Edgewood Cabinetry

Pete is an artist and a craftsman. His shop is great and he knows what he is doing. I talked with a few references he gave me before hand and both of them gave him a great review. Pete worked with us to make sure the color of the cabinets were just right. Construction took a little longer than we would have liked but that was mostly because of my wifes finicky nature in choosing the color. We asked Pete to re-do the stain sample of the cabinet door a few times and that held up his work. The cabinets fit in the house just exactly as planned and they were desiged exactly as anticipated and as drawn. Pete was able to accmodate our existing wood floors which remained in place and he did not damage the floors during install of the cabinets. The cabinets are all wood construction. All plywood surfaces and wood frames. The finish was a light stain with a maple glaze to accent the door reveals etc. Pete is very laid back and relaxed about his work but he performs it in the way a perfectionist does. He is a quiet guy but will answer your questions when he is asked. I wanted a contract written to describe when and how the work would be performed and Pete honored this request. He asked for payment terms of 50% down, 25% after checking the cabinets in his shop, and the remaining 25% after cabinet install. Then after the countertops are installed and all other work is complete he returns to do touch up work. Note, Pete does not do any cabinete removal or demolition. He lets you do this yourself or he has people he works with that he can recommend to do this separately from his services. His services only include design, building and installation of the cabinets. He offers a wide selection of door types and hardware styles too. It is so exciting to see his shop, to see the design and then watch him build the cabinets. It is so great that an American is making something by hand that is affordable, comperable to factory overseas built products but better quality as it is made right here in Raleigh (well Clayton actually). Sometimes Pete comes accross as stand-offish but just ask him and he will make it right if its not right to begin with. He is an artist, perfectionist and craftsman. As he told me, he works on referral business so he has to make his customers happy to get new business and he made us (and my wife in particular) happy! He is also always easily accessible via cell phone or email.
