I had an outstanding experience with them. It was a reasonable estimate that they gave me and stuck to it. They showed up on time and did an excellent job. The job was executed quickly. They cleaned up after themselves. I couldn?t be happier. I got a good product at a good price. The estimate was originally for gutter replacement, but once we got in to laying the gutters it needed some wood replacement, and I just asked them to do half of the roof as well. I had a rip a few years ago where an oak tree fell in the back of the house. The insurance company replaced all the roofing including the sub roofing on the back half of the house, so I had American Craftsmen do the front half.

Overall we were extremely satisfied with the work preformed by American Craftsmen. In fact, our only complaint is the failure to provide notice that the work on our roof was delayed by a day. We have just moved to NC and the house was built in the 1950s. Although we had the home inspected, we felt that since the roof was not new, it could benefit from a tune-up. One of the leaks was along the roof ridge and the other was clearly around the fireplace. Since we were advised that repairing these leaks would be in the range of $400, the ridge-vent and tune-up seemed to be excellent recommendations. Steve was pleasant and professional. He called a couple of days after the next rainfall to see how the roof held up. The bill came a few days later. Then a few days after sending payment, we received a Thank You card! We highly recommend American Craftsmen.

Rodney came out on time to assess the property, make measurements, etc. (not all of the bidders did). He walked me through the options and didn't do a hard sell at all. He gave me an accurate timeline for events, and kept me updated every step of the way. His crew had the job done in less than a day and a half--they worked very, very efficiently. Now, 8 days after I first called them, I have a new roof, and nothing else in my yard/house has a scratch. It's like they were never here--they did a beautiful job. An absolute pleasure to deal with.

Great. This is the second time we used their services. They responded to our request within a couple of days. The two men who came were very nice, got right to work, and were pleasant even though they had to crawl into a tight space to find the problem. They fixed things up perfectly!

I was contacted quickly and the workers came out as scheduled and worked very quickly. The owner followed up immediately by phone to insure the job was done well. The workers were professional and responsive. It has been several weeks and we have had significant rains and I have not detected any additional leaks, so it appears the problem was solved on the first try.

Went wonderful. No mess left behind. Everything was cleaned up and neat. I found Mr. Turner very professional to work with. Roof and gutters look great.

Rodney did a great job demonstrating how to un-install these storm windows. We would not have been able to do it without his assistance and knowledge. He helped us obtain a special tool that is used to take out the windows. Both Rodney and the storm window company did not charge us for any of this service. Incredible customer service!

I needed to get my aging roof replaced and got estimates from 3 Angie's List roofers. Rodney's quote came in at the middle, and I selected him because he took time to explain in detail what the work would entail and did not try to oversell me on extras that I did not need. He uses a regular team of workmen, not a rotating group of sub-contractors, all of whom were courteous professionals. After the job was finished, Rodney met with me to inspect the work together. I'd quickly recommend him to anyone else looking for roofing, gutters or siding.

The experience I had with American Craftsmen was exactly as others have described. I worked mainly with Steve Sykes, who came to my home and wrote up all the estimates. He was extremely knowledgeable, taking the time to explain all the work to be done in layman's terms. He respected my budget and desires for my home, not recommending any "extra" work. After the initial estimates were signed, Rodney came by and personally verified all window measurements, making sure everything was accurate and we all were on the same page. This level of attention to detail and customer service made me very comfortable with this company. The job was closely managed by Rodney and Steve, I did not have to worry at all. The job is done and I am completely satisfied, I received a great value for the money I spent. Thanks Rodney and Steve, I will definitely enlist your services again in the future!

Went smoothly, crew arrived on time, completed work the same day they came. One of the screens was torn on delivery. Rodney ordered and installed a replacement (he came and fixed it while I was at work)

These guys were the best -- the most professional crew we have ever experienced. Rodney called me back the same day and was able to work with our schedule to come onsite and provide an estimate. He was very good about explaining all of the labor and materials that would be involved and helping us to make informed choices about materials and warranties. We signed a contract that same day and had our new roof the next week. The roof looks beautiful and the gutter gaurds are almost invisible. Everything went exactly as Rodney had indicated. His crew was very professional and completed the job in a day and a half. They were able to determine the source of our leak and took steps to fix it (we've had massive rain since and no indications of leaking). They were also very careful about preventing damage to the landscape and cleaning up afterwards. Rodney was extremely good about communicating with us, so we always knew what was going on and when. This was a great experience, and we would definitely use them again.

The guy was really nice. He came over and talked to us. He was not pushy and offered us a good financial plan.

They did a very good job. They came out promptly to give an estimate, which they provided in writing. We scheduled the work and they did it on time and cleaned up all debris. Their communication was very good and they do use email, which was helpful. The final price was higher than the estimate but they worked with us and were very helpful.

The roofers worked like wildmen to get all the shingles that we had agreed done in a day - very impressive! Then we realized we had not discussed replacing the shingles on the small roof over the garage and the one over the bay window. Rodney got someone back to do that quickly for a small, reasonable cost. The gutter guards were installed a week later and everything looks great.

Rodney impressed us as serious, hard-working, and smart. His estimate was in the middle of the field, and he stuck to it even though he ran into one or two small surprises. He talked to us about installing skylights in an intelligent and patient way and put a lot of thought into the project. He gave us a list of houses with the shingles we were considering so that we could go see them to help us decide. He started the job when he said he would and did everything in a timely manner. The roof was finished in just over a day. His crew worked well together and did what he told them to do. They cleaned up after themselves beautifully and made every effort to spare our plants. The skylights entailed several subsequent steps -- framing, boxing, drywall, painting. The people he got to do this work did their parts well and on time. Rodney kept the whole job moving along smoothly, calling frequently to check that things were getting done or to tell us when the next part of the job would happen. When a minor thing or two went wrong he came right over and fixed it -- Rodney really wants to you to be satisfied. We are very pleased.

The sales guy, Steve, came, did his thing, and gave us an estimate. We went on vacation. The work team came and did the work. We got back from vacation. We liked the new roof. The owner, Rodney, then came to collect a check. At that time I mentioned a small siding repair that I had requested, but forgot to include as a line item. So it was neither billed for, nor did the workers have any way to know about it. He could have fairly told me that I was out of luck. Instead, he determined that the repair required a shade of caulk he didn't have on hand. He returned a couple of days later with the caulk and did the repair at no extra charge. That was a nice touch.

From quote to completion the job was handled very professional and the work was completed as discussed. The team did a great job in fixing the roof and Moises Bautista did a marvelous job on the gutters. There was no evidence he'd even been at the home. Steve did a great job in quoting and managing the job from quote to color of the new gutter to match the home paint color. I will include them when I begin my search for a company for a new roof and siding repair.

I am happy with the product that I received.

UPDATE: I am just seeing the response to my review, and am infuriated by it. When coming to provide the estimate, the vendor didn't inspect the involved area of the attic, as it is very difficult to access. I showed him photographs (from my inspection) that showed the roof sheeting was discolored with water stains. We agreed in advance this was likely to require replacement; he asked that I obtain the OSB and shingles; I still have the receipts I went to pick up them up well in advance of the date of the repair. I had suspected from our phone conversation I was dealing with an unscrupulous vendor; that's been confirmed by his distortion of the facts. The good part of the experience was the fine work that was done. When the house was built, the duct from a bathroom fan was run to a hole in the roof sheeting over which were laid shingles. Without a proper cap, the fan provided no ventilation, but the shingles let rain water trickle down to the fan and surrounding ceiling. In no time, Dan and his son stripped away the shingles and cut out the OBS that had softened from repeated wetting. They cut a replacement piece, made an opening for the duct work, installed the vent cap and new shingles. As requested, they also inspected the roof for other potential damage and found none. All this took about an hour and they left the site s*** and span. I had to go into the attic to connect the fan duct and was amazed at the close tolerances of work they did with just a circular saw atop my 3 story roof. It poured the day after and there was absolutely no evidence of a leak. The part I didn?t like about this service was the interaction with Rodney Turner. He took every call as an opportunity to increase the quote on the job. That was OK, as I didn?t consider the price fixed until he submitted a written proposal, to which I agreed, for $380. Obviously, Rodney didn?t feel the same because the invoice was for $430. When we spoke, he said he wasn?t about to let his reputation be tarnished over $50, but he wouldn?t acknowledge we had a written agreement, saying there was additional work that had been done, and he certainly didn?t let the issue go until I told him I?d pay the full amount. It soured the experience. This house isn't old, but there's plenty to fix. I was looking for someone I could count on to do proper job from start to finish this time and every other. I got part of what I was seeking, quality work, so I may use this contractor again, but I?ll think twice about it first.

The overall experience was great. I called them out to look at a few things that needed repair at my home. Steve Sykes, who works with Rodney, came to my home and looked over everything very thoroughly, gave me a great estimate, and that's what the project ended up costing. The work was scheduled quickly and the workers were prompt. Both Rodney and Steve came back after everything was done to check the work and fixed the one or two little things that needed a second look. They only asked for payment when the work was completed to my satisfaction. I thought they were great and did very competent work. Although I might have been able to have the work done less expensively, I think the attention to detail and their follow-up on everything was well worth the small percentage extra it likely cost than some other competitors. I will use them again if I need any other work done on my house.

Rodney (owner) was very professional, friendly and accommodating. He saved me money by advising on delaying replacing my roof for another year and not replacing the windows and sliding glass down in my basement (that I don't heat or cool). He was very complete in explaining my options available and detailing how the windows worked to save energy as well as the warranty coverage which he personally supervises. He makes himself available to his customers to answer any questions or concerns before, during and after the work is done which is truly rare and wonderful. I look forward to him replacing my roof in a few years.

It was a terrible experience from start to finish. The workmanship was so poor. There are cracks in the caulking. They offer a 5 year warranty on all labor but he came three times this past Friday and told me it was perfectly normal for caulking to crack like that and that I was being too particular about the work. Whenever they said they would fix it, they ended up not doing it. I want the poor workmanship taken care of.

Plan to stay in house for retirement so spent extra for Certainteed?s 50 year warranty shingles. To get best full warranty Rodney and crew had to take tests for extra certificates from Certainteed, which they did at no extra cost to us. Rodney was very professional. He came and discussed options with us several times. He was willing to negotiate and explore different combinations of options. Underestimated # of shingles (50 year takes more) and had to order more but did not charge us extra, as he promised. The only extra charge was $100 for some board replacement, which we knew was a possibility. The crew was pleasant to talk to, professional. They completely cleaned up everything ? no mess at all left. Rodney checked back later (after being paid) to make sure we received the warranty information from Certainteed. Rodney knows his business, provides great customer service, true to his word, professional, good to deal with. Highly recommend Rodney and American Craftsman.
