, and then third, and then fourth inspection. Meanwhile, my plans were disrupted and my other contractor was extremely inconvenienced, having to reschedule my project weekly. The office had no sense of urgency, did not follow up unless I called, and never apologized for the two-month delay to pass inspection.

Description of Work: I called Alpine to come out and fix my AC. The lady i spoke to was very friendly and helpful. She setup an appointment for the next day and told me that the tech would call me when he was leaving the last stop. The tech called me when he was at the end of my street. He was very professional and polite. My children were home but he waited outside until my husband got home to diagnose the problem. Explained what happened unable to correct the problem but told us what needed to be done. They were a little pricey for a service call, but would use them again.

They are a smaller company, which was my only concern, but I was furnished referrals which will let me call other homeowners to check them out. They have had good service, just checking up with me to see if I need anything after their bid. So far they have been good and I am planning on using them when I decide to get my system replaced. They were informative about rebates that were available for the whole system, including from the manufacturer and Progress Energy. They seem to really know what they are talking about.
