Holland's Hardscapes

It was a wonderful experience. Holland was Professional and Responsive. The crew on site were great and always left the area clean. Would definitely hire again and refer to others!

I have been implementing a detailed landscape plan at my home for some time now, doing a little bit at a time. Much of the work I do myself, but for issues like hardscape, I know the limits of my ability and call the experts! I used Angie's List to have this job estimated, and selected Holland's Hardscapes for the work. Steven Holland (owner) was always polite and punctual when setting up the initial consult and estimate. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, but was not sure if I should go with pavers, loose stone, or some other material. Steven provided great guidance to help me select the right approach that would co-exist with the rest of my landscape. Having finalized an approach, Steven directed me to SiteOne to review stone choices and make final color selection, then we scheduled the work. There was a little bit of fluidity in the schedule to accommodate weather but that was not a problem for me. Steven had a general idea on when they work would start and eventually, the day arrived. Around 0830 that morning, a driver showed up to deliver a small amt of crush and run and granite fines (used on building the base for the pavers) and then Steven and the crew showed up right around the time that SiteOne arrived with the pallets of pavers. The crew doing the install was led by Alejandro and his two brothers. They were very polite and were attentive to any concerns or questions that I had regarding the work. It was clear that Alejandro took pride in the work of the crew. It also became clear just what a big job it is to install a paver path like this one. Three guys for about 7 hours the first day, then two guys for about 6 hours the second day, then back to 3 guys the third day for another 8 hours or so. Finally a person arrived on day 4 to clean up any remaining site material and leftovers. For my job, they cleared the foundation by hand, then added the crush and run and granite fines, then compacted everything. Next the pavers were placed (lots of cutting and trimming for the curves in the path) and everything is outlined with a plastic edge rail and finished off with polymeric sand. Alejandro was careful to ask if I was happy with the layout and curve radius before continuing and I appreciated this. He also made sure that the job site was straightened up at the end of each day to a reasonable extent. Despite it being pretty hot, the crew worked hard all day. I was impressed by their effort, and the end result is exactly what I was looking for! I would not hesitate to hire Holland's Hardscape for future projects as needed. Steven and crew were exceptional. I got everything done, promptly and efficiently. Even when I asked for something additional, it was done without problem and without delay.

Excellent to deal with and overall very happy we chose them. Amazing communications hands down; we always knew what was going on and answers came quickly if we had any questions. Was a great mix of listening to what we wanted and providing suggestions. They actually performed the work even earlier than expected which was a nice surprise. The Holland’s have a local family owned business that I believe in supporting. Communication was prompt and professional. They were friendly and completed the work as agreed. I got 5 or 6 quotes for the same project. Holland’s offered the second lowest price but I went with them because of the professionalism and their willingness to work with my schedule and give me exactly what I wanted.

I served the citizens of Cary for 24 years as a Captain before retiring. In this role, with the police department, I am fully aware of the amount of fraud and poor workmanship that often leads to a civil case and/or tremendous stress in doing a home improvement project. There is no worry that Holland's Hardscape will put you in such a position. Rest assured that they will work on our project just as it was for their home. Anytime I had a question they were quick to answer the question with either an email or phone call. The work was completed within their estimated time frame with outstanding professionalism and skill set. Please give Steven a call, he will not disappoint you.

From the start, everything went great. Communication was punctual. All of the meetings happened exactly when they were planned and the crew probably could not have worked any faster than they did. During our first meeting, Steven even explained the pros and cons of stamped concrete (our original intent) versus pavers and changed our minds. We were actually surprised that they were able to start as soon as they were and Steven was very accommodating when we asked for a last minute change in the design (after contract was signed even). We would hire this company again without hesitation.

The results were great. The owner came and provided me with suggestions and followed up with a written estimate, The day the job began, the owner arrived before the crew and we discussed the job once again. After the crew arrived, the owner, crew lead, and myself discussed the work needed. At the end of the first day, the owner again visited the job site to see the progress and discuss the work with me. The crew arrived and finished the job on the second day. Again, the owner visited the job site to ensure that the job was completed to my satisfaction. The crew was excellent and took care to ensure everything was cleaned at the end of each day and the job. They also took care as to clean any concrete that may have splattered during the pour.

These folks were a delight from customer service, scheduling and installation. They go overboard to make certain you are getting what you want. They installed a winding pathway of pavers starting from scratch—dirt.

Steven Holland does an excellent job by providing recommendations, coordinating activity and ensuring effective customer – contractor communications. The various crews that Holland utilizes are exceptional. Crew members are very congenial and take a great deal of pride in their work. Based on recommendations, my wife made a few modifications during the construction process which Holland easily accommodated. We are very pleased with the quality of the extensive work performed and we would definitively recommend Holland Hardscapes.

The design was perfect. It looks like it has been a part of the property and house for years which is what we wanted. The weather was a factor but the teams worked late and on weekends to make up lost time (who knew we would get 8 inches of snow halfway through the project). Everyone was courteous. Communications were smooth after we overcame an issue with wrong email address noted for our file.

My experience with Holland's Hardscapes was great from start to finish! Shannon and Steven were consistently responsive to my needs, concerns, and questions. Steven came up with a great design that fits my family's needs perfectly. Everyone who came to work on the project was professional and courteous, and the finished hardscaping looks spectacular!

The project exceeded my expectations. Steven and Shannon made the process very easy. After meeting with Steven, several quotes were presented to me in a timely manner. I discussed the best fit for my project and even had adjustments made that did not delay the install. The patio was installed within approximately two weeks of my first contact with the company. The installers provided my family with a quality product and I will not hesitate to use Holland Hardscapes for my future projects.

They worked with our schedule and worked closely with us throughout the process. Steven helped with design and color selection. Couldn’t be happier.

The process went very smoothly. Steven came out an took the time to listen to our ideas and offered suggestions that really helped visualize what we might need size wise and what a finished product might look like. He was very responsive to questions and helped us through the difficult decisions like stone color, wall height and shape of fire pit. As the project went on, both he and Shannon were very patient and made sure we had all the information we needed as we made a few changes, The actual project started with a final walk-through and design meeting to be sure we all on the same page. Once the digging started Alejandro and his team were excellent. Very professional and great craftsmen. The job was completed in 4 days and the results were amazing. I can't say enough about how pleased we are with all elements of the process.

I am thrilled with the quality and entire process. Stephen and team were creative and offered a few different design options. The team worked with us during construction on a few minor modifications. I am thrilled with the quality, custom experience, and responsiveness. I cannot say enough good things, including follow up months after construction on a few items unrelated to the project. Save yourself the time and hire these guys!

My family and I are enjoying the patio that was install by Holland's Hardscapes. Very professional and a hardworking team. Shannon that works in the office is AWESOME! I recommend this company to anyone needing hardscape needs. Work that is done correctly and at a reasonable cost.

Steven was very professional when talking to him and told us exactly what we would expect and walked us through the process. Steven came out ahead of time to paint out lines on the grass to show us where the patio boundaries would be and where each item should appear. We had a strict budget and Steven would give us options that would allow us to stay within our budget. I was able to call Steven directly once the project started and would be able to get in touch with him most of the time. He would resolve any issues that we had and did it in a timely manner. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work from start to finish. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that needs hardscape or pavers work done.

For this project, we received quotes from four different companies to install a patio with a firepit and sitting wall, as well as large sections of retaining wall and garden wall for our property. 3 of the 4 companies came back in a similar price range (including Holland's), while the other came in lower. The lower quote came from a company that had zero flexibility with their proposed design, and we therefore eliminated them from contention for the job. Of the remaining 3 quotes, it was obvious that Holland's was going to be the most flexible, the easiest to communicate with, and the best to work with in terms of providing expertise and suggestions for design ideas. And that held true for the whole project. Once we selected them to complete the work, they put us on the schedule for ~3 weeks out. The communication was great in the lead up to the start date, and Steven and Shannon answered several questions for us along the way. They sent us to a Site One supply house to select our stone / rock / pavers, and helped us work our selections and ideas together into a proposed design. Steven stopped by the house a few times to discuss our plan, and just before the project to paint out the proposed outline and to talk through all the remaining details before starting work. They started work 1 day before their predicted start date which was a pleasant surprise, and had the entire patio and all of the foundation for the walls/firepit complete in 3 days (Thurs-Sat). They started capping the walls with flagstone and veneering them with our selected stone the following Monday, and finished up towards the end of the week. Progress was a bit slower those days, but still very steady. The quality of the work was quite phenomenal, as you can see in the photo, and we are very pleased with the result. We did run into one issue, but it was handled very well and resolved to our satisfaction. As it turned out, the wrong color pavers had been ordered for our patio, an issue that we did not notice until they started on the wall (color contrast made the difference stand out a bit more). After we asked a question about the color contrast, Steven revisited his order to discover his mistake, and immediately came forward with the information. His honesty and willingness to admit a mistake are to be commended, especially as those behaviors are not the norm from contractors today. In addition, they immediately came up with a plan to make it right, even if that meant ripping up the patio and re-doing it or offering a credit for the work done. Ultimately we were happy with the result and the look of the patio, and chose to keep it as-is. All things considered, we can't say enough good things about Holland's Hardscapes. Their crews were amazing, the quality of the work was excellent, and the end result is fantastic. Their honesty, flexibility, and commitment to making right on their mistake shows what type of people Shannon and Steven are. Thanks for the amazing new outdoor space!

Steven and team did an awesome job. He was always on time and his crew especially Alejandra did an great job. They were very flexible, attentive and overall did a quality job. I would highly recommend Holland Hardscapes for your landscaping and patio needs!
