They arrived when they said they would. They assessed the situation and we arrived at a solution and a cost estimate. They then had to go to a supplier to secure some hardware necessary to effect the repair. They were back very quickly and were successful in making the repair. They also noticed a problem with another shutter on the front of the house and quickly effected the same repair there before any more damage could be done to that shutter. In summary, they were prompt, courteous and professional. I will definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to others.

From my first contact through final inspection, American Craftsmen's Steve, Barry, and crews were punctual, knowledgable, professional and performed high quality work. I would use them again without hesitation.

I had a great experience overall. American Craftsman was reasonably priced, had good products, and you could tell they put the customer first. We will need additional windows replaced in the future and there is no doubt that we will be using them again.

Estimate was thorough. Offered suggestions on alternatives. Work was completed promptly and area was clean after work was complete.

Everything pretty much went well. They were very helpful to do repairs of anytime I needed them.

I had used American Craftsman in the past to repair leaks, etc. and was impressed with their knowledge. They were also friendly and respectful. So, when it was time for our 25 year old roof to be replace, we called them back. I knew that they were going to give me a good roof when they said they used Certainteed 30 year shingles which were top rated by Consumer Reports. Also, they used materials that were recommended on many of the top quality building websites. All of the workers who came to our home were pleasant and professional. They went out of their way to explain what they were doing, showing us the materials they were installing and pointing out areas of concern. They left the yard neat at the end of each day. They even endured the occasional escape of one of our three pug dogs who believed they were present to play with her. There was a small crack in one of our skylights and Barry said they would pay to have that repaired. I am impressed with their honesty. We will need to replace some windows in the near future and you can be sure we will call America Craftsman again.

It went awesome - after dealing with 2 other contractors / roofers who did not solve my leak problem, they fixed it completely and went above and beyond to prevent future problems. I highly recommend them.

I've used American Craftsmen of NC before and they did good work. This job was a single exterior door replacement, a small job. For this work, I requested an estimate two different times from American Craftsmen via their website form and I didn't get a response. Finally, after a couple more tries -- one via the phone and another via Angie's list contact message, Steven contacted me and dropped by to take a look at the door. When I called Steven to ask about the estimate, he mentioned he had sent it to me. Apparently there was a communication issue (possibly a wrong email address?). In the end, I never received the estimate that he worked up, although he did give mention on the phone his quoted price for the work. I ended up getting the work done by another contractor. Steve contacted me by phone today and apologized for not being responsive enough and for the communication breakdown (i.e. that I never received the estimate he drew up for me). I really appreciated his honesty and willingness to apologize. Given that the issues with the estimate and responsiveness seem to be a one-time occurrence, I would call them for again future work when/if the need arises.

We were getting some discoloration in the living room ceiling and suspected the skylights. We chose American Craftsmen based on Angie's list data. They diagnosed the problem and made a series of suggestions ranging in price and likelihood of length of repair; for example, repair vs. replacement of skylights). Water infiltration is tricky, and so we opted to have them replace the skylights (which were pretty old and a bit unattractive by now) with newer technology. They also did a roof "tuneup" and resealed all points of potential infiltration such as roof seams, vents, and chimney. They came out four times; first to consult, then to measure precisely once I made some decisions, then to install, and finally to see how we liked the work. We dealt with Steve, who is very nice and extremely competent. We communicated both over phone and email without any delays; the were very responsive and accommodating to our schedules (we both work). They did a great job, even cleaned the roof and deck afterwards. When we repaint the outside next year, I will hire them again.

Setting up an appointment through Angie's List was easy. Steven was punctual, friendly, and professional. He did a thorough investigation of our roof leak, which we've been trying repair for the past 4 years. We received a quote of $450 for a roof tune-up + further investigation of the leak and a separate quote of ~$10,000 for a complete roof replacement. Ultimately we chose a different company due to cost consideration. When we do replace our roof, we will strongly consider using this company.

I have had a leak coming from the roof for months. After another roofing company came out and told me it was coming from the gas furnace vent and for me to call a heating and a/c person, I did. Even though the leak is not anywhere near this pipe. The heating/ac gentlemen sealed everything but he said he did not thing this was the cause of this leak. After my son inspected the attic and then the roof it was determined that the leak was coming from the plumbing pipe. I spoke with the people at American Craftsmen and they were wonderful. They came out inspected and sealed everything stating that if leak was not fixed all I had to do was call them and they would be back. Everyone at American Craftsmen goes out of their way to explain what they are doing and I will use them when it is time for a new roof. Someone from their company is getting back to me about more insulation in the attic.

I was very pleased with Rodney's communication. When I wanted to schedule, he asked me (a female) if there was a "partner, husband, or wife, or other homeowner" because he wanted all of the property owners to be present because a new roof is a big decision. I was very happy that he didn't assume I had a partner, and one who was male at that (even though I do). We ended up having to cancel because of a family emergency that put stress on our finances, but I would recommend Rodney as LGBT-friendly to any of my friends.

During the ice storm this winter and on at least two other occasions, we noticed a leak around one of our windows in our sunroom. We called American Craftsmen, along with a few others (including a company we had used in the past). They were the only ones who had their estimator come out to the house and get up on the roof to check things out and identify the problem. One company used satellite imagery to look at our roof and another was only recommending a service over the phone. Needless to say, we felt most comfortable with them. From the time we sent in the contract, it was less than 48 hours for them to come out and do the work. Within a week after the repair work, we had another hard, heavy rain with wind, that was similar to those that we had when we saw the leak. No leak! American Craftsman was prompt, reasonably priced, and they got the job done right!

We had issues with the chimney flashing peeling away from the roof along with moderate areas of fascia board damage on the second story. We were expecting this to be painful repair issue both cost wise and "hassle factor" wise. We could not be more surprised at the level of professionalism, courtesy and cost we received from American Craftsmen!!! The estimator Steve was excellent. He reviewed in detail the issues and provided a step by step plan for the repair. The estimate was more than fair. Steve indicated the team we would be assigned would contact us prior to arriving and they were absolutely true to their word. Our team Mike and Matt went above and beyond in the repair. They spent all the time necessary to complete our job to the highest standard. Mike and Matt were professional and respectful. We appreciated their attention to detail and would highly recommend American Craftsmen for any one needing any type of home repair/roof work done.

Steep roof, did a great job, understood the job and limitations on cost.

They installed Leaf Off brand gutter guards on my 2 story house. They selected the best color match for my roof and ordered them right away. They came out to install within 2 weeks. Everything went fine, and the gutter guards are working great (we had a lot of rain this week, so I was able to see them in action). They weren't the lowest quote I got, but I've had American Craftsmen of NC do some other work for me, and I knew they'd do a good job. Also, the quality of the Leaf Off guards is much better than the gutter guards the other companies sell.

Excellent service. We shopped around for gutter repair/replacement before settling on American Craftsmen. They were the only ones who took the time to explain exactly what they would do, how they would do it, and why they would use the techniques/tools/materials recommended in their estimate. The job was completed in a punctual and professional manner. I will definitely use their service again.

They replaced my roof. Each time it rained hard after that the roof leaked. Each time (3 times now) they told me they took care of it. Now it is leaking into my newly remodeled kitchen. I have placed two urgent calls to the answering service and have not had a response.

Steve Sykes was right on time for the estimation. The crew was likewise on time for installation. They completed the job in less than a day, and they cleaned up after themselves. I tipped the crew $40. I previously used this vendor for roof and gutter work (May 2011), and I will continue to use them for diverse construction projects around the home.

All done in one day. They cleaned up very well and are working with insurance carrier too as this was due to an insurance claim.
