last contact was supposed to be If I had not pre-paid a special I would have fired him day one. The owner showed up late, stuck in traffic, no phone call, text or e-mail. The owner finally arrived and began work. He seemed very interested in getting paid sooner than later. He misrepresented how the lights would preform, incandescent vs. LED vs. our down lights. Over sold and under preformed. The installation of the spot light, the grey industrial PVC wan't even cemented together. I've personally installed two landscape lighting systems myself, I did a better job. The quality of fixtures didn't match, pathway lights vs. house lights, tree lights. The installation of the new breaker both inside and outside was good. I would have preferred someone who didn't try and "sell us" and advise. His smoking habit was not a problem until he decided to use my yard as an ashtray. I don't know how Ivey Electric ended up at the top of your list, I'll never make the same mistake again. Your recomendations aren't worth the paper written on. Our last contact was supposed to be this past Friday afternoon, he confirmed with my wife...........still haven't seen, heard or smelled him.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal with Ivy Electric on 13-May, 2013. I called Ivy 9 times and e-mailed on four occassions to try to set up the service. The offer was for installation of walkway lights. Only after a scathing review did Mr. Ivy call me and made arrangements to visit. He visited on July 13th, a full two months after my purchase. After spending about 15 minutes surveying the requirements, he stated that he'd get back to me in 24 hours with the details of the installation. He was going to try to match other walkway lights on the property, if possible. I agreed that matching was nice but not a critical element and that if he couldn't match I'd like to proceed to get the work done, or my money back. Now, more than two weeks later, I've heard nothing. Its time for Angie's List to refund my money and make note of Ivy Electric's poor service. Hopefully this will help Angie's list weed out bad providers from their otherwise good Big Deals program.

The had someone out by noon and got started immediately. They told me that I had some major problems, described what was wrong and that it was going to take time and might be expensive. I got concerned so I got another company to come out and give me another opinion. The second company did an examination but not seem to know exactly what was causing my problem and told me that it was going to take significant time and money to find out exactly was the root of my problem. Since Ivy seemed to know what the two causes of the problem could be, so I went with them. It turned out that I had some major problems that they were able to fix. They did a great job, worked hard and cleaned up after themselves. They even called a week later to see how things were going and if there were any lingering problems. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: The power went out in my house at 5 AM on a Monday morning. I pulled up Angie's list and got the phone numbers to seven local vendors and called them all. By noon I had spoken to most of them. Ivy gave me great advice over the phone and promised they would have someone out by noon. They were not the cheapest but I felt comfortable with what they explained what could be the problem and what it would cost to fix.

Awful. Still waiting for a response from Ivy to perform the work. Something is awry if Angie's List is promoting this vendor. I'd just like to get what I paid for.
Description of Work: Purchased the Angie's List special deal for landscape lighting. I've placed 7 calls to Ivy and never had a single call returned. Vendor is completely unresponsive. Buyer beware. I'd make this guy a "COD" account and only pay once work is performed and verified.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. He was very responsive to emails and phone calls. He was willing to work with me. He thought he would charge extra for going under a sidewalk but he ended up not charging extra. There was something wrong with the transformer and he responded quickly to fix it. He gave a little bit of a discount for paying with cash.

Ian was ultra-responsive. We had just missed an Angie's List deal but he was nice enough to agree to the offer even though we missed the original offer. We had 4 lights put in the front of the house and 2 along our pathway. Ian explained how each light was positioned and where the wire was placed. He was very good about minimizing the wire exposure to make for a more clean clean look. All around a very good, quick experience with no issues at all. Quality lights were installed for a remarkably reasonable price.
Description of Work: Installed 6 outdoor lights across the front of the house and the lighting box on the side of the house.

I hired Ian and Ivy electric to install additional outlets in my garage and install security cameras that I purchased on line. I kept tripping breakers every time I tried plugging things into my garage outlets. Ian explained to me that it was because I had a extra refrigerator plugged into that circuit, so he ran a circuit dedicated to the refrigerator in my garage. Since we added the extra outlet I haven't had any problems since. I also contacted several other big name electrical company's I found on Angies List to install some security cameras I purchased on line. None of the other company's I contact could figure out how to install the cameras at my house. When I met Ian he told me it was easy to do, he would just have to be creative. Ian creatively tied my cameras into exterior/interior outlets and added a few additional outlets to make this work. He came the day and time he said he would and he even gave me a discount because he said it was easier than he thought it would be. I've already recommended Ivy Electric to all my friends, family, and neighbors and will be using them again in the near future.

We had electrical work done by Ian a few weeks before, and his work was excellent. In discussions with him, he also said he did some construction work, and we asked him about our issues with our doors. He said he was available to do the job. He gave us a quote which was under the other quotes that we had received, and we selected Ian. He did a great job. We are looking forward to working with him in the near future on a project we discussed while he was here.

I was very happy with the repairs and my tenants were impressed with my ability to get these things taken care of quickly. Ivy Electric provides solid estimates, timely emergency repairs and I have even used them on a whole house rewiring job. Add to that the force multiplier of incredibly upbeat and respectful service, on-time service calls and holding to their estimates even when correcting things I may have had to call someone else in on....well, it is invaluable to me to find someone with such an incredible 'get the job done' attitude. Ian has won my service...I suggest giving Ivy a chance on your job.
Description of Work: I called Ivy Electric to repair several punch list items I had wrong at rental properties I own in Charlotte. Ian showed up on time and after we ran through the items I needed repaired, he went straight to work. The home was built in 1928 so the electrical on the original circuits were difficult to diagnose. I had also had some electrical rewired to accommodate new appliances. Ian found and repaired all items on my punch list and even went so far as to look up an error code on the dishwasher and fixed that as well (this was an oversight by my plumber).

Found Ian's previous company on Angie's list and dealt exclusively with Ian on my job. He spent a good deal of time on putting together a detailed estimate which I acccepted and he stuck to. All of the work was performed in a timely, professional manner and his helpers cleaned up when they left...atypical of professional services these days but very much appreciated. The home was built in 1928. Ian worked within my scheduling boundaries to troubleshoot some issues I had in the smalll amount of original wiring left at the home. Overalll, a great experience.
Description of Work: Complete upfit on a duplex in Dilworth. Wiring was on a 1928 building and pretty much everything was removed and replaced to bring it up to code and beyond. Two 200amp panels installled, HVAC hookups, HW, GFI outlets wired and hooked up in kitchen/baths, MW, Fridge...attic and basement lights. The price was fair for the work performed. The real value came in in the little extras Ian added at no charge to make my life easier on the property that I didn't think to add into the original contract as well as finishing the roughs and finish work on my timeline and not drawing out the job nor the expenses. These things helped me enormously. Ian is a highly motivated, smart guy who knows the electrical business inside and out. Highly recommended and I will certainly use him for ongoing maintenance work at my properties.
