I initially contacted American Craftsmen of NC online and we heard back from Rodney early the next business day. He set up a time to come out to our house and give us an estimate. This visit took longer than we expected (in a good way) because he was very thorough in going over everything (the types of replacement windows they use, options available, and the ordering and installation process). We expected he'd have to get back to us with an estimate so we were pleasantly surprised when he sat down and gave it to us right then. We had estimates scheduled with other companies, but between the reviews on Angie's List and meeting Rodney in person, we had enough trust in him to just go ahead with his company and cancel our other estimates. So, I can't really speak to how his price would compare to other companies ..... from reading through other reviews I'd guess it's somewhere in the middle. It took about 4.5 weeks from the time we ordered the windows until the installation took place. This met with the timeline Rodney gave us (about 3 weeks for the windows to come in and another 2 weeks until they'd be able to come out and install). The installers were here for 2 days, but they worked to minimize the amount of time they had to spend inside our home (they got all the windows in and then the rest of the work was done outside). They were professional and did a great job. Rodney made a mistake when ordering our windows and got 3 the wrong size. He ended up going above and beyond to rectify his mistake! Lucky for us, the 3 incorrectly sized windows were a perfect fit for the only 3 windows we weren't planning to replace (attic dormer windows). He ordered the correct windows and when they came in, had the installers put in the 3 they weren't able to do the first time they were here AND the 3 attic windows. He did not charge us for these windows so we ended up getting 26 for the price of 23. I'm really glad he did this for us because even though the attic ones didn't need to be replaced, the front of our house has a much more even look now that all the windows are the same. Thanks, Rodney!! Overall we were very happy with our experience and would definitely use this company again.

Rodney came to our home to meet with us...insisting that he met with both husband and wife, so we arranged a time that we could both meet him. He explained what he had to offer in a very down to earth manner. (he is very approachable!) He then came up with an estimate that was lower than a couple other companies, but still inspired confidence. We scheduled the date, he was right on time with his estimate of timeline. He sent a window technician out, (they were early even!) and done in less time than he had expected. He then came to inspect the work. He worked very hard to get our business without being a "salesman" and explained everything thoroughly. We will definitely use this company again!

They seemed honest and upright, but it was just that their quote was too high so I decided to keep looking. If their quote had been in the ball park I probably would have considered them because they had good reviews. The man I spoke to was very professional and courteous and he did not turn me off on his demeanor. Their representative showed up on time as we agreed on.

We were completely satisfied with the work done and, especially, the great clean-up job. We did not find a single nail or any pieces of shingle in our yard -- amazing! Rodney was very helpful in explaining what would be done, and he provided several addresses to look at to help us decide between two shingle colors/brands. In summary, our experience with American Craftsmen was free of any problems and met our expectations.

They were punctual, professional and even did some minor repairs on our old gutters. They were a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them. When I replace our roof I plan on giving them a call.

Rodney was great to work with. After the initial installation, we were concerned about the fit a of a couple of the windows. Rodney's crew quickly took care of the problems. They did a thorough job of carefully recaulking all the seams of all the windows. Great service! This is an expensive product (not Rodney's fault!), but we are very happy with the result.

Rodney came out to do the quotation. He was very thorough in explaining his level of service. He took a lot of time going around the house and took detailed notes. He then made a number of calls to find exact replacement shingles even though the style had been discontinued. He told us it would be a week before a crew could get out but ended up squeezing us in even sooner, on a Saturday. Not more than 30 mins after his crew finished, he followed up with a phone call to make sure we were happy with the quality of the work and made certain to tell us to call him back if there were any issues. But the work was great. The crew forgot to leave us the leftover shingles so they drove back the next day and dropped them off. To round it out he was super friendly to our kids. All-in-all a completely positive experience.

The estimator arrived on time. He quickly gave me the estimate and told me when the work was done. The work was done just as promised. On time, on spec and on budget. Good work.

Rodney Turner, the company owner, came out to give me the estimate. This was my third estimate, and he was by far the most detailed in explaining the overall process, what to expect, and the nitty gritty on the different products he recommended and why. He spent a lot of time patiently answering my many questions. After deciding to go with his company, he gave me the addresses for houses I could check out that have the various shingle colors I was considering. This was incredibly helpful since it's hard to get a really good idea on the colors until you see them up on a roof. My roof job was scheduled within 2 weeks of getting the estimate. The crew showed up bright and early on the scheduled day and got right to work. Rodney told me this same crew has worked together for some time, and it definitely seemed that they worked really well and efficiently together. The roof was almost done by that evening, with just a few final details and cleanup the next morning. The new gutters and guards were installed the next day. The new roof and gutters look great, and most importantly they've been doing their job this past week with the tons of rain we've been getting!

Our roofing experience was terrific. At first Rodney told us about a repair option, gave us time to think it over, and we decided to go ahead and replace the old roof. Then he gave us the metal and shingle roof options; after more time to think, we opted for a light-colored metal roof, which should help reflect sunlight and keep our interior cool. Rodney's team worked diligently to remove the old roof and chimneys, and to put on our new fabulous roof. Rodney was in contact with me every step of the way, available for questions any time. We greatly appreciated his availability and honesty--he also anticipated any hitches that happened in the schedule, and worked very hard to keep us informed and give us options. We feel we got an outstanding value and really love our new beautiful roof; not only does it look good, it has proven to work well in the recent downpours here.

Steve Sykes was my contact person throughout the project. He initially met with me in great detail about the roof and shingle options (including metal roof). The owner, Rodney Turner, was kind enough to send me addresses of homes with the 2 different shingles I wanted to see on an actual house rather than just decide by samples. Steve also dropped off sample shingles that he did not have available on his first visit. The actual work took a little longer than initially projected (a little over 2 days) and I was a bit surprised that the workmen started before 7:30 am. Someone from the company did meet one of my neighbors, explained what was going on and asked my neighbor to let the workers know if there were any problems. Rodney came to make the final inspection after the work was completed. The workers did leave more of a mess than expected but Rodney cleaned it up himself. I was not prepared for the amount of damage to my shrubbery, but Rodney did say they would help if plants needed to be replaced. He also gave me a bit off the total bill for some minor damage done to my deck. I also received a very nice "Thank you" call from Steve once everything was done. My BIGGEST mistake was leaving my dog home alone on the first day of work. She was very upset by all the noise (she is a very calm dog by nature) and had a number of "accidents" in the house. I would advise any pet owners to either be home with your animals or make alternated arrangements for them (which I did the second and third days). I also wish American Craftsment could take credit cards. It was a challenge to come up with that amount of cash.

Steve gave me an estimate and was able to answer questions about the energy credit accurately. I had to call several times about the estimate and Steve responded quickly and with accurate information each time. The men showed up on time to do the work, got it done and cleaned up the mess well. I was impressed with the work that was done and will use this company in the future.

I met with Rodney Turner on Wednesday. He arrived on time and gave me the best estimate. I had several other estimates that were as much as $3,000 higher for the same work. Mr. Turner's estimate was for a 30 yr roof and the other, higher priced estimates were only for 25 yr roofs. His company also gave a better warranty and they are Certainteed Certified. American Craftmen could start the work on Monday. The other companies said I would have to wait a month or more for them to start. American Craftsmen completed the work in a day and a half. The crew were very nice and professional. I asked them some questions and they took the time to answer them. They also did a fantastic clean up job. I did not find the first nail or trash anywhere. Mr. Turner returned to inspect the work and made sure the roof, siding and satelite were taken care of. Mr. Turner also called the night before the job, to make sure I knew when to expect his crew. The entire experience was quick, professional, well priced and no hassles. I would highly recommend American Craftsmen of NC. They do a great job.

It was a delightful exchange. Rodney got back to me the day I called. We arranged the whole scenario by phone and e-mail, and the roof was fixed the following day. Easy as pie. The two men who came out, Dana and Dana Jr., were thorough, congenial, and punctual. They ALSO cleaned up every trace of their visit. AND they told me my roof was in good shape--most welcome news. :-)

Rodney is very much "on top" of the whole process. He first visited and did the estimating, reviewing my needs and options. He then came onsite during the job to make sure everything was going OK, and followed up after the job. Along the way, he made sure that the details I wouldn't have thought about (like where the materials would be stored on my property before the job) were handled. Communications were just excellent! He was very careful to schedule times and the work was done quickly and completely. The crew was also excellent. They simply came and did the job - quickly and efficiently. They made sure they weren't trapping my car in the driveway and worked (successfully) to make sure that my satellite dish wouldn't need to be re-set. They were careful about getting rid of old roofing without damaging my house and yard. They cleaned up after themselves completely. Couldn't have been better!

The sales person was very friendly and spent an hour educating my husband and I on every issue of replacing the roof and gutters. We appreciated all of the information and the time spent with us. He was very patient. He didn't think that our gutters needed replacing but made the quote so that we could add it in if we decided to have the roof done and added a discount if we decided to replace the gutters too. We talked to several companies and this one gave us the most information. We decided to use another company (from Angies list) only because they gave a better price.

Rodney set up the estimate appointment promptly and never missed a chance to communicate the status of the job. He gave me a fair price and helped me by fixing problems caused by some poor workmanship a few years ago. Rodney promised the crew would not leave a mess and he was right. My neighbor remarked that she didn't think we had the job done because the yard was so clean everyday! The work crews where on time, professional and did an outstanding job. I really go my money's worth. The roof looks great! I have had some great recommendations from angie's list and this contactor did not disappoint. Use them if you want the job done right!

Just a great experience overall. Their sales rep was highly professional and willing to answer all my questions about the pros and cons of various gutter guard options (uncovered, screened, or helmet-style). We wound up going with the helmet-style guards, which have worked just as well as promised so far. The workman showed up on time and completed the job within a few hours. He did miss a minor siding repair job that was included in the estimate. After I called to follow up about this, Rodney (the owner of the business) came out to take care of the repair himself. I highly recommend these guys.

They graciously took on what I was afraid would be too small a job for a serious roofing company. They didn't charge me much and were both prompt and courteous on the job. The business manager was very polite, as well, and very responsive. I'll be looking to them, in the future, for other work in need of doing at my home.

it was good..........we were pleased to know that we could do a roof-tune-up rather than replace the roof........we know this is not a permanent solution but it's working for now.

He looked at my roof from a distance and said I needed a new roof. Then when he went up to look at it, he said that I didn't need a new roof. They responded very promptly. They came out within 24 hours. They were great. I recommend them to my friends.

We were interested in having replacement windows installed in our home and had already had quotes from two other companies. Rodney Turner was recommended by a friend so we had him come for a presentation. We were impressed with his professional manner and pleased with his quote and decided to give him the job. He told us when the windows would be delivered and when they would be installed and everthing happened just as he said it would. The installers were right on time,very curteous and professional,and did an excellent job. We are very happy with our new windows an would not hesitate to recommend Rodney and American Craftsmen of NC to others.

I am not the most trusting consumer and I question everything- particularly when it comes to spending my hard-earned money. Rodney Turner, owner/manager of American Craftsman and his experienced crew did a great job and I can honestly highly recommend this company. From the introduction to their products, to the follow-up after the clean up, this group met each of my expectations. My roof was approximately 18-20 years old. I had experienced several leaks (that I could see) and the flashing around my chimney needed to be redone. I read comments on Angie's list about several roofing companies and based on this information, asked for two estimates and chose this group because time frame (able to begin almost immediately), their friendly-informative attitude, and a reasonable price. I was told from the start, in detail, what I could expect from the process and it happened just as I was told. The crew was very experienced. They were on-time; they worked very hard through the two days it took; always polite and very professional. Supplies were delivered on a Wednesday. Rodney (owner/manager) stopped by to ensure everything was there for the crew to begin the next day. When the crew arrived, they laid out tarps surrounding the house to catch old roofing and debris. They cleaned up at the end of the day. I never found any nails or debris of any kind following their work. When I had a question about a cracked board which I had seen while inspecting my attic; they repaired it. The crew kept me informed of their findings. There was some addtional damage to the roof that couldn't be seen until the shingles were removed. I was told prior to the start that this could happen. Prior to fixing, they addressed the additonal expenses for my approval (it wasn't much). They did not accept any payment until the job was complete and had my approval. The entire crew was polite, professional, and focused. They came; they worked hard; they cleaned up; and they followed up. As a group, they were committed to quality AND at what I believe to be a very reasonable price!

They were totally professional and thorough from start to finish and I was very impressed with their attention to even the smaller details. I appreciated their keeping me informed with weather delays and their ever-courteous manners from the owner down to the individual installlers.
