Description of Work: Our initial experience with Byron was very good. Although as I previously mentioned, getting him to do things in a timely fashion was sometimes a challenge, in general he provided an excellent product. The price, considering the product was high, but manageable. Since then however, our experience has drastically changed. We asked him to modify our front porch so that our decorative cement contractor could place a path. The "new" porch was to be a transitional structure, using the bones of the old one, until we could decide on a final design for a new one. The price was astronomical and the outcome for the price was amazingly bad. For double what we paid for this temporary structure, we could have built the new one with a new design. In addition, we asked Byron to make handrails for the porch and the steps coming up to it, to be used with our new porch when we decided on its final design. He assured us that it would be much cheaper than we could get custom elsewhere. $1800 later, we are still in shock. The final straw was the drain box that he had custom made to fit into our new stone wall. The box, he again assured us, would be less than half the price we could get elsewhere. When it arrived, it did not fit in the opening, stuck out 3 inches and was twice the price we were told it would be. In short, I'm not sure what is going on, maybe hard times change the way someone does business, but I wouldn't use him again.

The overall experience was quite good. We did the project in stages beginning with the floors, the attic and the indoor painting. Then, as budget allowed, we painted the outside, built the shed, the porch and overhang. The drawback was quite simply that the weather has been horrible and there has been no way to stay on schedule doing out of door work. It is now nearly complete. The only drawback to Byron's work, is that he will delay a job in order to get the exact material that meets his standards. The result is amazing. The time schedule is not
Description of Work: Byron built our custom home 10 years ago. It is a beautifully, green built home which we bought last April. Since then he has coordinated finding the best of the best to refinish our floors and paint our house. Then, with amazing attention to detail, he built a beautiful shed in our backyard, which looks like an extension of our home, added an overhang on the front, as well as a new porch with a handmade stainless handrail. He finished our unconditioned attic, such that even without heat or air conditioning it stays within a range of about 20 degrees. The work is beautiful. He is a perfectionist and craftsman that is a rarity in this world of mass production and shoddy craftsmanship.

He basically cheated me on billing. He did not come punctually and supervise the job. He did not listen to any of my suggestions and was always screaming at his workers. The workers that he brought to my house were good and the quality of the work was good. My neighbors also had the same impression that he overcharged on services. I had a very bad experience with Byron Papa.
Description of Work: He was the contractor who undertook remodeling of my house.

My complaint with them is the billing method. When he came with the bill it was more than his estimate. He brought me a paper he wrote showing how they charge. Their was a fee that was a fee just for his profit. He then tried to cover up that he exaggerated his price. He charged for things in his house that were never done to my house and were billed to other people. They were initials not even names. He bought a ladder brand new used it here and took it back and charged me for the ladder. His crew was good but they never quite finished the job. He got really insulting and started talking degrading to me. He never came and looked at my ceiling after that happened. They installed a roof window and it was crooked and they never replaced it or fixed it. I had to hire another company to come fix it.
Description of Work: They put in some sheetrock in my living room floor.
