Made an appt a week in advance for an afternoon time slot. Took off work early to be home for it. They gave me a 2 hour window in which work would be performed. On the day that it was scheduled, I received a call about 2 hours before the scheduled time slot, which I missed because I was still at work. No message was left, but I called back the number thinking it was likely the electrician. No answer. I also called the office that I had called to make the appt before. No answer. After I get home, I waited throughout the 2 hour window that was scheduled. I called the number I missed earlier back with 20 minutes left in the 2 hour window that was scheduled, and this time the electrician answered. He stated that he called twice (lie - called once) and it wouldn't let him leave a message so they went to do another job. Since I was still in the 2 hour window, I asked why they couldn't come now. He said they ended up going to a kid's soccer game. I am amazed at how unprofessional this company was. I wasted several hours of work to be home for these people and they didn't even bother to show up. For future reference to your business, if you are going to cancel service calls based on people not answering their phones: 1) Make sure you call at least call the customer 1 day in advance to confirm an appt, don't decide to cancel the job a couple hours beforehand. 2) If you can't get signal on your cell phone or your phone is malfunctioning, have your office call the customer. 3) If a customer calls back, still waiting within the scheduled window, go do the job that was promised.

I decided that I wanted a standby electric generator for my house. Not knowing anything about generators, I began looking for advice on exactly what I should purchase. After talking to several electrical contractors, Tri-City was obviously the most knowledgeable on the subject. Chad (of Tri-City) helped me choose the right generator for my situation, with no promise that I would use him to do the installation. He and his brother Jason came by here to look at my situation and didn't try to get me to commit to anything or try the old trick of "We'll knock off the charge for the estimate when we do the installation". After I had chosen a generator and had it delivered, (I got it from electricgeneratorsdirect.com), Chad and Jason came out here and built a wood-framed gravel pad, made sure it was level and attractive, then moved the generator from my garage and placed it on the pad and did all the connections that were possible before the gas company came to perform some necessary modifications. After the gas was hooked up, they returned and completed the installation. Not only did they do an outstanding job, they stayed around for a couple hours testing it to make sure it was working properly. I no longer have to think about who I will call when I need anything electrical done! These guys are head and shoulders above any other electrical contractor I was able to find!

We called Tri-City to fix an attic vent fan. We were told someone would be there early the next morning, but they would call back to confirm the time. My wife took off work the next morning and waited for the electrician. The electrician did not call or show up by 8:30, so she called Tri-City, but her calls were not returned. She called another company, made an appointment for later that morning, then called Tri-City and left a message to cancel that appointment.

This was not the case 2 messages left on home & cell. At the time of the appointment being made, we tried to work them that day. The member was told if they could not make that day, the company would be out the time that was quoted to them for the next time. Before going home that day a call was made to them on voice that we would be there next morning as schedule. If customers do not answer phones or check answering manchines that is not our fault. Customers can not expect any company to waste gas to come & no one home & that does happen. So before any customers makes an appointment with any time of repair or doctors be sure you talk to someone in person to cancell, keep phones on, & make sure the person can be home all day to take service call anything can happen. When I personal make a appointment I always call to see if the time has changed & let them know to call my cell & make sure I am where I hear & can answer. Tri-City Electric has always called customer even if the electricion said they could get hold, the person in the office always calls. If I am remembering correctly I tried all morning to get a hold of this customer.

The purchase process took several months as I took the opportunity to educate myself about the current technologies. Tri-City, via Synergy in Ballantyne, was extremely helpful and provided a no-pressure experience. I spoke to several vendors and received quotes from five. All of the quotes were higher than my final cost. The installation process was not painless as there were some issues with equipment failure. However, the vendor did their level best to minimize the impact upon me and made everything right without complaint.

The breaker box is outside. Water got into it and caused it to malfunction. He fixed it and replaced the breaker switch. He told me that whoever installed it did not caulk it correctly. He did not have the caulk with him and did not want me to have to pay another service fee for them to come back out. He had someone else just stop by when they were in the area and do it free of charge.

Our experience with Tri-City Electric was just fine. The electrician performed his job very well and offered us alternative ways in which we could fix the lighting. He had come out the next day after we had called them. He knew what he was doing and was quick too.

Scheduling was a breeze-I called about two weeks ahead, but it appears they could have helped me sooner(if only my schedule would have allowed). Scott called the morning of the appointment to confirm and give me his ETA(he was traveling from SC to Charlotte). Scott was very friendly and professional. His work was excellent and I feel much safer with the new smoke detectors in my home. He answered a number of questions I had about the installation process for the chandelier and the smoke detectors. He didn't charge me for installing the new doorbell button/cover and gave me a discount for buying and installing four smoke detectors. Tri City guarantees all their work for one year. Overall, I was very pleased with the entire experience.

I have never posted a negative rating on a company until now. I called Tri-City because of the great reviews. I called and they were able to come give an estimate within hours of my call. We needed four can lights put in and to remove the ceiling fan and cap it. The estimate was $1200 for four recessed lights! When I called for the appointment I had asked if she had an idea of the cost before he came out. She said she did not. When I asked the guy who came out, he said the cost is standard $298 per can if there is no access from above, about $239 if there was access. She could have told us this over the phone instead of wasting our time. We called someone else who is putting in the lights for $400 including materials.

FIRST OF ALL WE WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING OR CONFUSION. HOWEVER, NO MONEY WAS EXCHANGED. THIS WAS A FREE ESTIMATE. OUR DISPATCHERS DO NOT GIVE PRICES OVER THE PHONE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO ELECTRICAL EXPERIENCE OR BACKGROUND, AND EVERY JOB IS DIFFERENT. THEIR JOB IS TO BOOK APPOINTMENTS AND WORK WITH EACH CUSTOMER AND TECHNICIAN TO MAKE THE SCHEDULING AN EASY PROCESS. WE ARE A LICENSED, INSURED, BONDED, PROFESSIONAL COMPANY WITH PROFESSIONAL HIGHLY TRAINED TECHNICIANS. WE ALSO WARRANTY ALL OF OUR WORK. THE PERSON HIRED FOR $400.00 COULD BE A FRIEND, HANDYMAN, OR NON LICENSED PERSON WITH NO OVERHEAD OR BUSINESS EXPENSES. THE TECHNICIAN WHO WENT OUT ON THIS CALL WAS CHRIS HAWKS. HE HAS BEEN AN EMPLOYEE OF TRI CITY FOR APPROX. 5 YEARS NOW WITH VERY FEW COMPLAINTS. TRI CITY IS A REFERRAL BASED COMPANY. MORE THAN 40% OF OUR CUSTOMERS COME FROM REFERRALS AND MANY MORE ARE REPEAT CUSTOMERS. TRI CITY TRIES VERY HARD TO BE A CUSTOMER ORIENTED BUSINESS. WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR BUSINESS, THEIR REFERRALS, AND GOOD REPORTS. JASON DILLARD OWNER

After setting an appt, they gave the typical 'window' of time. I waiting the entire time at my house, no one showed up, so I left. About a half hour later, I received a call from the main office, saying that tech had been to my house and had tried to call me, but I wasn't there and didn't answer. I received no call, and no one was at my house during the time given.

WE DO APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE WE CAUSED YOU. HOWEVER, 99% OF THE TIME WE ARRIVE WITHIN OUR 2 HR. SCHEDULED TIME BLOCK. THIS PARTICULAR DAY THE TECHNICIAN THAT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE APPOINTMENT HAD AN EMERGENCY JOB WITH AN ELDERLY COUPLE THAT HAD BURNING DAMAGE IN THEIR ELECTRICAL PANEL. AGAIN, WE APOLOGIZE.

2 electricians, Steve and Travis, arrived promptly, discussed the work I requested, offered suggestions, then provided a written estimate. They took accurate measurements of the new location for the interior ceiling fan before getting parts from the electrical supply store (A-frame ceiling with little clearance for blades). They returned in less than half an hour and installed everything exactly as I asked. The job turned out better than I hoped. Very satisfied. Steve recommended installing arc fault circuit breakers in the circuit panel box, a new code requirement for 2008. He suggested I research on the internet for more detailed info if I thought I might be interested. He also provided detailed info on a whole-house surge protector when I asked about it. Both Steve and Travis seemed very knowledgeable and thorough. They were both very friendly and professional. Also, I called this company on fairly short notice and was surprised they were able to send someone out so quickly. Seems they have a large enough staff to get the work done when you need it. I've put these guys at the top of my list for electrical work. Ask for Steve and Travis.

Absolutely excellent in every single way. Way exceeded my expectations.
Description of Work: Re-wired, and correctly hung a 100 pound chandelier in my foyer. Also made sure all light bulbs were installed and working and even placed 18 dangling teardrops on each arm of the chandelier and asked me to go outside to verify the placement of chandelier in foyer window. Carried out a 16 ft ladder I had rented from another company for them to pick up. Check fuse box, verified all was good, gave advise on how to properly hang a chandelier, and how to stop breakers from tripping when using the vacuum cleaner.

Very well. The electrician arrived promptly, assessed the job, and completed it in a short period of time. I have graded down a bit on price simply because the job took very little time and because I had already purchased the kit and wiring needed for the job, so all I paid for was labor and "know-how."

I scheduled an afternoon for the work to be done. Unfortunately, they did not arrive on time and later informed me that they would not be available that day at all. Had to schedule for 4 days later. This was not good. However, once Shawn came, he was great. He was knowledgeable, cleaned up his work areas well, speedy, and fair. The company did not charge their regular $59 fee for showing up as a result of the original time problem.
Description of Work: Shawn put a new electrical box under the sink so that the disposal would work. He took out a very old overhead fixture and installed a ceiling fan. He fixed some sockets in other overhead lights so that the bulbs will work.

I called this morning, and they were here within the time window they promised. I didn't get the promised call 20 minutes ahead of time, so the electrician had to wait until I could drive over to the house from work. He was pleasant and professional, and completed the job quickly and successfully. My only complaint is the $5 "truck charge" they tacked on to the bill. Seems like they could have told about me that up front.

This was a job that we had to get done right away. We found this company from a friend referring them to us. We called them and we set it up for them to have someone come out and do the work. We were real happy with the price as we thought it was going to be more than it was. The guy who did the work showed up and went right to work. He wasted no time. After the job was done, we talked to him for a little bit and he was quite friendly. He was able to answer all of our questions and said if we ever had any problems to call him right away and he would come right out to take care of the problem.
