Valentine Painting

It's hard for me to overstate how happy I was with the job Valentine Painting & Decorating did. My house was very faded, and in need of a lot of outside repainting. From beginning to end, it was a pleasure dealing with Jim Valentine and his crew. He is extremely professional, and thoroughly explained everything they would do to the house, inside and out. He is very detail-oriented and precise. It's clear he also hires painters who are similarly excellent at what they do--I feel like I am in an entirely new house! Jim worked with me to help me choose colors. Though I kept the same exterior color, he pointed out that matching the trim (which was white) to the porch pillars (which were off white) would make the house more striking. I had never even noticed that differential--and when the painting was done, I was amazed to see how good it looked. He also helped me choose a hallway color--I thought I had to keep the hallway a neutral, but he suggested I take the already rich color I had in the adjoining living room into the hallway. I had not thought of that--and I am so happy with the results. He clearly tries to get a sense of his customer's taste and preferences in guiding them with color selection. A job that we estimated might take five days ended up taking 3.5. That is partly because we had great weather---but the crew worked nonstop. They are professional, friendly, quiet, and clearly know what they are doing. My house is very close to my neighbors' houses, yet the crew worked in a way that never impinged on either side of me. They cleaned up thoroughly after they finished, and were just great. Jim also stayed in communication with me throughout the process. I will absolutely use Valentine Painting again. I also want to say that although the estimate for the work was decidedly higher than others I got, I absolutely feel I got what I paid for: extreme professionalism, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and great care. So I think you actually get excellent value with Valentine Painting. As they say--you get what you pay for, and here I am very, very happy with what I got.

Valentine Painting did an excellent job. Jim came out promptly for the estimate, and was very professional and easy to talk with. He fit the job into his schedule as quickly as possible, which was greatly appreciated. He helped me picked the color for the walls, which had been a very difficult chore. It turned out to be the perfect color. The painters were prompt and courteous, and cleaned everything up when the job was completed. The bathroom looks lovely, and I will definitely use Valentine again!

The entire process with Valentine Painting went EXTREMELY WELL! Jim and his crew are true professionals. The crew was on time, polite & took great attention to detail. They prepped the area by diligently covering every surface and taping where needed. We needed them to repair our ceiling after a HVAC worker partially went through our vaulted ceiling. They did an outstanding job with the dry wall repair, the hole is totally undetectable, and were perfectionists with their painting job of our entire ceiling. If you are looking for quality painters, call Valentine Painting...you won't be disappointed!

Excellent. The team arrived right on time everyday. They were very efficient and neat. They were so quiet that we hardly knew they were working and we had the entire interior painted! They kept to their schedule which made our daily planning easy during the work. The quality of their work was outstanding. We would use them again and not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

Everything went smooth as silk. Jim's team were very professional, prompt and courteous. Did entire job in just 4 day and it looks fantastic. Jim recommended the shade of paint used and we could not be happier with it. If need painting done in our new home, we will be calling back for sure!

In a word: Excellent. Jim's men showed up on time and were very professional. They double checked with me to make sure what I wanted painted, started taping the area, and set about their work. In a few hours, they came to get me and let me know that they were finished. I inspected the work and was completely satisfied. A few days later, Jim Valentine, the owner came by to collect the balance of the payment and to inspect the work himself. It was a great experience and they will certainly be the first ones on my list to call for any other painting needs.

These painters are the absolute best I have ever worked with ! They were a little bit more expensive than the other quotes but after meeting with Jim Valentine, the owner, and discussing everything I wanted to have done to our new house, I knew he was the one to go with. The house is approx.18 yrs old and needed a lot of careful attention. The great room has 13' ceilings with heavy crown molding that needed a lot of caulking. He had 2 wonderful Mexican painters working here for 7 or 8 days. They were the neatest painters I have ever seen. They arrived before 8 am and waited until 8 to ring the doorbell. They were quiet and very respectful of our things (most was still in boxes that they had to keep moving from room to room since they started 2 days after we moved in). They cleaned up every afternoon before they left. They even worked on Saturday. In all, they painted approx. 2000 sq ft plus the ceilings. We will have them here again later in the year to paint the 3 remaining rooms and do some exterior work, as well.

Jim was great. I had met him before for a job that I didn't end up using him for (wish I did), but he gave me a fair quote on a Wednesday afternoon, and he had a crew at my house by 8am the very next morning. His team was professional and got the job completely done in about 9 hours. I most definitely be using Valentine's again in the very near future. Thanks!! Mike

When I contacted the company they informed me that they generally don't do work in my area (I am in N. Charlotte near Harrisburg) and they do most of their work in the Ballantyne area. Also, they prefer to do large jobs (I only had 4 rooms that needed to be painted) and they were very busy. Even so, they did come out and do an estimate. The price was not the lowest bid I received; however, I was fine with it because I believe Valentine does quality work and that is worth paying for. I also felt they were truly professional painters. I am writing this review to explain why I didn't chose them when they were actually my first choice of painters. I felt like I was not their target customer and, while they were willing to do the work, they didn't really want or need my business. I did not want to be an inconvenience to them. Every customer / service provider pairing is not a match and in this case I decided to go with someone who really needed my business. I am sure Valentine would have done a great job and would have been up to my standards, but through the whole experience I would not have felt comfortable.

Jim Valentine was very easy to work with and provided all costs up front. There were no surprises. He offered expert advice and never tried to "up sell". He was honest and forthright which is what I always look for in a contractor. There are plenty of companies out there who advertise cheap prices for this kind of work, but we prioritized quality and we feel that is exactly what we got from Jim and his crew. We went away for the weekend so we had a narrow window where we wanted the work done. Jim kept his promise of the start date and finish date which was very much appreciated. We are extremely happy with how everything turned out. We had numerous nail pops and dry wall repairs that had to be done and they did a fantastic job of addressing all of these issues. The house looks great and we highly recommend Valentine Painting & Decorating to anyone looking to have this kind of work done.

I was very pleased with Valentine Painting. I worked with Jim. He came out to do an estimate and talked through my paint options. I wanted something that would be easy to maintain and hold up. We agreed on Sherwin Williams paint. I went to the store nearby to pick out colors. The store knew Jim and told me they would give him the colors I picked out. Jim's crew was great. They came on time each day, covered my furniture and light fixtures. they were polite, careful and cleaned up after themselves. The house looked so much better with the new colors. The work was beautiful. They paid attention to detail and left no drips, runs or missed areas. The lines where the wall met the molding were sharp and crisp. I would hire them again without reservation.

We engaged Valentine Painting to freshen up and create a personal touch in a house we had just purchased. We made an initial enquiry via Angies List and Kelly Valentine was very responsive to our request scheduling a time for us to meet on site with Jim. We met with Jim a few days later - he inspected the house with us and provided some great feedback on our ideas for the interior work. As promised, he followed up with a detailed estimate in a timely fashion. Once we agreed to move forward with the work, Jim was flexible in arranging a time for the team to start. Due to issues with the closing process, we were delayed by 2 weeks, but Jim was able to work with our schedule and adjust plans to meet our needs. On the day the work started, the team leader (Oscar) arrived on time at 8am as agreed with Jim and he walked through the house with us getting a full undedrstanding of what we wanted done, the colors we had selected and some special features such as striped walls in a portion of the master suite and one of the bathrooms. With that confirmed the team wasted no time and got straight to work. The team worked for 6 days, arriving at 8am and wrapping up at around 7pm. I was amazed at how quickly they progressed and the quality of the preparation and finish. They took particular care to sheet off rooms they were working in to minimize dust in the rest of the house, as well as cleaning up thoroughly after they had finished. I am very impressed with the results and the attention to detail. Oscar and his team of painters were absolute professionals and Jim was incredibly helpful in making sure our schedule could be accommodated and that the quality of the final result met his very high expectations. We will be using the team to repaint our deck area after some landscaping work is completed in the next month or so. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone who expects quality work at a reasonable price.

It was my first time using them. My overall experience was excellent. They just went over and above to make sure that I was happy. You get what you paid for. They were very responsive. I would absolutely use them in the future.

When I made a decision to use Valentine Painting in December the owner Jim fully set my expectations about the next steps, timeframe and he ensured that the work order met my needs. Jim's team did not cut corners and they worked with me in picking the color (by painting multiple samples, etc.). After some trial and error finalizing my paint color choice, I must say that I was extremely pleased with the way the house turned out. The result actually exceeded my expectations in terms of quality (it looks like a whole new house) and I cannot be happier with my decision to use Valentine Painting. Highly, highly recommend.

Jim and his crew did an A++ job on my home at a very reasonable price. From beginning to end of the project, Jim was a total professional. His crew was punctual and did an outstanding job in terms of quality of work. It was a large scope which included painting rooms with 20 foot high walls. They also removed wallpaper from 3 different areas, patched and painted drywall so it looked brand new and painted ceilings. His price was under what others had quoted and did not change from what he included in his initial price quote. I would highly recommend Valentine Painting to anyone looking for a residential painter. It was a very positive experience and I will definitely use them again in future.

We were near the end of a long kitchen remodel "gone wrong" and trying to get things done before Christmas parties, etc. Jim was able to come quickly to give an estimate and we were even able to get a discount, thanks to Angie's List. He was very friendly and worked with us to try and find a time to get the job done before my party (December 1st). Because we were flexible, and due to weather conditions for other projects, they were able to complete the job even earlier than scheduled and they did a terrific job. Very professional. They were very careful to protect our new cabinets, etc. and made all necessary repairs to the walls prior to painting. They provided one of the best experiences we have had during this remodeling project! Will definitely use them again for another project!

BEST PAINT JOB WE'VE EVER HAD!! Jim and his crew are real pros- they were punctual and reliable. The job is wonderful- I would recommend them to anyone who wants a HIGH QUALITY job.

Jim came out and talked to us about what our goals were with the painting, colors we had in mind, etc. He gave us a lot of great advise based on his years of experience. He used his tablet to take video/pictures of everything, especially problem areas so he could give a very accurate estimate and plan thoroughly for the job. We're preparing our house to put on the market. We gutted our kitchen and there were areas on the floor and ceiling that had to be repaired. Jim's people did a perfect job. You couldn't tell there had ever been a problem. The also built a box around the stove exhaust pipe. I became a bit anxious during the project (because of other things, not Jim or his crew) and he was able to reassure me that everything was going to work out. And it did! The crew worked long days and cleaned up before leaving each evening. They moved furniture, covered everything including all floors and took great care of our recently refinished hardwoods. They were courteous and professional through the entire project which took 8-10 days for the inside and out. We will likely need painting done at our new house and will be calling on Valentine Painting!

Jims crew refinished our front double doors. After consulting with him last spring regarding the proper treatment for the problem we had with the doors, we decided to invest in renewing the door. His crew paid attention to detail, were efficient but at the same time took their time to be sure the job was completed correctly. The doors receive direct south sun and the finish had degraded. They carefully removed old finish, sanded, stained, and resealed the wood doors and door frame. We are very pleased with the result and are hopeful the doors will look great for many years to come.

They did an excellent job. The only thing that concerned me when they were actually doing the job is that when they painted my stairwell, they didn’t use a scaffolder. They just balance the ladder on the stairs and did their work where it was out of reach. They just had an extra guy hold one leg and the ladder. It made me worried about potential liability if one of them fell and got hurt. I’m not 100% convince that they did it in a safest available fashion. I contacted three or four painters, only one returned my call and that is Valentine. They were slow in getting back to me initially but they did have a decent explanation.

Our initial consult with Jim was very satisfactory. We had just gone through major renovation work in our home, and Jim was the last part of this process. Our entire experience with all service providers, up until Jim, were of the highest quality. Jim acknowledged that his crew would continue with this theme of superior workmanship. He did not disappoint. This was a 9 day job. Oscar and his crew members Ruben, Joel, and Javier were professional, thorough, respectful of our home, dependable, and kept a very neat work space. Their prep work was given the full attention to detail. I have nothing but praise to say about Valentine Painting. Jim came by half way through the job and again on the last day to do a walk-through and address any final items. Jim's focus and concern for considering all factors of the job's requirements were consistent from the day of our first contact throughout the 9 days of labor intensive work.
