The work performed was satisfactory and all of the 3 workers I dealt with were courteous and efficient. The only problem I had was the collection practices. Paula emailed me an invoice at 8am on a Tuesday. A little after 2 pm that same day, she called me, left a voicemail and sent me a text message regarding making arrangements to pay my invoice. She also called and texted my wife that very same afternoon. We both are in healthcare and I had just worked a 12 hour overnight shift and was sleeping during the day, my wife was busy at work as a bedside nurse. We felt very harassed as if we were dealing with a debt collector and felt this was handled unprofessionally. We felt that we should have been allowed at least 24 hours to respond to the email before being bothered with text, phone calls and voicemail messages. We had previously paid an invoice from them the very same day. Paula also requests that payment be made to Vince (not to the company's name) and she requests to pick up the check in person at my house. This is awkward and suspicious as if they are trying to skirt around reporting income to the IRS or something (they claim that they have had multiple instances of checks being lost or ruined in the mail so they pick up the check in person). My wife even discussed our concerns in person with Paula when she came that very night to pick up our check. Paula seemed to think her collection methods are appropriate (they are not).

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
Seriously!!! Here are the facts. We finished the work that we could complete on the 28th of June. There was still more work to be completed but the customer had run out of the custom order materials that we needed to complete the work. The customer was supposed to order more materials and call me when those materials came in so that we could finish the repairs. In the meantime, the carpenter on my crew that was working on their job went on his annual 4th of July holiday, He takes a week off every year at the fourth of July. So the timing seemed good for both the customer and us. I contacted the customer at 6:11pm on Sunday July 10th to confirm availability and continue the work, but I was informed that they had hired someone else to finish the work. There was No thought or Concern for the fact that we had them on our schedule for that week. They just cancelled without notice at the last minute. As they stated in their review, they were happy with the workers and the work that we performed. So I was surprised that they just changed horses in the middle of the job without notice. I did not question them or get ugly with them, I thanked them for what we were allowed to do and let them know that my wife would send them the invoice and they would be contacted to arrange for collection of the check. There was No Reason for them to get so upset over collecting a check for the work that was completed two weeks earlier. It was rude, insulting and slanderous to make the kind of comments and accusations that these folks have made. Is it strange that we would ask to pick up a check after the job was cancelled without notice and no complaints were made? Besides that, we are a small family operation and we pick up ALL large checks when possible to avoid issues that we have dealt with now for the past two years. Most people are aware of the light rail system going through the University area on N. Tryon and that is the area where our mail gets delivered to. We have had missing mail, mangled and torn mail, and mail regularly delivered to other businesses in the same building. So yes, we prefer to pick up All large checks to avoid issues that result from checks that arrive later than expected or Never get to us. Am I now to be suspected of being a criminal for being cautious under those circumstances? As for collecting the check that same day, it was not demanded that they pay immediately. They were simply contacted as agreed upon to make payment arrangements. All they had to do was write a check and place it under a mat where it could be picked up without bothering them, or if they prefer, let us know when a convenient time would be for us to pick up the check directly. Are we now bad people for requesting payment for the work that we completed and they approved at their home? I cannot understand their over-reaction and being so annoyed. Their accusations are simply inexcusable and border on libel. I am The Bizzzy Bee and yes, checks can be made out to me or The Bizzzy Bee. I have no preference; some people like to make them to me, and some to The Bizzzy Bee. To accuse me of tax fraud on a public forum is slanderous and I am surprised that Angie’s List would allow these rude people to make such comments. I know that Angie’s List audits the reviews for inappropriate content. This accusation has nothing to do with the work that we performed and has no business being allowed to be made. For the record we have recently been through a major audit and passed just fine because we are honest and pay our taxes. I am not sure why this customer chose to go another direction with their work, but getting ugly in this fashion over paying the bill is uncalled for and ridiculous. They made it clear that they were happy with the workers and the work and that their only complaint was the way that we collect for services. Is it too much to ask that they be thankful and pay the bill without all this rudeness drama? I am a father of 6 and a grandfather of 8 and in all of my years I have never acted this way when it came time to pay for services that I have requested. In fact, I regularly thank and tip the men who do a good job for me on those items that I cannot do for myself. If you need an honest, hardworking and quality minded company to assist you with your needs, we are the company that you are looking for and we look forward to the opportunity. Vince Curcio, The Bizzzy Bee.

Unfortunately for me, I live over the border in South Carolina and Vince's service area only covers North Carolina. Despite knowing that he couldn't service my needs, Vince still went out of his way to help me out. I would have enjoyed working with him - just chose the wrong state to live in. I highly recommend reaching out to Vince at Bizzzy Bee if you are a North Carolina resident !!

I was thoroughly impressed by this company. Vince was extremely responsive, got in touch via email and text right after my inquiry via Angieslist.com. I had thought I needed an estimate visit first, but Vince explained that due to their busy schedule, it was better to schedule the actual appointment depending on the work to be done. I had two separate guys visit the house. One was an electrician to install a new ceiling fan. The guy showed up on time, did the work efficiently, and took care to put the old fan in the trash bin. The other was a carpenter who could also handle handyman work, T.R. Very personable and capable guy, created and installed an apron to support a granite countertop overhang on wood column, plus installed a bulletin board in my daughter's bedroom and a flagpole base on a brick wall. He had all the tools to do the work, and had to do a brief run to Lowe's for wood/brackets for the countertop work. Prices explained up front, and estimated time etc. was on track. I would totally hire Bizzzy Bee again.
Description of Work: I hired Bizzzy Bee to do one somewhat complicated carpentry job, some handyman jobs, and an electrical job (replace a ceiling fan).

I purchased the offer for 4 man hours of labor for $180 for what I considered to be fairly basic "handymen" type repairs - installing new towel bars in bathrooms and hanging some paintings and mirrors - maybe two of which were a little heavier than normal, but absolutely manageable by two people. All of the hardware for the bathroom was the same so it should have been pretty easy to complete the first bath and copy/paste in the others. Bottom line, the two "handymen" were pretty slow in my opinion and their skill level of hanging the various items was poor - my husband could have done a much better job by himself and not left pencil marks (not just a dot or an 'x', but lines over 6 inches long) all over my newly painted walls and in some cases multiple for the same mirror where they messed up. They used tape to help them mark the lines, which when removed pulled up some of the wall paint. I gave them some touch up paint, but that of course only added to the overall time as they waited for paint to dry. One guy was clearly instructing the other how to do things so I did not feel he was very skilled. I purchased the wall anchors for the mirrors and paintings and they ended up taking the remainder of the box with them when they left. As some others wrote in their review, I'm sure the quality of the work is dependent on which guys arrive at your house. I felt like I got the "B" or "C" team. Based on my experience with this simple job I would not use Bizzzy Bee again, and certainly not for anything more complicated. Scheduling was fine and they were not overly late, but the cost to quality ratio was way out of line. And the resulting "clean up" I have to do to my walls after their visit, was not worth it.

Response from Vince Curcio - The Bizzzy Bee
I pulled up our notes on this job and here are the actual facts. The men had 2 large mirrors that required two people each to install; 8 pictures of varying sizes, 4 towel bars, 2 towel hooks and painted one wall which took them a total of 6.5 man hours (3.25 hours x 2 men) to complete. I do not consider their time excessive or unreasonable. If I remove 1.25 hours for setting up and re-painting the wall that should not have peeled and 0.25 hours for the paperwork that had to be completed; that leaves 5 hours of labor to install 16 items which comes out to 18 minutes per item. Some items took less time, some items took more, but 18 minutes per item was the average time. That would include, determining the location, measuring and marking the location, doing the installation and then cleaning up any marks or debris from that items installation. A customer’s opinion of how long a job should take is not always reasonable or accurate because it depends on whether they have a proper understanding of what it takes to do the job. There are many times when we have people tell us they think it’s a 5 minute repair. But they do not factor the time that it takes to assess the repair, get materials (if necessary), break out the tools needed, perform the repair, clean up any debris, put away the tools used and do the paperwork. Hardly a 5 minute process, but in their mind it starts with just performing that one function and nothing else. Additionally, my men did not leave a bunch of marks all over the walls, all visible marks were removed; and there were no 6” lines made to hang their pictures; they use small x’s and painters tape. As for the wall that needed to be re-painted; that had nothing to do with incompetence but a bad paint job that had just been completed a few days earlier by a different company. When the paint peels from the removal of painter’s tape that was used as a marker on a wall, that is not our responsibility nor is it our fault. The only way that painter’s tape peels paint after being on the wall for only a few minutes, is if the person who painted the wall did not properly clean or prime that wall prior to painting it (which means that the paint did not bond to the wall). To hold us responsible for such an occurrence is due to a lack of understanding on the part of the individual who feels that we should be held responsible. The box of wall anchors that went missing was not taken by my men. We do not carry them on the truck because there are dozens of different types and a huge assortment of sizes and they have to properly match the item being installed and the wall surface that the item is being mounted on. Therefore we do not have room enough to carry the large varieties required, so we get them as we need them after we have assessed the job. The anchors in question were left on top of one of the many unpacked boxes in the foyer area. It has probably been put somewhere out of sight during the unpacking process and now because they cannot find them, we are being held responsible for this box of anchors. We would not know if they had other workers coming and going, however, we definitely know that we did not take their anchors. The bottom line is that “NO”, they did not get the “B” or “C” rate team or experience as they have claimed. Sadly for us, this customer has not accurately examined the facts to give a reasonable and honest assessment. We are a hard-working, quality-minded and honest company, and our consistent track record proves that to be so. We stand ready to assist anyone and everyone who needs our service. Vince Curcio, The Bizzzy Bee.

This was a big deal purchase. It did not turn out too good. The handyman service was for four hours which I thought was ample time to do what I wanted done. I thought the jobs were simple, in fact I had a longer list and they did not really get all those done. I had to keep them for a couple of hours more to change the fan. The quality of work was not great and the speed at which it was done was exceptionally slow. There were so many complaints coming from them on the fan that I finally told them to not worry about it and that I would take care of it. After I said that he did hang it. I think the fellow was not feeling good or had an injury or something like that. He was a nice guy so certainly this is nothing personal. We had nice conversations, he just wasn't very good at what he did. It was quite a disappointment. I think I paid twice as much to get very little done. They got right back with me when they were coming to do it. The time they were supposed to be here they called me about five minutes before and told me they were stuck in traffic and would be 45 minutes to an hour late. After calling me he got here when he said he would, but it was an hour late.
Description of Work: I used him for four hours of handyman service. I wanted them to hang a new ceiling fan where one was before and to put some thresh holds in that I had already bought. I also wanted them to do hinge repair and that kind of thing.

I called this company at the last minute requesting a same-day appointment to have loose vinyl siding reattached and bulbs replaced in a flood light on the 2nd story. Not only was the owner (Vince) very accommodating and managed to fit us into their schedule but he also had his crew call to confirm the appointment and estimated arrival time. I did not have the bulbs needed for the floodlight but the guys made a stop at Lowe's and purchased the bulbs before arriving. After showing up, they worked quickly to complete everything and even explained what caused the issues with the vinyl siding and what could be done to address it. This was not explained previously by another company that worked on this issue before. The crew was very knowledgeable, professional, prompt, and pleasant! Vince even followed-up afterwards to ensure we were satisfied with the work that was done. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. We highly recommend them and will definitely call them for future handyman needs!

Vince came out and took a look at the fan my brother had purchased to place in the attic entrance to help suck the air out of the garage into the roof and out of the soffit vents. He was able to place it so that if anyone needs to gain entrance to the attic, they would just need to unscrew a couple of screws and slide the fan over. It looks great and so far it doing a great job at keeping the heat out. Thanks Vince for doing an excellent job!!!!!! If I am in need of a Handyman again, you will be the person that I call!!

Vince contacted me quickly and was anxious to meet my time frame. There was some confusion initially. We set a tentative work date and then no one called to verify. A person was scheduled to come that day, but got in an accident and ended up in the ER. We did get re-scheduled and Brian did an excellent job. I asked about a hand rail for later, but he pointed out that it would be cheaper to do now and easier to stabilize the rail. He did the design and I am very pleased. Brian had bought the materials for the shelving, but was not able to complete the job the first day. He came back as agreed and not only hung the shelves, but placed the materials I wanted on them neatly. He thought of things I had not and the work looks good. We had some discussion regarding the final bill, but it was resolved to my satisfaction. Very satisfied overall.

I called The Bizzzy Bee to request an estimate on some interior repairs to my home. Unfortunately, it took Mr. Curcio a full two weeks to return my call. Bizzzy Bee had performed the same type of work at my home a few years ago as a subcontractor for Direct TV and I was pleased with the end result. Mr. Curcio finally did contact me and set up an appointment to come by and give me an estimate on the work requested. He came by as promised and took several photos of the damage and asked me about some other items that he had noticed as he entered my house. I received an email from him the following day stating that he was "declining the opportunity" because he had become inundated with other jobs that had come in. He stated that he could not take on a project of that size. That left me more than a little disappointed in the fact that I pretty much wasted two weeks of my time waiting to be told that he couldn't handle that job. One of the deciding factors in including Mr. Curcio's company in the estimate process was his high rating on Angie's List. Guess you can't judge all books by their covers. I'll be looking through Angie's List for another candidate and hopefully I can find one who can deliver on what they advertise. Larry Monroe

Contractor was professional, got the fans installed. One has a loud hum that he could not get rid of. It may be a product defect. work took longer than was planned but the majority of work was completed. Have used Bizzy Bee before and will continue to contact them for handyman work.
Description of Work: Installed three ceiling fans, changed out multiple light switches and electrical sockets.
