Pelican Pools and Design

I had an incredible experience with Pelican Pools and Design. I worked with Michael Basnett, and he was professional, efficient, and delivered a stunning pool that exceeded my expectations. From design to completion, they provided exceptional service and craftsmanship. I highly recommend them for any pool construction project.

Jonathan Basnett operated under Pelican Pools more than 10 years ago. He stiffed so many people and had to shut down his business. He stole $32,780 from me and only gave me a design and never built my pool. He actually used my money to finish my neighbors pool as he was running low on funds. He and his wife wrote me that they would return my money (they returned $4,000 of the $36,870) and never returned the rest. He laid low for some time working for a few different pool companies. He has now resurfaced. Please do not use him as he is not a good business person.

do upgrade to pebble tec pebble sheen. Looks awesome. Do add water features, do get elevated spa. Do get large tanning ledge, with umbrella holder- great for kids and adults. Pay attn to details and make sure all permits and inspections are done at end of job.

Per our contract we retained 10% as the final payment until we had complete turnover of the pool. Workers did not show up on sunny days. The water feature leaked and was not operational. There were cracks in the freshly poured concrete patio. We withheld final payment based on defective work and lack of operation of the pool as we were entitled to under our contract. We provided Mr. Basnett with an ongoing punch list of outstanding work and repairs that needed to be performed prior to final payment. We were fully prepared to make the final payment, but were extremely concerned with the lack of work, defected work and Mr. Basnett's refusal to return our numerous calls. While we were at work, Mr. Basnett came through an enclosed fence and stole all of the equipment for the pool. The police were called and a police report has been filed and a lawsuit will be pursued against Pelican Pools and Spas as soon as all expenses and damages are known. At the time the equipment was stolen, Pelican Pools had been paid over $50,000.00.
