I've never had a contractor pay more attention to finishing the punch list. There subs were efficient and courteous.

We purchased a historic home in dilworth and had Peter (Vasseur owner and contractor) look at the house from the beginning. We did a full inspection on the home and had his engineer come look before we purchased. Following purchase Craig (lead designer) and Peter designed the remodel, addition, garage, and face-lift from scratch. They did all the drawing and design and then had this all put in autocad for blueprints and 3d images. They handled the entire historic approval as well and sailed through without issue. This is something we watched many other contractors struggle with. They started the project promptly and worked diligently throughout the build. Addressed issues with rapid response and attention to detail. Never tried to trick us into change orders or up charges and in fact both peter and craig work hard to keep you on budget. We were faced with many challenges with weather and drainage issues but peter handled them perfectly and under budget. We couldn't be any happier with the final design and build of our home and with the great relationship we still have with Peter and Craig. This is a true design to build firm and they do it all. They make the process fun and easy. We were quite intimidated with picking out all the details but with Craig is was so easy!. In my mind this is the only builder to use and best to use as design/drawing as well.

Description of Work: From start to finish there are not enough accolades I can include to praise Peter and his outstanding team, helping to transform our 40 year old 2,000 square foot ranch into a 4000+ updated estate with all of the trimmings. If you are in the market for a custom yet timeless design that incorporates modern amenities look no further. Peter was recommended by very close friends well over 16 months prior to the completion of our renovation project. He and Craig (who's sketches make it easy to bring ideas to life and is a top shelf designer) poured their hearts and souls into our project. No surprises along the journey. Their attention to details, thoughtful planning, and a incredible imagination made for an exciting and wonderful experience. We received the highest level of customer service. My insurance agent summed it up perfectly at the end of the renovation with his "Wow" comment during his coverage review. He could not believe the transformation since his walk through pre renovation. We could not be happier.
They did a good job. They were very professional and very knowledgeable. We're not sure if we're going to use them but based on our interaction so far, we would use them.

Very professional and honest. Great eye for design and structural assessment. Planning to use Vasseur for future renovation.
Description of Work: Home inspection and design ideas for renovation.
Working with Vasseur Home Design was and is a wonderful experience. These guys spent a significant amount of time listening to us and helping us figure out what needed to be done now to help improve the house on a budget. They are outstanding listeners, and they are giving of their time even for a relatively small job like ours. They had the best bid (we looked at 3 reputable contractors), and we had a chance to see several other jobs that they had done in nearby Elizabeth (which was stunning, by the way). Over about a month, Craig worked with us closely to identify priorities and help us stay in our budget. He went with us to pick out materials, guided us in some of the work we did ourselves, and did all the work while we were away for 2 weeks in the summer. The evening we got home from our trip, the house had been utterly transformed. Everything was ready to use, everything was cleaned up, and Craig and Peter had placed a vase of sunflowers on the dining room table. Even after that, however, they have remained accessible to discuss our projects, even if they are not doing more work. Right now, they are helping us renovate a small bathroom. They pay attention to helping us update the house while retaining accents that are characteristic of the neighborhood and the period that it was built. They helped us solve problems and learn how to care for our new surfaces. I just can't say enough about these guys. They took our smallish project and made us feel as important as the big jobs we knew they were doing elsewhere in the city. They know when to listen and when to urge us in a new direction. They are brilliant designers, have flexible minds, and made us very, very happy.
Description of Work: We own a mid-century ranch home in the Commonwealth neighborhood in Charlotte. We have long-term renovation and addition plans for the home, but we wanted to improve the existing home as the first step in our renovation. We had flooring removed and some of the duct work moved around to accommodate a new furniture arrangement, and hardwood floors placed in the room. We also replaced a horribly outdated (and poorly functioning) countertop and backsplash, installed a new sink in the kitchen, installed new and grounded outlets, designed and installed a new lighting scheme in the kitchen and living room (and in several closets), built a butcher-block island in the kitchen with a space-saving drop-leaf design, beautifully opened up the kitchen to the dining area, chose and installed a new front door, and built a storage system for coats, boots and outerwear.

The owner is Peter Vasseur. They did an excellent job. He has integrity and is very thorough. He was on or below budget. They were very good at turning out what we wanted into reality.
Description of Work: We used Vasseur Home Designs to do a whole home renovation. It basically went from 1300 square feet to 3700 square feet. They did everything with it and basically built us a brand new house.
