I think the time it took to finish a 16 in by 16 in hole was 4-5 hrs. I would have felt better if the job was done quickly. I think the person came to work was last minute replacement, so I will try to use Vince one more time and see how it goes.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
This customer failed to inform us that the reason they needed a drywall repair was due to an active bee hive that was hidden in the ceiling of their home. When we arrived, we discovered that a pest control company had previously sprayed the hive but the hive was not fully dead. My technician had to take extra precautions to insure his and the customer’s safety while performing the repairs. It was irresponsible on this customer’s part to allow us to come without disclosing that information upfront. There are many people that are highly allergic to bee stings. By not informing us upfront of the presence of an active bee hive, they carelessly endangered the life of another person. Additionally, they expected the hive extraction, drywall repair, and painting of the ceiling to be completed in 2 hours or less. Their expectations were simply unrealistic. We were courteous and professional and handled a difficult situation as efficiently as we could. Their repair including shopping for the insecticide and materials for the repair was 4 hours for a total cost of $210 - NOT $350 that the customer has claimed in this report. Instead of being thankful that we handled their repair needs in a timely manner with quality results, they were only concerned about their bottom line cost. To reward us for our diligence and hard work, they have chosen to misrepresent the facts and insult us on the Angie’s List forum. With 30 years in maintenance, I have learned that some folks cannot be pleased unless of course the service is offered at no cost to them. I enjoy what I do and look forward to helping anyone and everyone that I can but I do expect to receive some measure of gratitude and reasonable compensation for the service that we perform. Hopefully these folks will one day realize that we are all connected and learn to appreciate others that come into their lives from time to time. I wish them well, but will not work for them again unless they apologize for their insults and misrepresentation of the facts. If you are looking for an honest, hardworking and quality minded service, give us a call and you will see why we have almost 600 “A” reports. Vince Curcio The Bizzzy Bee.

Best handyman experience I've ever had! Owner returned my initial call within a few hours, despite being sick. He was able to provide me with standard rates and schedule the dog door installation for exactly when I requested it. Day-of, I received a confirmation phone call when the handyman was on his way to our house. He was on-time and very curteous. He installed the door perfectly, cleaned up the installation area, and within the initial quoted timeframe (and therefore price). We can't wait to use them again!
I was very pleased with the engagement. I was afraid the job would be too small for this firm. They promptly responded they wanted the job. Bizzzy Bee scheduled an appointment that was convenient for me. They confirmed the appointment the day prior. David called to say he was on his way. He arrived as expected. David allowed me to show him what was needed and he covered what he could and could not do. He clearly knew what he was doing. The work was done well and quickly. David was professional the entire time. Bizzzy Bee sent over additional help when the job was too big for one person. I will use this firm again.
Description of Work: Weather proofed an external leak on the house. Replaced external light fixture. Replaced caulk of shower. Replaced gasket on dishwasher.

Arrived at the time scheduled. The technician and I went over the job plan that I had been given an estimate for, with some changes (scope reduction) for the work to be done. Material was obtained by the technician. He kept busy the entire time, was courteous, neat, and professional. He explained in detailed some of the aspects of the work that had to be done and then proceeded to finish the job. The job lasted over two days and all the work from start to finish, was done quickly and neatly. The price was well within the estimate even with my request to install a storm door which was easily accommodated because of my reduction in scope of the initial job. As part of my overall estimate there are other projects to be done and I will be more than happy to have this contractor do the work.

I would like to recommend The Bizzy Bee handyman service. Vince was easy to contact, called me back and arranged an appointment within days for the installation of exterior shutters on 4 front windos. The handyman arrived on time and finished the job in the estimated time in a very professional manner. The new shutters look great. I would recommend this provider to anyone without reservation.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
Are you kidding me?!?! This is the ONLY communication I received from this customer: “I need insulation in my attic. An exterior door that opens out to open in. Roof leak patched. Member suggested dates to schedule service: Morning (AM) on 10/17/2014 Afternoon (PM) on 10/17/2014 Morning (AM) on 10/27/2014” In my response to this customer through the Angie's List message center. I advised her that we could come out on a specific day (which she listed as one of her open available days) but I asked her to call me first so we could confirm and finalize the arrangements. She gave NO phone number, NO address, NO email address and DID NOT follow my instructions to call me so I could get this information and firm up the arrangements. If I don't have the address to come to nor the phone number to call, where am I supposed to go to provide an estimate or perform services?!?!?! Additionally, since she didn’t have our rates, how did she arrive at $3000 for a project we never even bid on?!?!? What more can I say??? This customer is her own problem and she has attacked us on an open forum, accusing us of not keeping a commitment that was never finalized or confirmed. I am absolutely flabbergasted! This customer needs to go back and check her message records and when she sees that she never finalized the arrangements that she claims she made, I will be waiting for her apology.
Vince got back to me within 24 hours when I left a message stating what needed to be done. He was courteous and professional. Chris did a very nice job. He was competent and knowledgeable. He showed us what he was doing and why. It was affordable, quick, and painless. We would definitely use Bizzzy Bee in the future. We highly recommend them.

I have used Vince and the Bizzzy Bee several times in the past. He is my "go to" guy for anything involving handyman work. He always has outstanding specialists for work he can't do himself. This time we needed an electrician. Vince has Gary as his company's electrician. Gary is low key, personable and loves what he does for a living (very clearly). He is also the best electrician we've ever utilized. We had several outlets blowing fuses in the kitchen and dining room when certain appliances were used. A couple of other folks had not been able to figure out why. Gary took the time to investigate thoroughly and learned that the recessed lighting we had installed years before as well as the lighting we had in our chandelier was using almost maximum amps. He went with my wife to Home Depot and recommended new LED recessed lighting and new LED chandelier bulbs. She bought them and he installed them. Problem fixed. He even fixed a loose fuse in our main fuse box that he noticed when investigating the outlet problem. I noticed that our older home didn't seem to have GFIs which I knew to be safety requirements in areas close to water. Gary confirmed that and bought and installed new GFIs in the kitchen and 3 bathrooms. No more risk of electrocution! We had just purchased and had delivered a new greenhouse to replace one which had an electrical panel box in the ground for a fan. The new one had a light and exhaust fan which needed connecting to the panel box. The panel box had become defective over the past year so Gary replaced it and connected the light and exhaust fan. The greenhouse works perfectly now and my wife loves it. Quite frankly, I always call Vince first for any problem we have. If he can't handle the job, he knows who to recommend. When we needed a sofa and recliner chair moved up to our daughter's house, he couldn't provide the two men necessary, so he recommended Two Men and A Truck, who did the job for us. I trust Vince and the people he employs. And, we're glad to have had his help over the years.
Description of Work: Two visits one week apart: 1) checked faulty outlets in kitchen and dining room, blowing fuses with certain appliances, 2) upgraded recessed lighting in kitchen, sitting room and den, and chandelier lighting in dining room, 3) placed new GFIs in kitchen and 3 bathrooms, 4) replaced faulty electrical panel box in greenhouse, 5) attached power to light and exhaust fan in new greenhouse.
It did no go, nor will I consider them for future work.
Description of Work: The request was for an estimate investigate/repair a former roof leak and replace vinyl siding backer board possibly water damaged and made back in late June. Called main number twice before a returned call from Vince. Due to high volume of work in the area, many contractors indicated it would be a number of weeks before they could schedule an inspection. I have a few bids and am ready to have the work completed when Vince called Sunday 9/7 to see if the work still needed to be done. We scheduled an appointment for this morning at 8:30 for an estimate. I explained I have a 2.5 story Victorian home with steep pitched roof and would need about 150 sq ft of siding removed and possible backer board replaced along with checking the roof. Last evening at 7:45 PM I received a voice mail from Tom, who indicated he was the sub contractor, and wondered how early he could come to my home to start the work. At 7:30 AM, two men are at my house to complete the work. I specified I was looking for an estimate prior to starting. After taking 15 minutes to explain the scope of the work, the second subcontractor stated he needed an addendum to the contract (there was no contract) and that it would cost me $45/per man/hour if they took the ladders off of the truck. Only one of which could even reach the area in question safely. I said thanks, but no thanks. Had I been told up front that there would be a charge for the estimate, I would have cancelled the appointment as I have two other bids. The bidding companies provided a free estimate, with photo documentation of the areas where work is needed and provided cost estimates for the materials with disclaimers that the siding may not mach due to age. The subcontractors seemed ill prepared and were only looking for day work.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
There are several statements by this customer that need correcting. First, I never use subs and my brother Tom who called him to verify the best time to start did not identify himself as a subcontractor. That was a false statement by this customer. I do not use subs because I and my men do all the work and I warrantee our work. I originally spoke with this customer in June 2014. He told me that he had a leak investigation repair that required men who could get on a very steep roof high up in the air – 40 feet or more. He asked if we could do that. He wanted us to open up the area in question and inspect for damages; then give him an estimated cost before proceeding so that he would know what to expect and then start the repairs. I told him that we could, but at that time we were several weeks out and he was fine with that and was willing to wait. He let me know that he was going to be gone in the middle of July, so we agreed that it would be after that in August or later to start the work. I also told him that we could do what he wanted but we could not open up his chimney and wall to investigate damages for free, especially given the location 40’ up on a very steep roof. I let him know that for safety reasons it would require two men. He understood and was fine with that. I gave him our rates and he was fine with our rates and agreed to have us come out to do the job. When I called this customer on Sunday the 7th of September to let him know that we were ready to start the job his exact words were “That’s Great! That’s perfect timing!”. At no time did I agree to perform a free investigation/quote that would require two men with special equipment to go 40’ in the air on a very steep pitched roof. When my men arrived they listened to what he wanted them to inspect and as is normal, before we start the job they asked him to sign a work order agreement so that we were clear on the rate and what was to be performed. When he said that he only wanted a free quote they reminded him that we could not do what he was asking us to do for free. He changed his mind at the last minute and asked my men to leave. Apparently this customer thought that if he could get us to his home with our equipment that I would change my mind and agree to a free estimate since we were already there. For reasons of liability and safety protocol I cannot perform free estimates that require the amount of equipment and man power that he wanted me to expend. It was an unreasonable request and the customer wasted our time by canceling the approved job at the last minute. When he did not get what he wanted from me for free he decided to lash out with false comments - twisting the facts. The real victim here is me! My time and resources were wasted and now my good name has been wrongfully dragged through the mud because of an unreasonable and deceptive man who only cares about getting what he wants. We could have been performing a service for an honest customer who respects our time and the honest service that we perform on their behalf. When I read this customer’s comments, I even tried to reason with this customer before responding to his ridiculous fabrication. I asked him to remove the bad report and he refused. Some people are just mean spirited and petty. When they don’t get what they want, they lash out at others even when they are the one who is in the wrong. I will not let petty people like this customer stop me from helping others who deserve our assistance. If you want an honest and dependable maintenance service, give me a call and I will be more than happy to help anyone who needs our service. Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee

I unfortunately was out of the country when I received an email from my tenant about a leaky AC. I had my dad (who is in another state) find someone on Angie's list to replace the AC. Upon having the Bizzy Bee come out, they found the whole wall to have water damage. At that time, they explained this to my dad, who at the time asked for an estimate. They said they do not provide estimates for this type of work, but he verbally told my father that the materials could range from $600-700 and the labor would range from $500-$600 (around $1300 on the high end). That was the last they had discussed the cost of the job. When I returned from my trip, I called Vince to see how the job was going and I even brought up where we were regarding the cost of the job. His response to me was "I don't know, my wife handles all of that". After the job was finished, I received an invoice in the amount of $1884 ($482 for materials and $1402 for labor). Now the material cost was significantly less than discussed originally with my father, but the labor was over double what we discussed. This was brought up to them after receiving the invoice; about how it was concerning to see such a large difference from originally discussed. He followed up with an email where he simply said the work was more involved than originally discussed and he was some what defensive in his response. I unfortunately could do nothing but pay the bill, but please be aware of how this company runs as a business. They charge an "hourly" labor rate, and do not give estimates (and you are at their mercy regarding how long it takes to do a job). I am always skeptical in paying someone in this line of work "hourly" and is why I always seek estimates. For example: One day I paid 2 people (for a full 8 hours each) to rebuild my wall) for a total of $800 for the day (I agree part of this may have been a 2 person job, but not for the full 8 hours). At the least, Vince needs to let his customers know "I know we originally discussed price A for the job, but we have seen unexpected things and it is looking like the price of the job will be more like price B". That would be much better than the customer receiving an invoice after the job is done, and find the labor being over double what was originally stated. Overall: I would say the work was done correctly, but for your sake, be aware of how they operate their business, so you are not in for the surprise I was regarding the labor price/final invoice price.
Description of Work: Removed and rebuilt wall that had water damage from a leaky wall AC unit, replaced the AC, and put wall ball together.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
This customer’s representation of the situation is completely false. The only true statement made was that he was out of the country and the air conditioning unit went out. This customer’s father called us to shop and change out an air conditioning unit for his son who was in Italy at that time. We sent him our rates in writing and specified that for this scope of work, it would be 4-5 hours labor ($180-$225) plus the cost of the air conditioner. Changing out a window/wall AC unit is only a half day of labor. There’s no need to do an on-site quote for small repairs such as these. We would have had no way of knowing that the wall was rotted out. When we went to install the air conditioner, we already had 3 hours into measuring, shopping the correct sized unit, purchasing the replacement unit, and taking the old unit out. When we removed the old unit, we found severe rot in the framing for the unit. We immediately sent the customer’s father pictures before proceeding with a tear-out of the wall. At that time, we informed him that we had no idea how far the rot went but based on the extensive rot in the AC framing, it was going to be more - but how much more was still an unknown. He gave consent to investigate further, which is when I had a lead carpenter open up the drywall from the inside above the wainscoting. At that point we knew that the rot went down below and behind the wainscoting and outward on both sides. The wall had been dripped into by the old AC since the time it was installed. The reason was that no flashing had been installed to prevent the seepage. We had two choices – demo the custom wainscoting and the rest of the drywall from the inside or demo the siding from the outside. The least costly option was to demo from the outside. Even though we still didn’t have all of the rot exposed yet, we told the customer’s father that it was going to be at LEAST a day to a day and a half for two men plus materials to tear out and rebuild the wall. No dollar amount was given because we did not know for sure what the total damages would be. The father had our rates in writing and had given me permission to proceed and even thanked me for the multiple pictures and phone call updates as we went along. 1 to 1.5 days for two men is 16 to 24 man hours. Our standard rate is $45 per man hour so that would have been $720-$1080 in labor. Additionally, that didn’t include the work that had already been done, nor completing the installation of the AC. Once we opened up the wall, we found extensive mold in the insulation, on the back side of the drywall, on the back side of the wainscoting, and on the back side of the siding. Also, we found a large larvae nest of carpenter ants and several wood rotted framing members. As stated, the father was given detailed updates the whole way through along with pictures. Although the drywall, insulation, and rotted framing couldn’t be salvaged, we were able to treat the back side of the wainscoting and siding to save this customer some money on the material side of things. Based on what the father was told about the additional work of 1-1.5 days for two men AND the original scope of work, there was no way that he should have expected a minimal labor cost of $500-$600. Instead of being appreciative that we took every cost saving measure possible on his behalf, the son has misrepresented the facts and minimalized the severity of the rot. He even attempted to coerce me into lowering the bill by having his father contact me via email and sent texts to my wife threatening to write a bad review on Angie’s List. This forum should not be used as a club with which to coerce honest, hard-working contractors to lower the bill. I am sorry that he had such extensive damage and that he had to return from such a nice trip only to be hit with a large repair bill. But we did nothing wrong and I cannot believe this man has demonized us for refusing to meet his demands. I have the pictures and text messages to prove to anyone interested that we did everything we could to communicate the facts and keep them informed. Our rates were given upfront and we only did what we were asked to do. If we had operated all these years in the manner in which this man has misrepresented about us, we would not have been in business for very long. And we certainly would not have had the great reputation and success that we now enjoy with over 11 years of great service as a top provider with Angie’s List. Vince C, Owner of The Bizzzy Bee.
Vince was great! The work turned out to be way more extensive once his crew got in there. (there were termites and carpenter ants behind the rotted wood) He kept us informed, was easy to get in touch with and was fair.
Description of Work: Repaired rotting wood around windows, doors and pillars on our rental home. Also parged the foundation.

They never showed up. They finally called my back but never set an appointment. He called me about a week and a half after I emailed him and said he was going to call me back to set up an appointment to have somebody come out for the quote. And then, all of a sudden, about a week after that, one of his technicians called me back and said he was on his way to my house. I was like, "Well, nobody called me to set up an appointment and I'm not even in town." He said, "Well, my bad. I'll let my office know that nobody called." About 10 or 14 days after that, the owner called me and asked if they could set up an appointment to come out. I said no, that I already got the work done. I just did it myself.

Here are the REAL facts: Customer contacted us via email on 6/22/2014 at 1:07 PM (not on 6/2/2014 as he claims) Customer was contacted by phone on 6/23/2014 at 8:48 PM (not a “week and a half later” as he claims) at which time an “open” quote time was discussed and agreed to since it was all outside work. We were given permission to go on the property as soon as possible and look at the work, which he stated on the phone was “3 Doors, 6 window flashing leaks, and wood rot”. The soonest I could get my technician out to look at the work was 6/27/2014 (not 2 and a half weeks later as he claims), which was when my technician called the customer (as is our policy even when we have an ‘open’ quote invitation). My technician was then told by the customer that he was out of town and that he would call us to set up another appointment. When the customer didn’t call to re-set an appointment, I followed up on 7/22/2014 at 3:58 PM and was told that he already got the work done. At no time was I unresponsive. I simply followed the customer’s instructions and now am being accused of being unresponsive and unprofessional. I’m not sure what this customer’s problem is but if I follow his instructions and then get blasted for doing so, I can only assume at that point that he is either confused or delusional.

I was very unhappy with them. He came with his wife who did the powerwashing in the driveway. It was not done very well. The repairs weren't very extensive, but it took them a long time, about a day and a half and their price was high. They left the area messy when they were done. He also repaired some hardware on a door and it was done incorrectly.

When I read this review I was surprised. In order to be sure of which customer this was, I pulled up the pictures we had of the completed work and not only were all the surfaces that were pressure washed pristine, but the work zone was left clean and orderly. This customer has highly exaggerated the facts regarding every aspect of the service that was performed for him. The real issue is that this customer has an unrealistic expectation of what good quality maintenance should cost and is complaining even though they received a professional quality service. After reviewing the pictures of the sidewalks, driveway, walkway, and steps that were pressure washed, the customer has unrealistic expectations if they believe that the surfaces could have been any cleaner. $250 of the customer’s bill was for materials which left $810 in labor to cover a very labor extensive list of repairs that included: Pressure washed sidewalks (~400 lin.ft.) Pressure washed walkway (~30 lin.ft.) Pressure washed driveway (~650-700 sqft) Pressure washed (3) brick steps Repaired the bases of (3) columns; Caulked, primed, and painted repairs Adjusted (2) fence gates to operate as intended Installed (1) gate latch Replaced screen in the back door Installed plexi-glass over the screen door Cleared the gutters and downspouts on a 3,129 sqft., 2-story home Replaced (1) picket on the front porch railing Installed ladder hanger in garage Installed door knob on front screen door Bondo repaired plantation blind then primed and painted the repair Washed light fixture and replaced light bulbs in the fixture above the garage door Made material list as needed, shopped for the materials, and brought them to the job We perform a professional and quality service at a fair price. This particular customer got a phenomenal deal for the list of work items they requested. We consistently get compliments on the husband and wife team that performed the service at this home because they work hard and efficiently with good results. If you are looking for an top quality service we are the company that you want to call.

Lenny, Vince's brother is excellent!!! Got after a project that was a pain at best and got it fixed !!! I would suggest Bizzzy Bee to anyone that needed work I have other projects that they will be working on as dollars hold out I have a deck they will be painting From your list, I called four people..... One never returned the call One came out looked at the project and never sent estimate or returned phone calls One came out and gave me an estimate that was far more than Bizzzy Bee by the time the fourth called back I had made my mind to stick with Bizzzy Bee If it works, don't (get someone else to) fix it

Long story short: Vinnie stated he does not warranty his concrete work. At all. The gentleman that did the work was fine. Seemed to be a good kid, hard worker. HOWEVER... a decent chunk of the work that was done was around concrete repair where the driveway had cracks. We agreed to an estimate, price was fair, work was done ~November 2013. Less than two weeks later, all of the driveway repairs had failed. All the cracks were exactly as they were before the repairs were done. Materials were apparently inappropriate for the job. We contacted Vinnie, who said that the weather was probably a factor and that he would be happy to come back out under warranty when things warmed up a bit. We followed up in June 2014, as plenty of time had passed. He now states he does not warranty his concrete work because "concrete cracks, that's what it does" and that he "can't control nature." He said he would provide another estimate to redo the work. It's been three weeks, no estimate. Perhaps just as well because if we have to pay for this again, it won't be through him. We don't do business with folks who don't stand behind what they deliver.
Here are the REAL facts: The scope of the work that this customer made a complaint about was multiple cracks repaired in their unstable concrete driveway. The amount of the crack repair was $337.50 -NOT- $3000 as the customer has stated. These crack repairs constituted a very small part of a multiple work-item contract (they were extremely happy with all the other work). The Actual Work that was completed is as follows: 18 security pins installed on windows; Installed a runoff drain; Seam sealed multiple areas of siding, windows and doors; Repaired the shed doors; Replaced rotted trim on 5 windows, 1 door jamb and the fascia trim; Replaced 1 window topper; painted repairs as needed; Backfilled cracks in the driveway. The work was performed during the period spanning 11/11/2013 through 11/20/2013. The customer wrote the following on 12/17/2013 (a month later –NOT- “less than two weeks later”): “the driveway will need some touch-up come spring (it's re-cracked in a couple spots)” A couple of spots is far different from “all of the driveway repairs had failed” In that same email, the customer said “Thanks for the good work” in reference to the total job There are a limited number of ways to repair cracks in concrete and there isn’t a company around that can or will guarantee that the expansion and contraction of the ground won’t re-open the cracks. There are (3) options for concrete crack repair: Backfill the cracks, topcoat the concrete, or replace the concrete. Unless the concrete is removed and a new foundation has been laid, the cracks can and will come back over a period of time. The customer was told the options and chose the least costly option for repairing the cracks. When the cracks began to re-open, the customer has assumed that the repairs were faulty and is angry because we are unwilling to re-do the work for free. The fact of the matter is that this customer needs a new driveway and doesn’t want to spend the money for a new driveway. Our temporary patch was meant to give the customer more time so they can prepare themselves for a driveway replacement when they are ready. Unfortunately, the ground under the driveway is too unstable and they will have to live with the cracks until they are ready to replace the driveway. We do warranty our work when it is within our control to do so. We cannot warranty work that is subject to variables outside of our control.

They arrived promptly, worked carefully, cleaned the area, and had me examine the repair while explaining what had been done. As usual, they professional and friendly. Vince and his team are my 'go-to' folks for anything I don't want to tackle myself.

He was always on time and called in advance to ensure we were up for the morning arrival. He got right to work and did a fabulous job throughout. I would hire again and again based upon the results.
