Description of Work: I like ARS and they have had my HVAC Service Contract for many years now, but sometimes (depending on the ARS representative) they really try the 'hard sell' to replace my AC ductwork, add whole-home Air Purifier or UV Sanitizer which they charge $300 as a 'discounted rate' when I can buy / install the same unit myself for around $100. That is the only mild complaint I have with ARS, and it has only happened a few times in many years - aside from that occasional annoyance they do a good job.

Description of Work: We used ARS for annual maintenance service on our heating/air conditioning for four years. Last year they said part of the outside condenser unit was beginning to fail and needed to be replaced. The good news was that it was covered by the original warranty and we would have to pay only for labor. When they replaced the parts they then charged us around $450 for labor for what was about a half hour job! We complained to their management and eventually got $200 returned. But the fact that they would attempt to charge that much for replacing a part under warranty and which took less than an hour turned us off to them. We now have a service contract with a different company and would not recommend ARS to anyone else.

Description of Work: Initially, the experience was horrible, until we emailed the national office. We found that we had a warranty on the newly installed system(installed in 2011).The system stopped cooling. I called a Angies List provider who couuld not provide assistant until 7/30. I called ARS who came right away. ARS indicated they could not help because the System was "frozen". ARS turneD the system off, left the fan running and left, saying that they would see US sometimes tomorrow. Those two days were the hottest days of year. Both my husband I are disbled. The temperature in the house was over 100 degrees. I sent an email to the national office explaining the circumstanes indicating our 40 year relation. Very early the following morning we received several | calls and an email saying ARS was on the way to remedy our dilemna. ARS came, fixed the system and found that the system |was under warranty. There was no CHARGE FOR THE SERVICE.

Description of Work: They repaired the water heater. |A temperature sensor need to be repair. |The service was good but expensive. |The service call was $75 but to replace the sensor was~$225.So total ~$300. |The sensor cost ~$20 dollars(when I checked online) and the work was 20-30 min and was mainly to attach a new sensor which is rated as level 2 of 5 for do it yourself work. |I would have expect ~$150 total for this kind of service

Description of Work: We had some air conditioning service done with ARS out of the Durham location. They replaced a capacitor on one of the units, installed an overflow kill switch and installed an air scrubber.

Description of Work: I use them regularly for maintenance on my HVAC. Never had a problem of any kind with them. Each person has been courteous and professional. Nice people and good work.

Description of Work: Needed new gas pack. Initially was responsive when getting the sale. Felt like they took time to explain what we needed and why. When we said we were getting more quotes, suddenly they found more discounts to offer and their final price was comparable to others. Seemed concerned about our well-being without heat in cold weather. But once we signed the contract, it seemed to go a bit downhill. They were several hours late for install. I had to call multiple times to get warranty and rebate paperwork. Never showed up to give me said paperwork at scheduled time. Never followed-up to see how we liked the system or to see if we had questions.

Description of Work: Within 2 to 4 weeks of a succesful routine checkup the system would fail requiring hundreds of dollars of repairs. After having this happen 3 times I moved to a different providor.
