What I liked most was that they gave me an honest assessment of the needs of my roof, not repairing more than was needed and in fact asserting that I have many more years of life to expect from the roof. Courteous, timely, and on budget. Would hire again definitely.

We are a repeat customer with ACNC, and I would not hesitate to use them again. They do great work and their employees are a pleasure to deal with. This fall they replaced our roof, repaired rotted trim, and painted our house. We love the results. Neighbors compliment us all the time. ACNC uses the best materials and their attention to detail is superb. I give them my highest recommendation.

I requested a quote through Angies list on 11-27-20. I got a response from the company on 11-30-20 and received a quote on 12-1-20 after Steve came out and looked at roof. I had already gotten four other quotes and was trying to decide who to go with when Steve called back on 12-9-20 to see to see if I had decided, said they had room for a small job in between some bigger jobs. After a little price haggling I told them to go ahead with the job. They came out Friday 12-11-20 at 7:30 am and had old shingles removed and new shingles installed and clean-up done by 4:30pm. I was very pleased with the entire process from first contact to last contact which was Barry stopping by a few days later to pick up check. They were not the lowest quote I received but were by far not the highest either. I would definitely hire for future jobs. Linwood & Kim Timberlake NC

I contacted American Craftsman through Angie’s List. They responded fairly quickly and Steve came out to give me an estimate. I explained to him all I needed was a perma-boot replaced. He said they didn’t just do perma-boots but instead wanted to do a full roof inspection that would include the boot replacement. That seemed a little excessive for what I wanted and considering that their inspection costs $400+ I didn’t think I needed it. He explained that they do a great job w/their inspections and take care of any smaller problems, like small cracks in shingles, nail pops, etc. “They go over the entire roof inch-by-inch.” When I asked him how long it takes he said about 45 minutes not counting the boot replacement. The short story was we agreed on $300 for the inspection and the perma-boot and I signed a contract w/them stating the same. They called me at mid-day on a Friday and said they could do the work. Their guy came out and spent about 20 minutes on the roof – and that’s being charitable. Being inside, I could hear where he went on the roof and it certainly didn’t sound like he went all over the roof. Instead, it seemed that he just was in the one area and put on the perma-boot. I called their office later and complained. We agreed to drop the price to $150. So I give them that for wanting to keep their customers happy. But about a week later we developed a leak not far from the area where they did the work. We had a guy come out and do a roof inspection and he said that they didn’t put on a perma-boot but a cap, which is not the same. It was also clear from the leak that they didn’t do any roof inspection or they would have found that. Thinking I’d give American Craftsman one more chance to fix this I contacted Steve and let him know what happened. Steve called later that day and essentially started yelling at me over the phone and said he didn’t say any of the things that he really did say when we first talked. I just hung up b/c it was obvious he didn’t want to try to keep me as a customer. The short story is – from my experience, these guys are shysters. Don’t get their roof maintenance package – it’s a rip off. If you get them to do any larger jobs then consider keeping your lawyer’s number handy. They violated the contract I signed w/them they’d probably do the same to others.

top quality job, didn't use tar paper but roof underlayment. Also used the real caps on the ridge, not just cut up shingles. Would recommend highly. Very professional and would use again.
It went well from start to finish, from the quote to the work to the final payment process. Very professional, reasonable cost, friendly workmen, cleaned up after each job. Will definitely use them again and recommend them to others..

They did an excellent job and did quicker than we thought they were going to. It had to be done in between the rain days, and when they arrived the shingles hadn't arrived yet. They started stripping the old ones off and the truck had arrived with the new ones. They put them on and got it done by sunset the same day! They also fixed some siding for me and replaced a vent cover. The roof looks great! I would recommend them.

First, let me say I have a beautiful roof with working gutters, no leaks anywhere, and I hope those gutter leaf guards work like they are supposed to. I wish I would have asked if those leaf rejectors work on those pesky sweetgum balls. Secondly, this company did me a favor by doing the job right away instead of putting me on the usual 2-week line up. I already had leaks going on and they were trying to beat another round of rain, so I appreciated that. The problems: 1. The main problem is the form you are given with the estimate. I came away thinking I would be rounding up my money for around $7,000 and I juggled accounts to manage this. The box at the bottom gives only the price of the roof and not the gutters. When I ran this estimate by eight people, only one person (the wife of a lawyer and an astute accountant herself) caught the part about the gutters and leaf guards being stuck in there with the sentence “add below” to the bottom price. The box at the bottom says it is labor and materials for the sum of a previously mentioned total minus 5% the Angie's List discount. I also question why I didn't get the Senior Citizen 10% discount for one thing, as was stated on their website. Some companies do estimates on separate forms for the gutters and roof, which is much clearer. 2. I was living in a fool's paradise already with the gutter issue and then came the news that 90 of those 4 x 8 plywood panels would be needed at the cost of $50 per panel! These things are $15 at Home Depot. Mind you, this added $4,500 to my job. But you the customer cannot be up there on the roof to verify that your decking is rotten and all of it needs to be replaced. Later I saw that 12 panels had not been used and I asked about that, thinking they'd better not be charging me for unused materials. There were some bundles of shingles left too, one of which I claimed in case I needed repairs in the future. I was told that excess material is ordered to not interrupt a job by having to go after more parts or materials. So it came down to 78 panels were used, adding $3,900. This is over 50% of what I thought I'd be paying—a big shock! Later this price per panel was negotiated down slightly in light of the huge whammy this added to my total price and they didn't want me to have a heart attack! I did ask someone for the math schematics on this because even these 78 panels seemed excessive for my house. This is an aspect that every customer should keep in mind with any roofing company, but I wish American Craftsmen would have prepared me better for this onslaught. At least they didn't pressure me when I had to pay in some installments. 3. Despite how I was told how wonderful these gutters and the gutter guards would be, the reality of the downspout extensions wasn't addressed. Somehow the gutter team managed to get the connector boots attached to my horrible BURIED extenders—god only knows HOW as they were completely clogged with dirt and roots and immovable; I got the ax out and cut them from the drainage system so I could connect the new method. I don't know when they had been buried, but I understood quickly enough when I dug them up why my roof was rotting all along the gutters! All gutters are worthless without addressing the carry-away function at the bottom. I understand that most companies are not going to waste time digging up these dinosaurs, BUT the issue needs to be addressed so the customer either goes out and digs the mess up or hires help in getting the proper drainage system set up. American Craftsman came out ahead on this since I had rain barrels in the back and they didn't have to use all the downspout supplies, but the front of the house needed attention. Then when the gutter team came back to cut my downspouts higher up for the above-ground extenders, it was as if no one had told them anything. I had said, texted, and/or emailed my request about four times, but the management still had a failure to communicate with the workers--I don't know which side was to blame. It was a good deal I was home since I had to explain it all over again. 4. Clean up wasn't 100% as claimed. I had plenty of tar paper and wood debris flying around from the roofing job, but I forgave them because it was fiercely cold the days they worked and I did not blame them. But the gutter team left some metal scraps debris, which I picked up. Those could have ruined my lawn mower and were more serious. In the end I paid $11,268 for my new roof, gutters and leaf rejectors. The shingles look beautiful. They are CertainTeed brand with a 50 year prorated warranty.

I'm so grateful they came quickly in the middle of a bunch of storms. They patiently investigated and, when the answer wasn't apparent, they sought assistance. I was so impressed with their professionalism, helpfulness, knowledge, and simply the way they liked working together. We now have a plan for this strange leak.
Description of Work: This team put on a whole new roof for us as well as gutters and gutter guards. I think my husband may have already written a review. . . but today, I had the chance to interact with this team again bc of a leak. They came right away, climbed on the roof and into the attic (where we'd never gone), and found a mysterious pipe bringing water into the attic. They consulted with someone else to determine the function of the pipe and did a temporary fix.

American Craftsman of NC performed a full gutter installation and replaced a large amount of rotten fascia with new rot-resistant PVC fascia. The job was done very efficiently and reasonably, and looks with the color gutter options they provide. Several months on, our water drainage issues are mostly solved and the gutters are holding up great and still looking excellent. We would definitely work with Steven Bell and his team again!

We have a flat EPDM roof over our family room that had a leak and was nearing the end of its effective life. In speaking with several companies, we learned that only some of them make repairs to EPDM roofs and fewer companies actually replace them. We chose American Craftsmen and could not have been happier with their service. This is a company that not only answers their phone, but is happy to answer your questions and is friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and professional. When they had something to check on, they got back to you in a timely manner. Their crew who did the installation arrived in the timeframe we were promised, and they were also friendly, knowledgeable and professional, and cleaned up their mess when they were done. Another reason we liked using them for our roof project is they were able to replace a faulty gutter and a broken piece of siding hanging down on the roof, precluding us from having to find someone else to do that. We will be calling American Craftsmen when we want to replace our siding and windows. They take pride in how they do things, and it’s easy to see why they have so many great reviews. All went well from the initial conversation with Steven Bell, to the decision to have American Craftsmen(NC) do the job, to the completion of the job, and to the submission and verification of the invoices. Actually, American Craftsmen(NC) rescued me after I learned that storm damage to the siding and soffits could not be patched and that the original siding (aluminum) was not available (if at all). (Other companies did not seem interested in dealing with the problem.) In the end, Steven patiently helped to ease my anxiety and explained how it would approach the installation of vinyl siding so as to make the aluminum and vinyl compatible. I liked the attention to the details, the responsiveness to phone calls, the willingness to come to the site as issues arose, and the pleasantness and skill of the installers. When and If the need arises again, I will certainly call that company.

THE COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL TO WORK WITH ON THIS PROJECT. ROOF STARTED ON 2-15-19. PROJECTED 1-3 DAYS TO COMPLETE. THE WEATHER WAS PROJECTING A 7 DAY RAIN EVENT TO START ON 2-16-19. I WAS ADVISED ANY WORK NOT COMPLETED WOULD BE COVERED. I HAD EARLY MORNING APPOINTMENT NOT ARRIVING HOME TILL 9 AM, TO FIND THE WHOLE FRONT OF MY HOME ALMOST DE-SHINGLED TO MY SURPRISE. I MOVED MY CONVERTIBLE ON SIDE STREET, IN CASE UNABLE TO HAVE ABSCESS TO GARAGE FOR COUPLE DAYS. I SAT IN MY CAR FOR AN HOUR WATCHING THE WORKERS IN PROGRESS...THERE WERE 4 WORKERS ON ROOF AND 1 ON THE GROUND. THEY WERE A FINE OILED MACHINE IN ACTION . I WAS AMAZED. TARPS WERE PLACED AROUND THE WHOLE EXTERIOR OF MY HOME, ALSO COVERING SHRUBS. THEY WORKED TILL 8 PM, FINISHING BY STREET LIGHTS. MY ROOF WAS COMPLETED IN 1 DAY......THE WORKERS WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS........THEY CANVASED AREA WITH MAGNETIC DEVICES TO PICK UP NAILS THEN USED VACUUM ON DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE FLOOR.... I WAS A HAPPY HOMEOWNER WITH COMPLETED NEW ROOF A DAY BEFORE RAINS HIT.. MY NEW GUTTER SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED WHEN RAINS STOPPED. THEY WERE COMPLETED IN 1 DAY....

It started out so well--the price was reasonable I appreciated the fact that he told me I didn't need a new roof yet (which I expected). Instead, we were able to handle the repairs by replacing some severely leaking gutters. The problem was at installation - the workers were rushed, grim and unresponsive to even a friendly hello. They left nails on the patio and did not replace furniture when they left. AND they left behind a full box of gutter "elbows" which are still sitting in my driveway - months later (I fully expected them to pick them up but not a word). I have very mixed feelings about this franchised business - nice people, good intentions but they need to do some customer service training with their employees and make sure they pick up after themselves and perhaps even crack a smile. We planned to use them again at another house but have decided to find someone else instead.
