Tech was on time, professional, and very informative. Learned a lot from Antonio as he inspected our two units (split and package hvac) and performed the annual maintenance required. One unit was installed in 2006 and other two years ago. Both running well. Suggested repairs on older unit were made....may replace next year. Antonio explained less than favorable condition of old unit capacitor...still working but could go out. We'll wait to replace unit when repair costs outweigh value of old unit. Tech was very helpful in explaining status. CCA has been a very reliable HVAC service...technicians, such as Antonio, have proven to be quite competent and trustworthy.

When the A/C breaks down during a hot summer in North Carolina, it becomes a very stressful situation, to say the least! However, all the folks at Carolina Comfort Air were very helpful, always courteous. Several delays caused us some concern, but everything seems to have worked out very well. We especially appreciated the attention to specific issues we had been having all year with the old unit, dealing with inconsistent cooling and heating throughout the rooms on our first floor. This was addressed in the detailed, very explicit, proposal Caleb gave us the first time he came. It was a deciding factor in choosing among the three estimates we received. Later, when we submitted a list of our other concerns after most of the work was completed, Bill took extra time to go over the list with us and resolve each one. Everyone at Carolina Comfort Air--from all the technicians who came out to the office staff--made us feel that they truly wanted to provide the best possible service. We highly recommend them!

We were in need of a new Heating/AC unit for our one story house. Once we called for a free estimate, we had a consultant come to our house. He checked out the work that needed to be done and gave us different options. He explained the exact process of installation to us. We chose an installation date. On the day of the installation everything went well. Updates were given as the work went along. There were no bad surprises. The whole installation took a day and the technicians were very professional and tidy. This was a smooth and painless process. We are very pleased with Carolina Comfort Air and the service they provided. We will definitely call them again when needed.

My experience with Carolina Comfort Air continues to be positive more than a year after installation. At the annual complimentary service, Brooks identified that the drain line for the upstairs system had become buried, and worked to unbury the line and relocate/extend to a more permanent location allowing for proper flow. This was completed at no-cost to me as they saw it as part of their installation check up process to address. I was very impressed with Brooks, and Carolina Comfort Air in their customer first attitude they continue to show. I look forward to continuing to work with Carolina Comfort Air in maintaining my systems!

Horrible, dishonest experience and I would never recommend a friend or relative use this company, let alone a complete stranger. You will likely be taken advantage of or they will at least attempt to do so. I tried Carolina Comfort because my family was scammed by another company in the past so I read positive reviews and contacted Carolina Comfort. Here come the litany of issues: First, I was scheduled to have a tech from Carolina Comfort come between 8am-1pm (extremely inconvenient and absurdly long time range in the first place). I said OK we should be home but have to leave at 1 for a newborn baby DR appt. No one had contacted or come by 12 pm so I called to get an eta so that we could be home for the service visit. Got a call back a few minutes later from tech named Mr Johnson saying we had an appointment at 2pm (not true and I would be busy then at the the Dr appt). He came around 2 and called after doing diagnostics we didn't ask for, saying the unit was leaking making a hissing sound ( i was in there that morning and it wasnt. And another tech from another company came later that day and did not hear anything). He said the refrigerant was empty and sent an invoice with a pic of his reading showing 0, but in the background of the pic is an entirely different unit that has horizontal steel leuvers (we have an old unit with vertical bars!). I had another company tech come check the reading -- the refrigerant was near full and all he had to add was 8 OUNCES! WHAT A SCAM by this tech at Carolina Comfort. He also said the blower motor on the indoor unit was un-operational and dirty, and that the filter was clogged blowing unsafe air into the house, damaging the blower as well. He felt uncomfortable adding refrigerant and used the SCARE TACTIC using the newborn balloons on our mailbox as leverage saying our air was unsafe. I have CO2, Smoke detectors in the house not signaling anything wrong. So a quote for a new blower was sent for $1500~. The other company's tech tested and examined the motor with me present looking at it together and said yes it is old and makes a sound when you started it up (most do, especially older units) but it wasn't an issue and not out of the ordinary, and all blowers in crawl spaces will have some dust/dirt on them.. Seems to me Carolina Comfort is focused on duping customers, scaring them and recommending unnecessary repairs/replacements, because they also want their salesman to come later in the week to "review what my options are". Been down that road before. I am in a sales position so I know what this is and I also have integrity and wish to do business with a company that is also reliable and trustworthy. Cancelled that appointment. Going with Affordable Solutions HVAC.

My experience with Carolina Comfort Air started in September of 2018. Both of our HVAC systems were over 15 years old, constantly in need of repair, and highly inefficient. I solicited quotes from 5 different companies of various brands and size. Justin contacted me quickly to schedule an inspection, as I saw their mailings and good reviews online. Justin was very knowledgeable from the start and happened to arrive while the warranty contractor was performing a repair (also a reputable company). Justin is the only one who crawled under the house to map the duct work, and while doing so, found that a secondary line was detached from the junction box (blowing cold air into the crawlspace). The warranty contractor was able to repair this onsite once it was identified. Justin provided a reasonable assessment and proposal on a 15-SEER package unit and 16-SEER split gas unit. After review of the pricing and brand options from all contractors, I kept coming back to Justin's technical knowledge when describing his recommendations to me and my confidence in his thoroughness. As an engineer, I appreciate this level of detail and felt I would be working with a company who gets it right. In addition, CCA was the second most competitive pricing option (only beaten by a couple hundred dollars) with apples to apples comparison. I went back and forth with Justin on various options, high-efficient models, etc., but given our house's age, came back to his original recommendation. He could have recommended higher SEER models, like other contractors did, but recommended what he thought was right for my house. I could not have been more RIGHT in my initial feeling of Justin and CCA. We were able to execute the contract and schedule installation within 2 weeks. Justin was able to schedule two crews to complete both systems on the same day, and the team lead Jordan was fantastic and on time. They were able to get right to work and put plastic down on the upstairs carpet (took them like 20+ min to do) and put drop cloth down on the floor. I was very impressed the time they took to ensure cleanliness and protection of our home. Additionally, we had just painted the walls in the hallway, and they did not even make a scratch (I looked!). We had a minor issue regarding placement of the outdoor units, but Justin arrived within an hour of hearing about the issue and was able to drive to the town hall and resolve it with the appropriate department. Talk about responsiveness and dedication to making it right for the customer! The team completed the installation around 4pm, and I had two working systems before the weekend. Jordan gave me a quick run-through of the new smart thermostats, and Justin came by later on after 530pm and stayed for over an hour, past 630pm on a Friday, inspecting the work and tweaking thermostat settings to make sure I had the most optimized system possible. If this isn't going above and beyond, I do not know what is. The system then passed the town inspection and Duke Energy rebate audit with flying colors. The inspectors commented on how high-quality of an install it was. CCA filed all of the Duke rebates on my behalf and sent me the tracking information. Duke had an issue with their system, and I did not receive the duct sealing rebate for the systems. Justin and Shannon with CCA worked with their Duke contact to fix/update in the system, and I received the rebates a few weeks later. With so much volume, they certainly can make things happen. However, CCA does not sacrifice quality with their volume. About a week after install, I had their service team out to adjust the split unit blower motor that was set to the default too-high of a speed for my existing duct work, something you don't always realize until the system has a chance to run and get settled. Bill was also fantastic and was able to diagnose and adjust the setting to the right speed to eliminate the whining noise. Brian and an installation supervisor stopped by earlier that day to take a look as well; again, the commitment to customer satisfaction us unmatched. Last month, Brooks was also fantastic when the heating system was inspected and he was able to tweak the gas output to the optimal setting. All was complimentary and response time was next day! Of all the fantastic service I received, and the personal attention and responsivness from Justin, every CCA employee I had the pleasure of interacting with in my home said, in various ways, that CCA will always do what they need to in order to make it right for the customer. "They'll make it right" is not something you hear unanimously from employees about their employer all the time, and I think is indicative of the type of top-notch ship CCA is sailing. Happy employees result in happy customers (and quality work), and I could not be happier with my choice to partner with CCA for this large investment. I have confidence that any issue I have will be dealt with quickly and with care, and that they will do what is right. If you are in need of replacement or repair, I could not recommend Justin more and would give my highest recommendation to Justin and Carolina Comfort Air!

The service man didn’t arrive until after six pm on a Friday night. He was very nice and seemed very experienced. He was efficient and wrote up the issue for the company to provide a quote. It was going to take 2, 25ft flex ducts, two boots, and two hours of labor. The company called me on Monday and quoted over $1,000! I went and bought the parts for less than $100 and did the job myself with the help of my dad. I normally don’t write reviews, but this isn’t the first time this company has been below satisfactory. I had problems earlier this year that took three diagnosis to resolve the issue of a thermostat that just needed to be reprogrammed. One of the service techs that misdiagnosed it said that the whole system was wired wrong and needed to be reinstalled. Overall, the quality of the service techs was hit and miss. Some new what they were doing, others didn’t know their elbow from their knee. In the end, I’ve decided that it is not worth going back to them.

After being in my home only a year or so, my outside coil needed replacing. Then just a few days ago, my inside TXV and coil went haywire. I was told it needed replaced. So both coils will be replaced in under 5 years. First I was given an estimate of over $1750! Then it was reduced to $800 and finally $600 and some change. The problem seems to be these units are poor quality and may be undersized for the homes. Several neighbors have had similar issues. Many thousands of dollars in costs to families with poor HVAC systems. My unit struggles to keep temp under 76 degrees in summer months. Very frustrating!

Mr. [Member Name Removed]. Our RNC President & VP met you at your home along with one of our Service Technicians. We reviewed the load for your home with you showing the equipment installed in your home was properly sized. As discussed, we are the installers and the warranty length & coverage of refrigerant, etc is determined by the manufacturer. Your coil and txv were replaced on March 2nd and we have not had any visits to your home since so we hope the issues remedied themselves once the parts were replaced. Thanks again for allowing us to work through this with you.

My experience with Carolina Comfort Air has been frustrating and disappointing. I was referred to Carolina Comfort Air by a co-worker and reviewed your information on Angie’s List. We installed a unit for approximately $9000.00 in the hot month of June. We chose an XR16 Trane unit for our 2nd and 3rd floors and added zoning for the two floors. We chose the company with the middle range price. Upon accepting the offer for a same week installation, I was informed that they would not be able to install for another week. To accommodate, they did provide a window unit to help us at night get through the 90+ degree weather. The installers were very friendly and professional. During installation the electrician came to complete the electrical work for the new unit. Unbeknownst to us, he swapped out the existing units’ circuit breaker and put a smaller one on our downstairs unit. That afternoon the breaker flipped twice on our existing unit (not the one we were replacing). Upon completion of the installation, the breaker kept flipping every few days. After a week or two of constant flipping of the breaker, we contacted Carolina Comfort Air about the problems that we were experiencing that began when the new unit was installed. The electrician (contractor) returned to the home and apologized for the problem that he did not have the appropriate breaker size at the time of the installation and he would put a better breaker on the unit. The breaker problem seemed to be fixed. A week after installation the unit stopped working on a Saturday afternoon. Due to the weekend, we had to wait unit Sunday for repairs. Gary came out established that the system had shut off due to water back up and unclogged the drain lines and the unit was working again. Inspector came out and approved the electrical but failed the inspection due to CO2 detectors and automatic closing door to the unit. Our sales person, Terry, had pointed out the possibility of the automatic closing door and had identified the CO2 detectors needed on the 2nd and 3rd Floor. A week later, we noticed water on the ceiling on the 2nd floor. The air conditioner was spraying water from a pipe near the shut off valve. Apparently this had been going on for several days as the attic space was all wet (it did not flow into the pan because it was spraying upward). An additional pipe needed to be added to assist with the circulation/flow. On Monday, a repair person came out to paint the ceiling damaged due to the water and install the C02 detectors. He did install one detector when I asked him about the 2nd one it was not on his order. The initial paint did not cover the stain. I spoke with Phillip regarding the frustration and was very professional and apologized for all of my issues. A second visit was required to repaint the stain. He did not install the C02 detector on the second visit saying his manager told him not to do it. The breaker was still flipping a few times per week and I called in a request to have the electrician come back out to fix it. The electrician (not a contractor) came out and explained that the wrong size breaker was on our existing unit and should have been a 25 amp. He put in the correct breaker and the problem was solved. Another appointment was made to install the missing CO2 detector. Gary came out and installed on the 2nd floor. Terry called and apologized for the confusion. The Raleigh City inspector came out and approved the installation. After discussions with Anna she informed me that the rebate was reduced due to a different thermostat being installed. The wrong thermostat was put in based on the rebate from Duke Energy. Terry contacted me and apologized for the error and assured me that it would be taken care of for my rebate to be $500.00 as quoted. The service manager, Carol, apologized profusely and said she was going to send a $150.00 gift card as a token of good faith that they are working to resolve the issue (this was never received.) The inspection was completed and an upgraded thermostat was installed on September 7th by Barry. Today 10/5, I contacted Duke Energy and they are not in receipt of the rebate. Duke also informed me that they will only accept the rebate up to 90 days after installation. I contacted Anna and she stated that she was waiting for an internal invoice from Management and that due to the late installation of the thermostat I would still get the rebate. Anna assured me several times this is an internal process issue. She stated she would call me back tomorrow to confirm the status. I am a patient person and understand life is too short to get upset about the small things, however, I am beyond frustrated. The gift card that was never received plus the $500.00 from Duke Energy is a large amount of money -- This is still outstanding.
Description of Work: Upstairs AC unit replaced. Added dual zoning for 2nd and 3rd floor.
