Alpha Contracting

After discussing the Big Deal with the provider, I found that it didn't really fit my needs. He advised me to contact Angie's List in order to get a refund of the Big Deal, which I have done.

Too many hidden fees for a simple job. The cost and extra time that was stated that they needed turned into a much too expensive project. Especially the hidden $45 service fee just for showing up. I read the comments from the last few days, called the company and they confirmed that it was all true. Nice but did not reveal all the details in the deal.

Unexpected service dispatch cost, which immediately doubled the cost, plus other higher than expected costs for the parts and labor.

The service was fine. They did what they were supposed to do. There were two men there at times when it was not required to have a two men for the job, but it counted toward my time, so I feel not all my time was utilized as efficiently as it could have been.

Punctual and completed the job relatively quickly. I would recommend them again. However, there was a $45 charge to bring out a 'second truck'. I asked him about this and he said that if it were one truck he wouldn't charge, but he had to bring out a second truck...hence the $45 fee. There was no mention of this on his pricing at all and no explanation as to why he needed a second truck. He sent one person out to start, then he came later. I don't think I should have paid an additional $45 because he decided not to car pool.

There were extra costs we did not know about so we did not end up using the big deal or working with the company. They were very kind and understanding in their responses.

This was a waste of time as the service provider did not disclose the $45 trip charge within the Big Deal terms which decreases the value of the Big Deal. This obviously should have been disclosed.

After buying the Big Deal, I took a look at the company's reviews and saw that one other member noted that they had a $45 service fee that wasn't noted anywhere in the Big Deal description or on their account. When I emailed the provider to confirm this, they responded saying that they do in fact have that service fee. I feel like that basically negates the Big Deal so I have contacted Angie's List in order to get a refund of the Big Deal purchase.

I have requested a refund due to the company wanting to charge an additional fee for trip charge. This was not listed in the deal.

Just a couple email contacts. I was confused about the location served and ordered in error. Prompt response.

I signed up for the deal of the day. I was to receive several hours of electrical work for $39. I received and email the day after signing up. I found this to be very prompt. They were scheduling a couple of weeks out. I found this to be reasonable. However, in the email I See this: "The coupon that you purchased is good towards $139 worth of labor. In addition, there is $45 trip charge due at time of service, which is our standard dispatch fee. Additional charges may apply depending on the scope of work you have." This fee was not mentioned in the deal text,. It was also not mentioned in the FinePrint. I felt that this absolutely should have been disclosed. The whole thing felt disingenuous and I canceled the order for fear that I would discover additional exclusions limitations and additions. I don't like hidden fees or mandatory charges that are not disclosed prior to purchase. This company had a mandatory fee that was in fact greater than the price of the purchased service and chose to not disclose it or reveal it until after the purchase. I do not do business this way.

They emailed me after I purchased the deal saying there would be an additional $45 dispatch fee. Since this wasn't mentioned when I purchased the deal, I have cancelled the purchase. I think the hourly charge should also be mentioned because you don't really know what the deal entails.

Bought a Deal for 2 hours of wiring service. On arrival the crew eventually determined one CAT5 drop wouldn't be as easy as hoped and the other drop couldn't be done due to structural interference. Settled on the single drop. Nothing was discussed regarding fees, and at the end of the job I was presented with a bill for an extra $324, which included a $65 "service charge" just to show up. I think that should have been included in the Deal, or at least noted in the terms of the Deal. If I had known in advance that the job was going to cost that much I probably wouldn't have given them the OK to proceed and just gotten a refund on my Deal.

He said he could come on the 29th. I contacted him the 28th and asked what time he’d come. At first he said 8 or 9 in the morning, but I said that wouldn’t work for me. We arranged for 12. 10 minutes to 12, he called that it might be another hour. Another hour, I got a text that said it would be another hour. Then I got another text that Chris was on his way. Chris called then, it was 3 pm. He said it would be 45-60 minutes. I had to run out to the store – it took literally 5 minutes. His card was in my door saying he missed me. He had two numbers to call, but only called one. It was 5 and I’d waited all day. I called the owner, Anthony Rivera, and told him it was unacceptable. I said someone should come over that night. He offered to show up in the morning. He did show up at 8 am today. He did the work and said he felt really bad, and he directed me to get reimbursed. He was very nice and kind and patient, and he did a really nice job for me. I'm not sure if I would use them again, though, based on their regular prices and the punctuality issues.

Chris was very professional, polite, and competent. The only issue I had was with the hidden truck charge of $60.00 that was collected after the work was performed (No one wants to get hit with a charges they are not expecting). I verified that this was not mentioned in the coupon information on Angie's list. I called Anthony (the owner) and suggested that he include this in the fine print. He said that he would contact Angie's list and take it into consideration.

They did a good job for me. I was satisfied with their service.

There was no go. He didn't come. It was a coupon I had purchased through Angie's list and an appointment had been scheduled.

He just hit the switch on the fuse box (something I have done too many times ) and the lights went on. . Not only did they told me what others have said about the fuse box but that the location of the box is not safe. Here is the best part. they took their time and explain in layman terms. I will be calling in again in a few months.

This company is awesome, professional, and cleans up after themselves! We used Alpha Contracting for our home security system! Free installation with a 3yr contract! They are super friendly will call when they are on there way or running behind! They did a great job explaining our security system and assured us we can cal with any questions. WE are so glad we went with them!

Tech was on time, peformed the installation and cleaned up most mess afterward. Didn't run the wiring eaxctly like I thought it would be, and maybe not as neatly done as could have been, but it is acceptable.

Came when he said he would, and did the job efficiently.

After buying the coupon from AL, it took a little longer than I?d wanted to schedule the appointment but they were responsive and we settled on a date. Approaching the day of work, I didn?t hear from them the day before so I sent them an email to confirm, and they promptly confirmed for the next day and the arrived on time. I have to say they were very professional and friendly. At first 2 workers including Anthony, the owner of Alpha Contracting, arrived and then another worker showed-up about 15 minutes later. So for the coupon (8 hours of electrical labor for $395) it turned out that the 3 workers would do 3 hours of electrical work. I had bought 3 ceiling fans for upstairs rooms that were prepped for ceiling fans. While I had intended to do the work myself I ran into some minor electrical problems and a lack of time. In two rooms wiring fixes in the switch outlet needed fixed. Alpha made these fixes and installed the 3 fans. I had a couple can lights that needed to replace some older lights in an upstairs walk-in closet. They replaced the old fixtures w/the new ones. They did all this work in about 2 hours, which makes sense b/c this is the kind of work that is this company?s bread and butter. (Although I found a lot of left-over parts from the fans they installed. Whenever that happens I?m always a little nervous about the quality of work that was done. One fan has some wobble but nothing major.) I had some bigger projects that I suggested but they would run over the remaining hour limit on the coupon and then $180 per hour would kick-in. Due to the circumstances and what was involved we weren?t ready for those. There were a couple other smaller jobs that I suggested like replacing an outside outlet and checking a downstairs fan for a problem. Anthony didn?t really seem to want to do those. He thought the outside outlet was fine and he thought the fan issue was probably more mechanical than electrical, and he said they don?t really do that kind of work. At no point did Anthony make any suggestions for the remaining work, which isn't his job but a quality company would, in my opinion. I had the impression that he was just fine with leaving early. While he was here I asked him for estimates for a few other larger jobs and asked about whether or not the remaining 1 hour (actually 2 hours for 2 workers or 3 hours for 1 worker) could be applied to those jobs. He said, ?No.? And looking back at the coupon that?s what it states. Overall, I feel like was ripped out of about a third of this coupon deal, that equates to about $125 value. I?m giving his company mediocre grades b/c although they did a decent job I wonder a little about the quality of work. At the same time they were professional , friendly, and cleaned up their mess. But I still feel cheated on this deal. Would I use them again or recommend them ? sorry, but no, I wouldn?t.

All went well and we are very happy for the job provided. Definitely we would use them again.
