Technician was thorough in troubleshooting and found bad board and mis-wiring from previous work we had done by others. Took a good 5 hours worth of work and all was accomplished same day of service call. Cost a little more than expected for the parts but worth it as the other company we had called wanted us to completely replace the furnace and AC system which is less than 10 years old. Thank you Matthew Braswell for the excellent work.

It went well, although I was sold a unit that ended up requiring the installation of an additional air return which now takes up some space in our pantry. Would have liked to know about that ahead of time. Otherwise a professional job and system has worked well.

They did it four years ago, and it has been without any problems whatsoever since. They were definitely fast and efficient. They got it done all in one day. They were professional. They came right away. They responded quickly and got here fast. I would use them again if I can. They would get all "A"s. I think five guys came out and they left the area clean.

I explained all this to the technician, who spent some time examining my unit and then said that the problem was due to a blockage somewhere in the refrigerant line. He even showed me pressure readings from the unit and frozen condensation on the line that indicated that this was the problem. He said that to fix it, all the refrigerant would have to be drained from my system and the blocked portion of the circuit replaced. New refrigerant would then be added. Total cost was more than $1800.00. This was a bit of a shock, so I told him that I would think about it and call him back. I then contacted another HVAC company and they looked at the unit. They showed the same drop in pressure as the previous technician had pointed out, but said this was normal as the refrigerant flowed through the system. The condensation was also normal. They put a couple pounds of refrigerant in the system and it has worked fine ever since. Total cost was about $320.00
Description of Work: The air conditioning component of my gas pack went out...no cooling of the air was occurring. I assumed that this was due to low pressure of the refrigerant, as the same thing had occurred a couple of years ago and was quickly fixed by adding a couple of pounds of new refrigerant.

They did good. I bought two units. The service was good. The old system they replaced was in and they installed a larger hole so the one they replaced it with they sealed in the hole. They did a better job overall than the last people I used.

It went well. Joe came and took care of it, told me that the furnace and air conditioning unit would need to be replaced (20 years old). When I ran into trouble (just like Joe predicted), he was here right away and had me up and running in nothing flat. He is amazing. Clean, pleasant, professional. I am very happy to have him in my corner.

Hadn't had my A/C serviced since I bought the home in late 2012 and so we had a tune-up done recently. I was impressed by the friendly voice on the other end when making my appointment as I had called a few other companies and their friendliness was lacking. I continued to be impressed when the tech Rodney called, as promised, before coming out. I had a good lead-time to leave work to be home and not completely disrupt my day. Rodney was very professional and kind and fully explained everything he had done and why he was making the recommendations he made. The prices were fair and suggestions made reasonable. I will be calling again in the Spring and I would highly recommend this company.

We asked the 1st contractor to come back and finish the repair; our total cost ended up being $1,174 including the service call (we got a $47 discount coupon on Yelp). We will never call Carolina A/C again; they overcharge and would take longer. Also Carrier is a horrible A/C manufacturer because this is the 3rd time we have problems with our unit in 7 years, twice due to this motor module (we paid $400 for the labor and service call, less than 4 years prior).
Description of Work: When our 7-year old Carrier A/C unit quit working 2 weeks ago, we contacted several A/C contractors with 5-star reviews from Angie's List and scheduled 2 of them to come over. The 1st contractor charged us $59 for the service call and told us the motor module needs to be replaced. He could get the part the next day and the repair would cost around $1,300. We told him we were getting a 2nd opinion and would let him know. The next day, Carolina A/C showed up, charged us $95.68 for the service call (no invoice, so we don't know why the odd price) and confirmed that the motor module was the problem. However their price to replace it would be $1,500 and it would take from 3 to 5 days to get the part.

it went great; the program they offered was to include two visits, the first one to get the unit up to snuff for hot weather, and the second one to come this fall to prepare for winter. They also offer single visits for each season.
Description of Work: Provided repair and update service on 8-year-old heat-exchange type air conditioner/heating unit The unit was years overdue for service and needed a full cleaning, new parts, charging, and adjustment. The service technician was on time for the appointment, very professional, offered his identification without my asking, and completed the required work in a reasonable time. Parts were added to the final cost as the unit was in poor shape. Final cost was approximately $240.00. Well worth it.

I purchased an Amazon Local deal for an HVAC inspection on a rental property, the unit itself isn't real old but I knew it was time for preventative maintenance. I contacted Jamie and she coordinated with the tenants to have the inspection done which was awesome. That helped me quite a bit. After the inspection the tech called with some recommendations, plus he found a gas leak during inspection that he fixed right away. He explained what should be done, why it should be done, and sent before pictures so I could see what he was talking about. I felt confident that what he recommended should be done so I purchased an annual service plan (it's comparable in price and service to others that I have purchased) and requested the other items on the list. I received a full report of the work performed. They're also now my preferred provider for HVAC with the property management company that I use. They're extremely helpful and professional.

I can’t tell you the name of the man that was here but he was efficient and he was here when he said he was going to be here. As far as I know, the ducts are cleaned. He was efficient, he was clean, and he worked cleanly too. I won’t call them again because I simply don’t see any reason to; I just wanted to make sure that the previous owner’s cat hairs and dog hairs were not in the system. I still don’t know whether what was done was still done. He had a vacuum cleaner, he covered up all the vents and I could see they were being sucked, so I knew something was happening but I don't know if it was cleaned good or not. The price was a little high.

I am extremely pleased with Carolina AC!! I had previously enlisted another company to do the Fall furnace check, and this company's bottom line was 1) No point in working on the upstairs furnace because it had 3 costly things wrong with it, and since it was old, it should just be replaced, and 2) No point in working on our newer downstairs unit because it had so much mold in it that it needed to have a very costly piece of equipment added to it. So, facing such large costs to fix everything, I decided to get a second opinion. I looked on Angie's List and selected Carolina AC based on their rating and reviews by other customers. Erik came to our house from Carolina AC, and he explained to me that many companies work on commission, including the one that gave me the huge estimate for replacing one furnace and for needed work on the other. However, Carolina AC does not work on commission. And, for the upstairs furnace, it turned out that only one of the 3 "problems" listed by the other company had any merit, and it was for a part that routinely needs replacement and it was relatively cheap. So there was no need for a new furnace yet. For the downstairs unit, Erik cleaned it up as part of the normal Fall service, and it was sparkling clean at the end. So no expensive system was needed to get rid of the mold. Erik was very thorough, helpful and nice. He encouraged me to watch as he worked on the systems, and showed me exactly what was wrong, and what was right. I couldn't be more pleased!

Curtis was professional. He explained in detail what he was doing and why. He and I had discussed this work previously and I had an opportunity to obtain a second opinion. He was right on target. After talking with him about maintenance of the systems, I purchased a yearly maintenance agreement which entails him coming to the house twice a year to inspect the heating and cooling systems.

I have nothing but good things to say about Carolina Air Conditioning. Troy, the owner of the company, and his top notch team of professional engineers installed a heat pump compressor in my unit on Tuesday, Sept. 24. After my application for help with Operation Breakthrough was denied, I found that this company was willing to go to extraordinary measures to insure that I had warmth this winter, as well as A/C when needed. I would recommend them without reservation to anyone looking for an honest, extremely proficient company. They did an outstanding job from the first moment I contacted them.

Found water on the floor near our furnace. Called Carolina at our daughter's recommendation. They came the next day and found the problem. They fixed it and explained that the furnace needed to be replaced since it was very old and it could break again at any time. (true) There would be no charge for this visit if we were replacing the unit and we agreed to talk to a supervisor. He came within an hour and they were back in 3 days and installed the new unit. The crew was great. On time, put down tarps, took off shoes, worked efficiently. Provided new heat pump and pad, took away all the old stuff, cleaned everything up. Inside they insulated the furnace closet for sound abatement, installed a new thermostat and by 4:00 we were cooling again.Their inspector came and checked out all the work before he called the Durham city inspectors. They took care of all permits and made sure the job was done correctly. City came to inspect on Monday and we expect a lower energy bill for many years to come. Good job Carolina Air Conditioning. And they sent a beautiful plant!

I have an annual contract with them. They had told me in the winter something in the AC would need to be fixed but I was not too surprised. They are an old, reputable company and they installed the first heat pump in the south in the 1950s. They are in Durham but serve capitol hill. They do what they say they are going to do. They tell you what might need to be done but do not pressure you. Their pricing seemed to be comparable. I compared the service agreement with several other companies and it was maybe $5 less, slightly less so I felt it was a good value. He was a tad bit late.
Description of Work: I used Carolina Air Conditioning for a single pole, new inline float switch, and new set of shrader valve core and caps installed. They tuned up both AC units.
