A couple of weeks ago my wife suggested we look into some additional pull out shelves under our kitchen cabinets. We had some from the original builder but realized we still had a lot of unused space and could do better. I researched a number of companies and found ShelfGenie rated quite highly here on Angie's List. While reading the reviews, which were all quite good, I was struck by how many people commented about the high quality and the high prices. Researching further I found ezeGlide a local company here in Raleigh. I called Patrick the owner and scheduled an estimate. When he came out to take a look I was pleasantly surprised by some of his recommendations. The best thing he suggested was to remove the stiles on the double door cabinets and install two full sized shelves rather than four smaller shelves. The stile piece would be cut top and bottom then attached to one of the existing doors. When finished he promised me we could not tell the difference from the original. He was right. The finished product is much more space efficient and convenient. My product research had confirmed my assumption that a big part of the cost is based on the number, not the size of the drawers. Patrick's suggestion resulted in four fewer drawers, which not only cost me less but added a substantial amount of additional storage space. Mine was not a large job to begin with. He could have estimated the job with four more drawers, I would not have known the difference and he would have had a more profitable job. When I asked him about this he just said that this would be the best way to do the job for us. Very refreshing. Installation took place two weeks after the estimate. Everything went smoothly and took about three hours for the eight drawers in four cabinets. In case you can't tell, I was very pleased with the outcome of this project and highly recommend the company.
