+ -1 moreDealing with owner Jace was easy. He was thoroughly professional, informative and punctual for our initial meeting and his pricing was fair. His 3-man painting crew started at 9AM and the job was completed by 5PM. They were courteous, efficient and neat and the finished product met my expectations. For this project, I interviewed 4 painting contractors, CertaPro's price quote was not the lowest, nor was it the highest quote that I received. But it was a competitive price. After interviewing all of my initially selected contractors I felt most comfortable with the information and responses I received from CertaPro of North Charlotte. Now that the work has been completed, I can say that my due diligence led me to picking the right contractor for my project. Jace and his CertaPro crew have delivered a very good looking finished product along with a sense of "value received for money spent". I would recommend contacting him if you are looking for a "professional" painting contractor for your project

They perform quality work AND have $2M General Liability and $500,000 Workers Compensation Insurance in effect. Jace Gates is manager. Thanks.
Description of Work: In 2010 we had problem with fascia rottening due to improper roof shingle install originally. Then we replaced most of it with PVC board and repainted, but that was just a bandaid. I also updated my step rails then to PVC because of the rotting wood. The Weekley Homes used "chipboard" on trim with is nothing more than particleboard. This spring the rot along the trim boards and around the windows and doors started getting worse. To make matters worse I detected TERMITES in the rotten wood at the corner of the front porch that appeared on the outside to be fine (see video). We got rid of the termites thanks to Lake Norman Pest Control and this spring looked for someone to do this carpentry and paint work. I checked out quite a few folks, but not many would do the carpentry work along with the painting. I picked CertaPro since they had done the clubhouse; however, it was CertaPro of Salisbury that did that work; this is CertaPro of North Charlotte. They also had insurance which most of the others did not have insurance. But to answer your question Jeff the top railing was updated since the wood had rotted. They replaced the door trim all the way around with PVC board. They painted all of the chairs. Repaired the bases of the porch pillars. All the windows with the exception of the window on the porch (which was fine) were also updated. All the corner boards and other trim were replaced with PVC board. This along with the cement siding should last many, many years. Of course both in 2010 and now I asked for and received ARC approval to proceed. Also, they painted the guttering so it looks new now.

+ -1 moreThe project with Certa Pro was Bad...We had to hire new painters to fix all of what Certa Pro messed up throughout our renovation. Very costly!
Description of Work: Certa pro painters were extremly unprofessional they did a very messy job painting the trim and walls on our master bed and bath remodel they just took it apron themselves to randomly spackeled and painted in areas that were not relevant to the construction job Never did they even ask the homeowners if it was ok to go in these other rooms causing even more of a construction mess and cost!

+ -1 moreWhen I met the PM for CertaPro, I told him the new built-ins needed to be sprayed not rolled on. He ensured me that the roller the painters use is the best. When they were done, I was not happy at all with the finish of the built-ins. The surface is rough and the detailed work is lacking. The painters did a nice job on the walls and molding but they should have listened to me and sprayed on the finish to the new built-ins. I called the PM after the job was complete and he said there is nothing they can do about it now and I was not willing to pay more money to have it sprayed on. I will not use them again due to the poor quality of the built-ins.

+ -1 moreThe owner is very nice and willing to help out if we did have some problem. He was very customer service friendly and willing to rectify the problem, but because we did encounter some problems, I was not too thrilled about that. Overall, they are great and again, they were willing to help and they did rectify the problem. I do not know if I would use them again, but I would not hesitate if somebody else had a better experience. It might not be just them. It was not the crew. It was not the owner. The owner did great and he stepped up.
Description of Work: I think we used CertaPro for interior painting.

+ -1 moreFrom the start Jace was punctual for my estimate appointment, pointed out some items about my walls that I had not noticed before and was provided me with a timely estimate. Once I selected this company again Jace was great about getting my job scheduled and within two weeks of my estimate. The crew that came out were polite, hard working and left my house looking beautiful and clean. I used some pretty dark colors on several walls and I could not be happier with the way it turned out! I will definitely use Jace and his team for future work.

+ 0 moreJace has always been easy to work with. I have hired him previously to stain my deck, and hired him again to paint a majority of the interior of my home. His crew was very friendly, and tried to be as neat as possible. I liked that they removed switch plates instead of painting around - seen too many painters take that shortcut. Work is great quality and painters weren't offended when we pointed out a couple of areas that needed a minor touch-up.

You get a year guarantee and I did use that. It is very rare that you get a guarantee on painting. The price was excellent and fair. They clean up well. They are always on time and ready to work.

+ -1 moreCertaPro exceeded our expectations! We just moved into a 15-year-old home that needed the entire interior painted. We had several painters come in and give us a quote. CertaPro's price was competitive with the other bids, but the owner, Jace, also made note of areas that needed extra prepping before painting so that the end results would be better. We appreciated this attention to detail, as we wanted a painter who would solve problems rather than just cover them up. The job was estimated while the previous owners were still in the home, so once the house was empty, it was obvious that there was additional prepping to do, and CertaPro went above and beyond to do the extra work. We usually do our own painting and home repairs because we are very neat and meticulous, but this was a big job and we needed to hire someone we could trust to do a neat, clean job. Jace's team was very courteous and respectful, and Jace stopped by several times to check the progress and to check in with us. We also had some unforeseen (and unrelated) home repairs to do while they were painting, and they were able to work around us and then come back to finish after we were out of the way. That showed us a lot of respect for our situation and our time. CertaPro did a great job and we are extremely pleased.

Jace does a terrific job of setting expectations. His crew is reliable and they brought the project in on time and as estimated. Jace was always available and frequently on the job site. The transformation is amazing. Our 1979 house looks completely renovated and fresh with (3)current colors. I would highly recommend Jace Gates and his crew.
Description of Work: The entire exterior of the house including trim, brick, cedar shake and chimney. Also stained the pier and floating dock. Some exterior siding and trim needed replacement. The crew from Certa Pro showed up on time, took little if any breaks and always cleaned up before they left. Jace Gates took a lot of time explaining paint and color matching and the importance of lighting. He made the best recommendations for painting all our brick and staining the original hand cut cedar shake. The crew was very respectful and careful and always checked with us before assuming.

+ -1 moreWe wanted a washable paint that was the same color as was already on the walls. We suggested a brand that we were familiar with but we were not familiar with the lines available but we told him it had to be washable. We were told the paint they were going to use was washable, turns out it is not washable. Not only is it not washable but we were told they would be done in one day but they were not and had to come back a second day to fix all of their errors and missed spots. When I called to question the washablity of the paint he just said that the manufacture said it was washable. How do you recommend a product if you don't test it out? Yes the job was inexpensive but I guess you get what you pay for.

There was overspray all along my back porch, and stripes on my screens where they used a sprayer to paint. Overall, not the best experience.

+ -1 moreThe work went very well. Chad was extremely polite, friendly, and helpful, and showed up each day of the job to check things out. He got us an estimate quickly, and we accepted it right away. He actually assisted us by pointing out some additional items that were in need of paint / repair in the house that we hadn't noticed / considered. The house was challenging in that there was a lot of wallpaper to be removed, but the crew did a great job, for a good price. We did have to ask for some touch-ups, but they happily did what we requested. The crew missed a few nails in the wall that were to have been taken out / touched-up - but we didn't consider it to be too big a deal. The house is huge and had many such spots - easy to miss a few. My only other minor complaint was that the crew ran the heat pretty high while they were painting. We had to come in and turn it down twice. Overall - a great job, and we will be using them again when we complete the remaining rooms they didn't paint this time around. They were a joy to work with.

You can find cheaper quotes on interior and exterior painting, but CertaPro was flexible in meeting other bids. Plus, do you really want to put your house in the hands of the low-bid guys with no insurance or permanent address? CertaPro was professional in all aspects, competitive on price, and willing to stand behind their work. Highest recommendation.
Description of Work: We started a full remodeling of our house last fall. At that time we hired CertaPro to clean-finish the popcorn ceilings, and paint every square inch of every wall, plus paint a lot of new trim in the house. A year later, we hired CertaPro to paint the full exterior of the house, every square inch of soffits, eaves and siding.

Description of Work: We had the interior of our house painted which included kitchen, dining room, great room, 3 bedrooms and office and the baseboards in 3 bathrooms. We chose 5 different colors. I have 9' ceilings and the great room and stair case is 2 stories high. Cracks and nail holes were filled and sanded. They moved all furniture and replaced them when the job was finished. There was no mess.
