I contacted Sutherland Exteriors because of a sign in a neighbor's yard. Jeremy Sutherland came and was very personable and professional. He explained the process thoroughly and was there to ensure my insurance company saw all of the damage to my roof. He was patient with me as I tried to decide if i was going to go through with this project. He made me feel as if he really wanted to do business with me. He did regular follow-ups, but was not over-bearing. Before, I made a decision to go forward with the project, Jermey was temporarily assigned to another territory. I was contacted by Ramos, to see if I was ready to move forward. We scheduled an appointment. Ramos was honest, friendly and knowledgeable. While I never felt pressured, he, too, made me feel as if my business was important to the company. I asked and he explained how he became a part of the Sutherland Business Family, he was once a customer. He made the owner (Jeremy's cousin) sound like a very fair and decent guy. Both Jeremy and Ramos made me feel as if I had a "friend" in the business. I trusted them completely. They were fun to work with, but still displayed a very professional, business persona. Then came John. He was in charge of the crew, who actually installed the roof. When I came home from work, John approached me and introduced himself and gave me an "accurate" update of what was going on and how long it should take. After the job, they cleaned up everything and other than having a nice, new roof, they left no sign that they were ever present. John and his crew very good and I have received compliments on my new roof (and painted dormers)Additionally, John was kind enough to bring his ladder in my house and change my light bulb. What a nice guy! I would highly recommend Sutherland Exteriors to anyone. Sincerely, MGC

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! We thought all went well until we discovered a leak. Then we realized that their warranty is only for ONE YEAR!!!!!! So, we called other contractors to look at the mess and they determined that the work done was shoddy. Sutherland Exteriors used the original flashing and did not replace it with new flashing so that was falling apart. We had to hire another company to repair the roof where it was leaking. We did not want Sutherlands Exteriors to fix it since the warranty expired anyway. On hindsight, we made a mistake hiring Sutherland's Exteriors when they informed us that we had hail damage and were "fixing" roofs in the neighborhood. We should have done more research. Do not believe that the typical warranty on a roof is only one year. We were told that you can get a 10-year warranty on a new installation. Hold out for a company that will back up their work and do no trust any company that does not. On that note, Sutherland's Exteriors is more than welcome to chime in to their defense and explain to us WHY they only offer a one-year warranty on new roof installations and they do not back up their work.

They were very timely in coming to give an estimate. The agent took a long time to examine the roof and siding. When he came back to give the estimate the agent was very through in explaining every thing that need be done. They also fixed a dryer vent, that was damaged, at our request. This was not part of the original estimate. They called to let us know that due to weather they had to change the work date. They arrived when they said they would. They worked very fast and cleaned up all the debris including all nails and even the two satellite dishes and all the wires that were connected. They repaired all the damaged siding and even repaired the siding that had holes left from removing the satellite wires. I highly recommend them, as they lived up to what was stated when giving the estimate and were very professional. While working on my townhouse they noticed a problem with my neighbors siding and offered to fix it for her and she agreed to have the work done.

It went very smooth. I was nervous but after researching the company and talking to our insurance company we decided to go forward with the project. Sutherland came out for the forth time to sit down and discuss our siding options. After they left I again researched the siding the they were going to use and felt comfortable that it was quality siding. My husband and I agreed to upgrade the siding in the gables to give our house some contrast. The Sutherland employee was very good at letting us know what looked good and what was typically done with siding. He gave us all the samples and told us to call once we reached a conclusion. After we decided upon the colors we call and they started work a few weeks later (only due to the holiday's). They came out on a Thursday evening and pretty much finished up by Friday evening. There was one area that they hung the wrong siding and they came out Saturday to fix it with no problem. After they left, a few days later my husband found another small area around the vent where he didn't like the way the J channel looked so we called and they came out again to fix it. They have been very easy to deal with.

It turns out that the rep accidentally underquoted us, which did delay the start date by a couple weeks, but the company ended up absorbing the costs and doing the work (I frequently touched base with them and they were quickly responsive to update me on the status of the project start). The work crew was entirely Hispanic; they were polite and punctual and worked until sunset the first day, returning a second partial day to finish. They were fairly careful with our foundation plantings- just some minor damage to a couple shrubs and some perennials got trampled, but being the end of the growing season, it wasn't a big deal. They did a good job of cleaning up, too; we only found a handful of nails around the house afterwards. Three of our window screens got torn, and someone came out within 2 days to replace them. The roof was installed one week before Superstorm Sandy hit, and even though we were on the outskirts of it and didn't get a lot of high winds, it rained for a week and we got several inches of rain- with no roof leaks!

Sutherland Exterior gave us an estimate, worked with our insurance company, assisted us with multiple shingle selections, styles and colors and followed up with a visit after the work was completed. Overall, we had a very positive experience with Sutherland Exteriors and would recommend their services. The entire staff were prompt, courteous and professional during the entire process of replacing our roof.

Sutherland’s roofing services delivered a very high quality service in a timely manner as promised. I was very pleased with my experience and would recommend Sutherland Exteriors to others seeking a quality roofing company. I was very cautious because of the poor reputation that many roofing companies have in the market and based on a recent negative experience of one of my neighbors with another roofing company. I preformed extensive research to ensure that I did not have a negative experience and learned that Sutherland has a very good reputation. Sutherland’s process was very complete and professional from the initial assessment of my roof damage, through the actual roof repair and ended with a very extensive quality control process after the roof work was complete. They even pointed out some minor damage to the sliding on my house that I did not notice that occurred during the roof replacement stage. They repaired it very quickly and never asked for final payment until all services were completed to my total satisfaction. They also did not require me to pay a deposit until the roof supplies were delivered to my house which greatly improved my comfort level. Excellent experience!

It went very well. Their initial contact was very good and then the team that they sent out to take the old roof off and put the new one on, they were very good; they were here on time and they met their estimated time frame and cost.

They handled all issues with the insurance company for me and everything went very smoothly. The work was done on time and the quality was very high.

Make sure your comfortable with the vendor. Make the vendor work with your insurance company and push for all services required.

Very well! Everything went just as Sutherland's explained it would. There were no surprises. Sutherland's, upon my request, also supplied written copies of their insurance coverage which I confirmed with a telephone call to their insurance companies.

I spent about $4000 on the job. They totally replaced the roof and installed architectural shingles. They were very good, quick, and very reasonable. They installed the roof within a day. They did not even take the whole day. They were awesome. They had a whole crew doing the job. They took care of me and my insurance policy. I was very satisfied with their work. I will use them again in the future.
