Brad was quickly responsive to all calls; very professional in all dealings; knowledgeable and interested in explaining and justifying his recommendations. He was punctual and completed the work in the expected 2 day time period. His workers were hard-working and pleasant. All work was completed to my satisfaction. The cost seemed appropriate for the job done, and no unexpected problems or issues have arisen with the work.
Description of Work: Removed old insulation, old vapor barrier, and debris from crawlspace. Treated wood for fungal growth. Sealed holes and gaps in overhead subfloor and foundation walls. Sealed foundation vents with rigid insulation board. Installed new moisture barrier to walls, piers, and floor, and rigid insulation board to foundation walls. Installed supply air inducer for humidity control. Installed new doors to isolate crawl space.

We had a crawlspace that had an accumulation of mold over a 50+ year period. Crawlspace Doctors was prompt and responsive on providing the initial inspection of the crawlspace and recommendations for repairs with estimates. They clearly articulated the recommended repairs, provided options, and explained services listed. Once they were scheduled to perform the repairs, they completed the repairs according to plan. The crawlspace now is clean of mold, fully disinfected, and sealed and ventilated to prevent mold from growing again.

They were always on time. They came when they said they would come. They cleaned the place after doing their thing. They carried all the trash away. I had a broken water pipe on the floor, they came and fixed it. The secured the basement door. The service after the sale was excellent. Overall they were excellent. I would recommend them and also use them in the future if need be.

THE INSTALLATION WAS EXCELLENT, THE PLACE LOOKS 1,000% BETTER. THE CREW WAS ALWAYS ON TIME, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES, AND OBVIOUSLY TOOK PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. THEY DID EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO, THE JOB LOOKS GREAT, AND IT WAS A FAIR PRICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WHO IS THINKING ABOUT IMPROVING THEIR CRAWLSPACE.
Description of Work: MY CRAWLSPACE NEEDED ENCAPSULATING, APPROX 2000 SQ FEET. HE REMOVED ALL THE OLD INSULATION AND PLASTIC ON THE FLOOR. HE SPRAYED AND CLEANED ALL THE PLUMBING PIPES AND EVEN CLEANED THE WIREING . THE FOUNDATION WAS INSULATED WITH THICK INSULATION WITH A SHINY ALUMINUM COVERING. THE KNEE WALLS WERE INSULATED WITH A FIBER AND ALUMINUM MATERIAL. FOAM WAS USED TO SEAL ANYWHERE A WIRE OR PIPE CAME THROUGH THE FLOOR, AND AN OUTLET WAS PLACED IN THE AC DUCTWORK TO CONDITION THE SPACE. A DRAIN WAS INSTALLED IN THE LOWEST PART OF THE SPACE AND PIPED OUTSIDE AND DOWN THE HILL.

Brad did a great job. He came out for free and did an estimate, giving me choices on encapsulation versus not, venting vs dehumidifier, etc. He spent time to explain the differences and what encapsulation was all about. I had some issues on how to handle the air ductwork, and he worked through that with me as well. I had to have some foundation work done (which I knew about), and he recommended a person who gave me a fair estimate (not included in the price). The work was done in 4 days. He worked with the foundation person and the water heater company to get all the work done in the one week. Though his one crew did the majority of the work, he was over every day to inspect and ensure all was up to spec, and always spent time with me explaining what was going on. It has been 3 months now, and the difference is noticeable. The smells in the house, from the fungus, are gone. The heat pump works significantly better. It actually keeps the house warm in the ultra cold, which it use to run all the time just to get the temp to 68. Apparently, though it is heating more space with the crawl space, because half of the space being heated is completely enclosed, the warmth from underneath is lessening the amount of total work the heat pump is doing. At this point, I believe my winter electric bills are less. I had gotten estimates from 5000-10000 on this job.Had Brad done the water heater, his estimate was 7,000. I went with him because his explanations, his professionalism, and his being backed by a national company like Crawlspace Doctor inspired much more trust than the lower estimate people. His Angie's list reviews were also considerable better, and that was a major factor as well. I am glad to add an A+ to those reviews. He did a great job, and I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Performed fungal remediation and encapsulated the crawlspace for my 1565 sq foot house. Pulled out and disposed of all insulation in the crawl space. Scrubbed all areas that had fungus with disinfectant. This was (alas) the majority of the crawlspace. Encapsulated the crawlspace, with 15 mil sheeting on floor, 10 mil on piers, and R10 insulation on all walls up to floor joists. Installed 2 vents into crawl space (as opposed to dehumidifier), a drain to the outside, and a new crawl space door. Arranged inspection, included in the price. The price does not include water heater work - Brad would have reseated the water heater and installed a separate drain for it, but I chose to have it replaced.

Brad came out and provided a clear description of what he thought should be done and why. He also didn?t try to oversell with a dehumidifier. He stated that there is a small chance it may be required in the future, but didn?t want to do that if it wasn?t required. Time will tell, but I think what he and his crew did will solve the problem. The total cost estimate was in line with other companies estimate, but his proposed solution was better. Brad was always very personable, professional and timely. He went to great lengths to make sure we understood what was going to be done and that all our questions were answered. He provided referrals, and they all were very positive of his company and work. He set up an appointment where he and I met a previous customer so I could see the work first hand, and again the client was completely satisfied. His crew shows up on time, and cleans up before they leave. Brad stops by every day to see how things are going and to see if there are any questions or concerns. It is clear that Bard is all about doing a professional job, but more importantly his biggest desire is to make his clients happy. For personal reasons I couldn?t meet brad at my mom? house the day they finished, he was happy to recommend we meet the next day so I could inspect the work and talk with him. This guy is all about customer service.
Description of Work: My mother’s crawl space started getting water into it and had a build-up of mold occurring. CrawlSpace Doctor was one of the companies we looked at to resolve the problem. The crew cleaned out the crawl space of miscellaneous debris, removed the insulation from the floor joists, scrubbed the floor joist and treated them for mold. Then they dug a trench, and created a trough area around the whole base of the foundation to provide drainage to an outside drainage pipe. Next they seal up the piping, hvac and electrical openings, sealed the floor and walls with think visqueen, put up insulation on the walls, and tapped into the HVAC to provide conditioned air in the crawl space.

Brad Dhering, the owner came a couple of times and made sure I understood what they weer going to do. He was here everyday with his workers and they came here everyday for 3 days just like they had said. I am happy everything worked out and I am very pleased. They are very professional and people should not hesitate to use them. Their price was reasonable.

His pricing was good and Brad, the owner was real good. He was just here even though the job he did has a lifetime guarantee on it. It really cuts down on the dust and they re-insulated it while they were up there, which was part of the cost. They have two different programs and one of them involves putting plastic right up on my rafters. We did not do that and elected instead to have the insulation de-done. I had no problems with them at all. From what I could tell the pricing was comparable to the other estimates I got and was within range. What stood out was their professionalism. The quality was good.

They did a great job. Brad and his team were wonderful when they first sealed the crawlspace in 2013, and this followup was exactly what I expected. There were no problems, and the dehumidifier works perfectly. My crawlspace is bone dry, even after 3-4 inches of rain. I would recommend anybody to Crawlspace Doctor who is serious about creating the right environment in their home.
Description of Work: Brad Dehring and his team installed a new crawlspace dehumidifier for me. They also inspected my crawlspace to see whether the sealing the did last year was still effective. The cost of the original work was approximately $4500, much lower than two other estimates that I had received.

Brad's initial explanation of the procedures involved and how the costs were determined were presented in an easy-to-understand manner when we were obtaining various quotes and opinions. There was no "hard-sell", denigration of the other companies and their costs/estimates. He was absolutely professional throughout the entire process. Upon scheduling the work, his crew arrived as stated.......on time and ready to work. Each day after each phase of work was completed, Brad contacted us to inform us of the progress and what would be occurring next. After completing the entire installation, we did find a few areas where there was still some water leaking into the crawlspace after some of the strong summer storms rolled through. Brad came to the house, inspected the areas, made suggestions to resolve the problem and then followed up as stated. The leaks into the crawlspace were not always readily apparent, as such it required a bit of detective work in order to fully resolve the issue. After performing a variety of repair procedures, Brad was was finally able to fully remedy the problem. Each and every time we had a conversation about the residual water problems, he made to schedule follow-up appointments and begin the process of addressing our concerns. Throughout the entire process, Brad was easy to contact, returned telephone calls, texts and emails very quickly. His constant reassurance that the problem would be taken care of no matter the length of time or additional work required (and at no additional cost) are to be commended. Without any reservations, we would highly recommend Brad's company (Crawlspace Doctor).
Description of Work: Brad's company completely cleaned and removed the residual construction debris from years past and the old insulation under the flooring. Afterwards, they completely sealed (floors and walls) the entire crawlspace (which was almost 3,000 square feet), installed a drain for a chronic water collection area under a secluded screen porch and finished off the work with a dehumidifier.

So pleased with the results we did it again! Brad did the crawlspace under our daughter?s house in Fall 2013. Before the work, the house (built in mid-70?s) always had a musty smell. After the work, the smell was completely gone, never to return. The crawlspace was completely cleaned and sealed and looks great. We liked the results so much we had Brad do the crawlspace under our house (built 2001). Sealed crawlspaces are considered much better for the long-term health of one?s house. Brad and crew are very professional. They show up when they say they will and do what they promise. They leave the worksite totally clean and all debris from the job is hauled away. If we had a third crawlspace to do, Brad would get the job.

Went well. No problems. Responsvie and professional.
Description of Work: Did a complete crawl space encapuslation including removal of old insulation and anti mold treatment and installed a dehumidifier and drain line. He also installed (without asking) wireless humidity gauges/thermoters (dont know the "official" name) in the crawl space. He vented the AC/Heat in both air handlers (I have 2 crawl spaces becuase of an addition). The temperature in the crawl spaces is now the same as in the house. Very pleased and wished I had done it sooner. No more condensation build up in the crawl space.

It was a pleasure working with Brad (owner) and his crew. Brad was always very straightforward and clear in his proposal and throughout the entire installation process. He started the job when he said he would and completed it before schedule. The quality of the materials is excellent as well as the workmanship. All the debris was removed as promised, including a lot of junk we had stored in our crawl space. Brad followed up some time after the installation to see if we were satisfied or had any questions. We LOVE our new crawl space!!! I would definitely recommend Brad the Crawl Space Doctor!

It takes special mention to do what Brian Dehring, the owner did and he was the cheapest of them all. I tried to explain to everybody, I wanted a certain thing done and that was it, everybody else was giving me a catalog and that is not what I wanted. The team that came in to do the work was excellent. Working up under a house is not easy, it is dangerous but they went up under there, they did their job and they did exactly what I asked them to do. I had female grand kids around the yard and these were all guys running about, not that it was an issue or anything. Brian was dead on. There were two guys that came out and they worked all week long because there is only so much you can do being under a house.

The crawlspace became bone dry very quickly and has remained so. My only complaints are that it cost an awful lot for a single day's work, they destroyed a bed of bulbs that I didn't realize was in the way, and the backhoe hit and cracked my foundation and no one told me (I discovered it weeks later and noted paint transfer the same color as the backhoe). This was one of three quotes and everyone was in the same ballpark, so I guess this is just what it costs.

I had early stages of mold under my house. |Unfortunately while they were working under the house, they found a leak in the pipes from my hot water heater. The leak was not something that I can see from looking at the water heater or the surrounding area. We have been very happy with Brad. The work we had done was about two years ago by a different Crawlspace franchise (now out of business and Brad has taken over their territory). We had an issue come up recently with our liner and Brad has been quick to rectify it, even though our crawlspace was not done by him originally. Not only that but he follows up with up regularly to make sure his repair is doing what it is supposed to be doing. It is rare that you find a contractor who goes above and beyond like this to keep the client happy - he takes pride in his work and in his company. Brad is also just a nice guy - easy to talk to, calls you back promptly, polite. Would definitely recommend him!

Brad was prompt in responding to initial call and asked questions to better understand status. He arrived promptly to appointment and proceeded to inspect crawlspace. He then thoroughly explained his findings and his recommendations. He did not find any problems other than plastic groundcover disheveled and torn and needed replacement, and some insulation needed to be secured. He also found signs of insects which he advised were typical. He advised that these items could be handled by a handyman and offered to give me names to contact. As he was leaving, my neighbor inquired about findings and Brad reviewed with both of us and answered our questions. While Brad did not perform crawlspace repair services, he did provide inspections and professional advice. Brad's intent to educate and assist rather than sell a job (which I encountered from other companies) was a breath of fresh air and I would definitely call him first if I discover a need for his service.

-Brad was a pleasure to work with. He has agreed to relocate the pvc pipe to a better location & to retape the water filtration tank once maintenance is performed in the near future. -The work crew was professional & did a good job not disturbing anyone including two pups who normally have the run of the yard via dog doors. -ALL debris was removed within a few days of work completion. -The original time to complete the work was over estimated; as a result, Brad extended a price reduction. -Am hoping the company stays in business since it gives a 20 year warranty. -The cost is hard to take since a recent 3 week vacation to Alaska was less expensive!!! Only time will tell if this work was worth the cost. I only had one other estimate -- it was approx 1/3 the cost; however, I don't believe the quality of the materials or workmanship was what I got from Crawlspace Doctor. -Am also hoping the industry standards for crawlspace don't change again. They have continuously changed over the past 30+ years (i.e., 80% vapor barrier vs 100% vapor barrier; open crawlspace vents vs never open vents, etc.).
Description of Work: Based on the contract, this is the work performed: -Removed fiberglass insulation (this included removing, bagging and hauling away from property) -Removed existing vapor barrier (this included removing, bagging and hauling away from property) -Removed debris from crawl space floor (this included removing, bagging and hauling away from property) -Hand cleaned visible mold/fungus below insulation line with anti-microbial -Secured sagging/fallen electrical/cable wires -Extended detached pvc to exit through foundation -Repaired dryer vent -Sealed plumbing/electrical gaps in overhead sub-floor with expanding foam. -Sealed holes/gaps from plumbing/electrical in foundation walls -Sealed foundation vents with rigid insulation board to prevent outside elements from affecting crawl space humidity -Installed new moisture barrier and insulation board to foundation walls (leaving 3" termite inspection gap at top of wall per NC building codes) -Installed new moisture barrier to piers (minimum 4” high per NC building codes) -Installed new moisture barrier to crawl space floor (100% coverage and sealed together with 4" Vapor Bond seaming tape) -All seams in new moisture barrier sealed with 4" Vapor Bond seaming tape (walls, support piers and floor) -Insulated structural box headers (perimeter rim joists) with foil faced fiberglass insulation -Insulated/weatherized crawl space door -Installed “Supply Air Inducer” to provide temperature/humidity control -Installed wireless temperature/humidity monitor -Provided before & after photos on a CD

Crawlspace Doctor performed all work in an outstanding manner and at a very fair price. Brad Dehring, the owner of the firm, personally supervised all of the work and was very professional, as was his crew. The estimates that I had received from a couple of other firms greatly exceeded the one I received from Crawlspace Doctor. Yet I found their work to be first class and exactly as promised. In addition, Brad worked with me on obtaining the required building permit, and the inspector who provided the final sign off on the permit was also obviously quite impressed when he saw the completed work. I have since had other contractors in my crawlspace (HVAC contractor, pest/termite inspector) and they have complimented me on the manner in which the work was done. The crawlspace has remained dry as a pin, despite even very heavy rain, such as the four inches that we recently received in a single day. I have had no problem maintaining 55% humidity in the crawlspace despite only limited dehumidification. I have even seen a decrease in my electric bills. Do yourself a favor and consider sealing your crawlspace to eliminate the potential for mold and to improve the overall energy efficiency of your home. And by all means give Brad and Crawlspace Doctor the opportunity to do the job. You will not be disappointed. Update: After about a year, there was an issue with the dehumidifier that Brad installed. Despite the fact that my agreement with Brad called for me to deal directly with the manufacturer on the necessary warranty claim, Brad agreed to handle it due to the fact that the problem occurred only about 10 months after installation. He got the manufacturer to replace the unit, and he even delivered and switched it out for me. This was outstanding service, and further demonstrates Brad's willingness to do right by his customers.
Description of Work: Crawlspace Doctor sealed my crawlspace, installed a drain along the inside wall, and provided a suitable dehumidifier.
