The crew was fabulous. They worked diligently for the two hours and completed all work. I paid a small amount extra to haul away brush over the deal limit and that was very fair. I am going to have them come back for some landscaping work- a rock garden and I know I will use them again.

It went really well. They got us into the schedule very quickly, were easy to talk to and schedule, and did a great job on the front yard. We're planning to have them come back and do the back yard next.

Yard was sloped about 3 feet over a width of approx. 20 feet x 70 feet long. We had another landscaper lined up to do the work but bail on us last minute. We were in a jam as we were having other work to be started when this project was finished. We were lucky to have Jona and Omar Landscaping recommended to us. This was not a small job. Jose explained the difficulties of the job and what issues we might encounter. Jose had to bring the dirt from the front of the house to the back via a bobcat. They started on Friday by removing the current sod and placing it for re-installation later. They worked half a day Friday, all day Saturday and most of Sunday until the rains came. The weather did not cooperate as it rained hard for 2 days and they were not able to continue until the ground dried, which was not until Friday. They got started early Friday, worked late, came back Saturday and Sunday and finished in the rain. We enjoyed working with Jose. He was very professional and cared about the project. The rain really caused havoc with the project and any delays on his part would have been a disaster but he was always there when he said he would be. The yard was completely transformed as it is now a very usable space for entertaining and activities. The crapes he planted were very nice. All the plantings are doing very well and survived the recent 100 degree heat. On a side note, I was surprised to find a bad review on Angie's List for Jona and Omar Landscaping as our experience was quite the opposite. 7 months after the work was done all plantings have survived.

Quite honestly, I don't think it could have gone better...We had several well-reviewed companies come out to quote us for improving the drainage problems in our yard. I think our house was built on a mound of clay. To make matters worse, we are near the bottom of a hill in our neighborhood. Almost every time it rains, we'll have standing water in the back corner of the yard. It seems like the ground doesn't want to absorb any of it. My "environmentally friendly" wife decided it would be a good idea to place a rain barrel out front instead of the visible drain coming from the downspout behind the bushes that would wash mulch across the sidewalk. It would "save water" so she could water the flowers. I obliged and installed a 70 gallon rain barrel. As the first rain came down, I realized what a terrible mistake I made. It was hysterical. After 5 minutes of rain, the barrel was completely full and the overflow was basically flooding the foundation. Needless to say, this wasn't a sustainable solution for drain management, but I digress... The quotes from companies were really all over the place. The only reason I initially called Jona and Omar was b/c my neighbor uses them for his yard service, and they really do a great job (I like to cut my own grass). Jose, the owner, was quick to quote us. We were also interested in increasing the postage-stamp size patio that the builder had put in so we would have a more functional space. He designed an aesthetically pleasing curved patio that more than doubled the existing patio size (I think the addition was ~15' x 20'). For the drainage issues, they hand dug (read: no heavy machinery all over my yard) trenches and placed solid pipe drains from 7 downspouts and connected them to bring them off the back of the property (370 feet of pipe). Additionally, he carried one of the pipes under our existing patio to connect it with another pipe and bring it around to the back yard. The drain work took 3-4 days to complete. Then he started work on the patio. It was graded perfectly. Jose really did a great job with the aesthetic as he put the curved addition in place. The patio took an additional 4 days. It was really hot the whole time they were working at our home, but they never complained and worked from sun up to sun down. Jose was there working with his crew the whole time. When he finished, we weren't crazy about the stone step he had put in coming off the patio. It didn't look bad. The patio just looked so good that the step didn't match. My wife talked with him about it, and he promised to come out an do something different when he was between jobs. Well, he just recently finished re-doing the steps, and they look perfect! We are so pleased with the work he has done. He deserves better reviews than the few he has on this site. I think the one potential downside is that his name has been passed around a lot by folks in our neighborhood and he is getting much busier. Believe me, he is worth the wait and performs great work at a very fair price. Additionally, if you're not happy, he'll make it right.

The provider did excellent work. The yard looked better than it ever had. The workers were fast and efficient. This feeling of satisfaction did not last. We hired them to do a one-time service while we were unable to mow the lawn ourselves. Weeks of heavy rain had caused it to grow out of control and the provider really did a great job getting it back into shape. They did such a great job we hired them to do regular mowing. Then they didn't show up for a second appointment, we assume due to rain, but we were not notified. Then, when we called to ask when they would show up again, they arrived immediately. This second visit proved problematic. While mowing, one of the workers drove a riding mower along the street to get from one side of the yard to the other. In doing so, he must have driven over a rock, which got sucked up and thrown out of the mower across the street hitting my neighbor's vehicle. I opened the garage door to leave the house to find the police in my driveway, interviewing my neighbor and the mowers. My neighbor had heard the sound of the rock hitting his vehicle. he talked to the mowers about it and the mowers claimed they had no insurance and that they hadn't done anything wrong. That's when he called the cops. As an Angie's member, I realized I should have checked these guys out before hiring them, but didn't. We called the service afterward to verify their lack of insurance and follow up on the incident. They failed to respond for almost a week. When we finally reached them, a man answered who said we'd have to "talk to his wife." The wife soon called back and angrily accused us of "calling her husband." We'd called the number on their business card, which is the same as the number on their website. She informed us they did not have insurance but that "no one else had complained." She then offered to insure their services "just for us" but that it would cost $10 extra. At this point we realized we'd made a terrible mistake hiring an unprofessional provider and informed them we would no longer require their services. The neighbor is taking this provider to small claims court.
