+ 0 moreVery pleasant experience. Professional and courteous installation crew. Good job cleaning the work site throughout the job and at the end of the job. Took a while to get the work done; this was explained up front (no problems, since there were no leaks), but understanding the reputation of this installer, we were willing to wait. Because we knew there would be a delay of several weeks, we did not lower the responsiveness score.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced old roof. Also, installed gutter leaf guard protection.

+ -1 moreMacks crew arrived punctually and worked steadily all day. There was a particularly challenging situation with the flat roof section and a window. Mack worked extra hard to make the roof watertight after discovering some poor workmanship of the vinyl siding installer 10 yrs before.
Description of Work: Conover Construction subcontracted Macks to roof my house. I. We will remove the existing shingles back down to the wood deck and dispose of all debris properly. 2. We will replace up to six sheets of OSB sheeting. 3. We will furnish and install one layer of#15 lb. plain asphalt felt over the entire wood deck area. 4. We will furnish and install a new 30 year asphalt fiberglass architectural shingle roof system. Color to be selected by the owner. 5. We will furnish and install new hip and ridge shingles per manufacturer’s specifications. 6. We will furnish and install a vented ridge on the low area of the roof, which has a normal ridge line to allow for proper ventilation. 7. We will furnish and install new vent pipe flashings on all pipe penetrations. 8. We will furnish and install new prefinished step flashing and counter flashing as required to maintain a watertight seal. 9. On the flat roof area across the front of the house, we will furnish and install one layer of 1⁄2” high density fiberboard roof insulation as a separator between the wood deck and the new rubber membrane. 10. We will furnish and install a new .045 EPDM fully adhered rubber membrane across this area as there is not sufficient slope to install shingles on the area without creating problems. 11. We will flash this area per manufacturer’s specifications. 12. We will furnish our standard two year roofing contractor’s warranty and a 30 year shingle manufacturer’s warranty.

+ -1 moreThe roofer was a little too anxious to do the job. His assistant kept chiming in to agree with everything he said. I got another estimate. In the process of investigating the shingles, I found out that Mack installs an inferior shingle. Then they want to sell you an extended warranty at extra cost of like $150 or 175 I believe. The same warranty comes with other brands of shingles. Once I found out he installed an inferior shingle, I didn't have anything further to do with him.
Description of Work: Just got estimates and had followup questions answered.
