ZACHARY'S NEIGHBORHOOD LAWN CARE & LANDSCAPE

I contracted with Zachary Geraci to provide landscaping services in the spring of 2008. The quality of the work was acceptable for the first few months but in November, no one showed up to mow or to remove fallen leaves. I contacted Zachary to discuss the situation and he told me that his leaf truck was not working correctly but he expected to be out in the near future. Despite repeated emails and phone calls promising imminent service, the leaf removal did not occur until early January. By that time, my lawn was ruined. In the second week of January, Zachary called me to tell me he was closing his business and was reopening under a new name (this was after I paid for November and December services that were not rendered). He offered a quote but I chose to go with another landscaper due to the continued communication issues. He promised to return my deposit but has not done so. I would NOT recommend this gentleman and would never do business with him again.

Initially I thought they did good work and were trying hard. I could tell that it was a new business so I tried to be patient. They would promise to show up on a certain day and then never come. At times I waited weeks for them to come and it was hard to reach them. They always made up excuses and became unreliable. They didn't come for two months that I had paid for. I simple asked for my deposit back and I never heard from them regarding it. I felt that they were very unprofessional about the situation.

We used this company for many months. They overpromised and underdelivered. Our grass was dead the months they worked on our yard. They didn't have an answer for what the problem was or how to fix it. They did not keep our hedges trimmed very well. Then we got a call apologizing for how the service was not good because they had too many customers. I agreed verbally to use them again and they were going to send me a new contract to review. I never heard from them again.

I had worked with this company before, for a couple of years, and had a reasonably good experience. But, in Jan. 2009, I gave them $290 to do a post-winter cleanup in my yard and put in new mulch in the beds around the house. They put me off with various excuses for several weeks. In about March, I tried to contact the owner (through e-mail, which was the way we'd always communicated) and found both his regular e-mail and the account he used to receive payments via PayPal were giving "no such mailbox" errors. After several days of not being able to reach them, I submitted a claim for resolution through PayPal. The owner has never responded to PayPal's claim inquiries and my money has not been returned.

The end of October '08 they aerated and fed my lawn, and they were going to come back in November to do leaf clean-up. They never showed up in November to do the leaf clean-up. I e-mailed them two different times; after the first e-mail the owner contacted me to explain that they were having personnel issues and they would come do my yard the next week. They never showed and I never heard from them again. I fired them in December. The work was decent when they showed up to do it; however, when they failed to show up in November it was unprofessional. They could have contacted me to let me know that they were not going to be able to make it to do the work.

It's been a very good experience. They show up on time every 7 days. The quality of work is good.

This company appeared to be professional at the onset with prompt returned phone calls, the first few conversations with introductions, as well as our specific needs. Scheduled an appointment, they came out to see us and take a look at what we needed. Several quotes were needed: a drain basin for water collecting outside our basement door, some landscaping rock where pine straw existed, bush removal and then potentially re-seeding for the fall. Their drain "specialist" was unable to make the first appointment (this was a Saturday) so they looked over everything we were inquiring about and said they would get back to us. Wrote everything down on a clip board, etc. and said they would get out within the following week to have their drain specialist see about our drainage issue. Thursday rolled around and no word or email, as we were told we'd be sent with preliminary information. I called the company to inquire about a quote and/or drain status, got voice mail and left a message. No return call. The following week, I noticed their vehicle in my driveway, assuming the drain "specialist" was with them checking out the drain issue. (I did not speak with them) End or the week rolls around and I never heard from the company via phone or email. So, I imagined the job either could not be done or they had better things to do other than get back with us and let us know one way or the other. Found another company who within one day visited us, gave me a quote the next and the work was completed a week later. The first company missed out on several good referrals with my whole family's livelihood in real estate. What a disappointment.

We were customers for about four or five months. During this period Zachary's mowed our lawn regularly, but they only mulched our front lawn, completely ignoring our rear beds and plants, and we had a tough time getting them to prune the plants on a regular basis. Our bushes were wild and wiry by the time my husband finally gave up and sent an email to Zachary asking to cancel our service. Zachary responded to our email, but it went into my husband's spam folder so it took awhile to find it. He was very polite and professional, and said that he had experienced some problems with some of his workers and that he'd received a few other complaints as well. He apologized for our experience and agreed to cancel our contract after our 30 days notice. Zachary was a nice guy, but the work performed wasn't what was stated in our contract. Hopefully his situation with the people who do his work will improve. I regret that we paid so much for essentially just mowing.

It didn't go too well in terms of quality work. They seemed to be in too much of a hurry and didn't do the work properly. The price indicated is for the year.

Zachary and Jessica were very responsive to my inquiry about the project. The two of them plus another coworker came out to the house that week and listened to what we wanted and asked questions and provided helpful information on ideas for the backyard. The next day I received a proposal and we met again to discuss. The original timeline for the project that was given was about a week and a half but they were able to complete the major work in two days. The backyard looks great and we are working with them on adding some more sod and to do some landscaping. Zachary's team did a few extras for us which was very appreciated. The extra mulch was put in the beds in the front of the house and a few other things were done to give the landscaping a face lift that were not asked for. This "going the extra yard" makes me want to work with them again.

It was fine. We had talked about doing this back in the December. He called to let us know that he would be in the neighborhood and wanted to know if we would like it done. They did a very good job. He was very cost efficient. His price was reasonable.

We liked the company, they had great reviews on Angie's List. They were very professional and courteous. They walked around and asked what we wanted done. They will come out every week do lawn care.

They are consistently good and they have friendly and knowledgeable employees. They do our quarterly lawn service, including aeration, seeding and weed control.

I called them three times. They said they would come by for a free estimate. They came out in a reasonable amount of time. They told me that it would be two weeks before they could come out. I went with someone else so they could come out sooner. They agreed to still come out in the two weeks. They never came. I e-mailed them and they never responded.

We have been using him over a year, and have been very pleased. He is very responsive and very attentive to customer requests.

He called back promptly and said his rates started at $45. He said his wife would call on Monday to set up a time. Well, Monday came and went with no call, so I called them on Tuesday and spoke to his wife. She apologized that they "had a big job that was taking a lot of attention" thus preventing a call from them (pointer for Zachary s wife: never tell a customer that someone else is more important it leaves a bad taste in the mouth). She said they thought they could do the work sometime between Wednesday and the weekend and asked if I wanted him to mark sprinkler heads. I chose to do it myself to avoid accidents/damage. So, I got up early Wednesday morning before work to mark the area with flags before he came out to complete the work. She had told me he would have someone come by to do the aeration when they were near my neighborhood. Well, Friday came and still no one showed to do the work, so I called again and talked to Zachary to get a definitive time so I could plan the weekend. He again apologized and mentioned the "big job" and told me someone would come by Saturday morning before 9 AM. I missed an event on Saturday morning to meet the worker. At 9:30 AM, when no one showed up, I called Zachary to find out the status. He told me that he "broke the chain" on his aerator while he was loading it to come to my house. I should have asked him if he also broke his cell phone, because he didn't call me. He said it was "an old aerator he bought a rental company" and he probably couldn't get a chain over the weekend. Well, a "Grade A" Angie's List service provider would have checked for parts and then called me back with info, good or bad. In this case, I received no call whatsoever and have never heard from Zachary again. I realize this was a simple, small aeration job. However, there are right ways and wrong ways to handle it. If he couldn't do it, he should have told me so. From the start, Zachary and Co. did a poor job managing expectations and simply did not follow through on a commitment. I suggest you call another company) if you need yard work.

He did an EXCELLENT job on the hedges/trees/bushes around the house which has prompted me to hire him on a regular basis. His crew showed up yesterday and treated the driveway for weeds as well as mowed and edged the front and back yard. The place is already coming back very well from its neglected state. I am optimistic that Zachary and his crew, after some time treating it, will have it looking splendid. I look forward to a long and healthy working relationship with Zachary.

Reached out to Zachary's based on my search from Angie's List. Response to questions, etc. has been very acceptable to date - prompt, courteous, etc. So far, all work has been completing on time and to our satisfaction. Pricing is reasonable, based on our expectations. Not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive either. Originally was looking for just weekly maintenance, but was informed that would need to contract for the full breadth of services due to schedule, etc. on their part. Wasn't a problem for us but may be for others.

They've done good work. Show up on time and do what they say they will. The project isn't finished- but they can't control the weather. I'm hoping we can get more done this year.

It couldn't have gone better. Zachary worked with me directly, walking the property with me and listening to my every comment. I gave him a budget and he gave me a masterpiece, one he was so proud of that he posted photos of it on his website. When we returned home from our weekend away to see the front yard, my wife was so overjoyed that she started crying. Zachary guarantees his work, and since the installation I've had trouble with only one bush, which he promptly removed and will reinstall once it gets warmer. One note: During the installation he apparently grabbed the attention of my neighbor across the street. While he was there, he mowed the lawn for her and removed her leaves, all at a moment's notice. Now that's service!

Job 1: Zach and his wife are very nice, well-intentioned people. However, the follow-through is poor. For $210 per month we certainly did not get our money's worth. FOLLOW-UP: It went well, but we have decided to go our separate ways with our yard care.

Poorly. Did not show up on time so that I could be there to go over what I wanted done. Ended up discussing over phone while he was at my house and I was away. I had hand ranked the small front lawn area so that they would not disturb the new soil and seeding for the front lawn. Instead of blowing leaves from driveway and beds down driveway to street for removal, they blew them across the newly seeded and soiled lawn, thus removing $50 worth of seeding soil and a lot of work. They blew my next door neighbor's driveway instead of mine which seems silly, since my driveway is in front of my garage which is attached to my house. They also blew debris and leave onto my front porch and even under my front door into the house. Left a pretty good sized mess of the pedestrian and surfaced areas of the front. They sucked up a significant amount of leaves from the curb. I would have gladly paid for them to pay attention to the details.

Excellent! I would highly recommend this company. The only reason I would can not use is they do not service our area in Waxhaw. Bummer.

After getting an estimate for his services, we had asked Zach for some addresses in the neighborhood to drive by and look at his work. Zach emailed us and said that if Angie's List wasn't a good enough reference, he didn't want the job. I was shocked. We did take a few extra days trying to decide if my husband wanted to do the fertilizing or have Zach do it. Zach did come down in price which I thought was great. We had decided to go ahead with his services until he refused to give us some addresses of his customers just so we could see his work. We had no intention of talking to any of them, just to look. We were having an estimate from another company at the same time and they had no problem giving us addresses and telephone numbers of customers in the neighborhood. It just makes you wonder. Zach was very responsive in answering our phone calls/emails and providing an estimate in a timely matter. It is too bad we couldn't have given a better report.

On very short notice in the peak of the summertime, Zachary and his team made time in their schedule to accommodate my moving plans. Additionally, the project was a monster as the lawn had been completely neglected for several years. They were pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and skilled. Took on the monster of a job on short notice, worked us into holes in their schedule and had the whole thing done early before we had to have it done for our move. Fantastic job and would definitely recommend to anyone searching for care.
