 + -1 moreOverall, I they did exactly what I needed, did it well, and quickly. I spent $112.40 for them to come out and replace one lock, and fix another lock. I thought it was a very fair price.
Description of Work: We had a an old push-button lock that had become stuck. We ended up locking ourselves out several times before it got to the point where we couldn't open the door from the inside, either. At that point I looked on Angie's List, and decided to try A-1 Locksmiths. They arrived on time, took a look at our 1972 lock, and replaced it efficiently. They also fixed the push-button lock on the front door. I was very pleased with them. They were professional, courteous, on time, and worked quickly. I will definitely use them again, if the need arises, and I would recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: We had 8 new locks installed (4 single cylinders and 4 deadbolts). We purchased higher quality locks and had them all keyed the same. We were provided with 8 new keys.

I actually arrived late and they were still able to be done in less than an hour. Rick was incredibily knowledgeable and went above and beyond in performing a few minor repairs to my doors. I would use this company again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: I needed the locks re-keyed on 4 doors. All of the locks with the exception of one included a 2-way deadbolt with a lock in the door handle. Therefore, there were 10 locks total.

 + -1 moreShe gave an approximate cost if I would have to use a locksmith. I described my problem with geting my key in the lock itself and she said they would squirt some graphite oil in there because the pins gets stuck sometimes, so she recommended that I do that before calling to have someone come out because that would be all they would do. She was very friendly and helpful.
Description of Work: I called because I was having trouble getting my key in the lock and she gave me some tips on fixing the problem.

They even called to see if they could move it up, which I wasn't quite happy to do. They were reasonably priced. I was very satisfied. I had no problems.

 + -1 moreAfter we searched Angie's List we found A-1 Lock & Safe of North Carolina we called and were able to get an appointment when we wanted. When the locksmith's arrived they went right to work and got the lock sets re-keyed in the house really quickly. After looking at the lock sets in the shed and utility room they determined they could not be re-keyed, but they were able to replace the lock sets with lock sets they had on the truck. It took the locksmiths less then 45 minutes to re-key the locks in the house and replace the lock sets in the shed and utility room.
Description of Work: We had the the locks in our house re-keyed and had the lock sets in a shed and utility room replaced since the lock sets were not able to be re-keyed.

 + -1 moreRicky Archer came out on a very hot and humid day and had to do some of the work outside. He was workmanlike and didn't complain, just did the job.
Description of Work: I did not have a key to a house that we own, so Ricky Archer had to pick the handle lock on the front door, then pick the lock on the back door handle. I wanted the dead bolts and handle locks to use the same key. He rekeyed both dead bolts and both handle locks and made me four key copies. He also made two key copies of a different dead-bolt key for three other doors in the house. This work took him quite a while...he was at the house about an hour and a half because, after rekeying, he adjusted an existing dead bolt to make it work more easily, which job required that he use an electric drill. He was professional, efficient, and he knows his job. The bill was reasonable because of the amount of time he worked and the number of key copies he made. There was a small extra charge for having to pick locks, which I had been told on the phone before he met me at the house.

Description of Work: The assigned locksmith arrived on time at each house and changed locks on my two daughter's houses and my house at approximately $171 per house. He did a fine job but it seemed to take forever at each house. Did not have a part for one daughter's lock and wanted to charge a full $50 to return and install the part. We all liked the five keys included with each house change over. The locksmith could not pick a cabinet lock on our LANE cedar chest but when I found the hinges, he charged $10 to remove the hinges to get it open.

 + -1 moreEverything was fine, except that the locksmith missed one door. It was partially my fault, because I didn't count that door and told him the wrong number, and he didn't see it. I called and left a message on Thursday, didn't hear back, called back on Tuesday, and he came back out. I was charged half of a "service call" charge for him having to drive back out. Since he was coming from Durham to Raleigh, I figured this was acceptable. A bit more than I wanted to pay, but altogether, a very good experience.

Description of Work: I believe that I had a Blond moment, I was using the wrong key and forcing it into the lock. The gentlemen that came out to my Home was a true gentleman and explained that I was using the wrong key and didn't make me feel like a fool. He made new keys(two extra) at no charge and tightened the back door knob and checked out and adjusted my front door knob. From the time I called until arrival was 30 minutes! I will be using A-1 Locksmith and I encourage others to do the same. For only the call out fee I received excellent service and tips tha t I could do to keep my locks in good working condition.
