We recently bought a house with an old, very intimidating garland commercial range in the kitchen. I had mike over to give it a checkup. He was amazing! He was able to do some research and tell me all about the stove, find out whether the parts were still available, and test all the components. He discovered that the gas pressure was low by 25%, and was able to adjust it and get everything working properly. I'd highly recommend him!
Description of Work: Did a checkup and tune up on my commercial stove.

When a group from the Missions Team at Highland United Methodist Church volunteered in January at the Helen Wright Women's Center, only 3 of the 6 burners on their commercial stove were working, and most of the coils didn't sit level. Since the stove was in much the same condition in the previous year, we inquired about getting it fixed. The director of Urban Ministries' Crisis Center said that the estimate for a replacement stove was $6000, and that repairs to the stove a few years previously had been very expensive. I searched the web for someone who does commercial kitchen equipment repairs, and found the highly recommended Chef's Friend. The owner, Mike Plumlee, was extremely helpful, and offered to help me find out if the parts were even available. He talked me through finding the model and serial number, called the manufacturer, and gave me the cost of the parts that might need to be replaced. He also cautioned me that if the wiring were in bad condition, it might be better to replace the old Garland 1988. On his first visit, he diagnosed several problems with the stove, but thankfully the wiring was in good shape. By the end of his visit, he had 5 of the 6 burners working, and all were now level. After the replacement parts arrived for the necessary repairs, he came again, not charging a second trip charge. Now all the burners are working! Mike anticipates that there are many more years of service in the stove. His labor charge and trip charge are very reasonable, and significantly less than other companies. He was very generous with his time and extensive experience in several phone consultations. He was very prompt in getting information and providing it to us. He also made an effort to keep charges to a minimum. It was a pleasure to work with Mike, and I recommend him to you.
Description of Work: Mike Plumlee, owner of Chef's Friend, repaired the commercial stove at the Helen Wright Women's Center, a shelter run by Urban Ministries. He diagnosed why 3 of the 6 burners weren't working, ordered the necessary replacement parts, and returned to complete repairs. He had to replace one element, a fuse holder, several terminals, and two blown fuses. He also corrected problems that prevented the electric coils from sitting level.
