We know squat about pools, which is why one hires pros. The same person did the closing in the fall. The person who did the service was on time and polite. However, during the spring service, we were informed the filter, pump and vinyl liner are shot, but they dumped $100 of chemicals in it and $80 of labor. I would have expected the bad news in the fall and advice this spring to the effect of, "You may want to replace the liner and skip the treatment to save a few bucks." In addition, we were charged a 45 dollar distance fee and our home is only a 20 minute drive from their main office. We asked for an estimate for these repairs and have yet to receive it. I don't mind paying for someone's time and advice but don't enjoy paying to shock a pool we will be emptying as soon as we can arrange to have the liner replaced.

They did a really good job - a little late to arrive, but very thorough when they got there. Very friendly both in shop and when came out. Big contrast to some other pool stores in the area. Explained what they were doing well. Have used another pool store in Mebane for the last couple years with some so-so service, but have switched to this one based on our experiences so far this season.

I purchased a 10' x 30and quot; vinyl above ground Intex pool for my backyard. Having no knowledge on pool maintenance, I went to B and G Builders to get my water tested and to get some professional advice for the chemicals needed for my small pool. They were very kind when I walked in with my 2-year-old son and even offered him some popcorn from their popcorn machine, which was nice. I then proceeded to show them a picture of the pool I had bought; the pool had the dimensions and it was obvious what the pool was made out of. They tested my water and then proceeded to pick out all the chemicals they said I would need. Mind you, I had no idea what I was doing so I listened intently. They told me my water calcium was low and that would need to be corrected as well. In the end, the girl told me I'd need $157.00 worth of chemicals. My pool itself only cost $80.00! The girl who helped me was young, so I don't know if she was just doing what she had been taught to do. I told them I'd need to talk to my husband before making a purchase that big and they said they'd put all the merchandise aside for when I came back, since they had already written all the directions on the chemical packages with permanent marker for me. Needless to say, I didn't go back to purchase from them. Upon further research, I was told from some other professionals that the calcium levels didn't matter in my pool since it wasn't concrete and it didn't have any accessories, such as a pool ladder. I felt very misled and taken advantage of. I'm sure they'd be great if you had the expendable cash and a brand new large, in-ground pool. But for first timers, beware of B and G Builders.

They had exactly what we needed, and they were very courteous. They were just great. They always test our water for free and everything, so they are really wonderful people to deal with.
