Valentine Painting

Our experience with Valentine Painting was nothing but amazing, from start to finish! We met with three different owners from three different companies, but Jim Valentine clearly stood above the others. He was very punctual, personable and knowledgeable, and was the only one to give us an on-the-spot estimate. We needed the exterior of our house painted, as well as the detached garage. We wanted to get our front porch re-stained, but Jim talked us out of doing the whole porch, and instead only treat the entry steps that were more worn. He spent several hours with us that first day going over all the details of our job, matching colors, scheduling, etc.. We had requested a specific start date, and he was kind enough to be able to make that happen, which we really appreciated. They came on a Saturday to power-wash everything first, then began work the following Monday, as planned. Weather cooperated beautifully, so the crew was able to finish in four full days. They spent a full day prepping, which included covering and taping windows, caulking, and repairing/replacing damaged wood. It took about a day and a half to spray paint the house and garage, and about two full days to paint trim/doors, most of which, was by hand. Admittedly, I was very nervous about hiring someone to do this work, because I have always done all the painting myself. I'm very picky and critical, and was worried I just wouldn't be happy. But I don't do tall ladders, so leaving it to the professionals was our only option. And I'm so very glad we did! The crew was always on time, polite, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each work day. It was obvious that they are held accountable to high standards, as they were very meticulous in their work. Jim came back to inspect the crews' work on the last day. Any imperfections he saw were relayed to the crew and were touched up on the spot. I will also add, that, even though Valentine Painting wasn't our cheapest option, they were definitely our BEST option! Thirty years of expertise in the business, the use of high-quality paint, and a talented crew comes at a price. For us, it was worth every penny!

We had excellent service from Valentine's Painting. Jim Valentine was first to respond to our request for quotes, and was both personable and professional. The work was done promptly and we couldn't be happier with the results. His crew was courteous and careful, and the paint was top-of-the-line Sherwin Williams, which was included in the price. The prep and cleanup was excellent. In the end, you get what you pay for. We would definitely hire Jim again!

This is the third time we have used Valentine Painting. At our old house, they painted our kitchen island and added bead board under the bar as well as adding crown molding to our master bedroom and bathroom. When we bought our new house, we wanted the entire house painted before we moved in. They did such a great job at our old house that we immediately knew we would use them. While they are not the cheapest painter, they do an absolutely wonderful job. You get what you pay for and with Valentine Painting, you get exceptional work, professionalism, punctuality, and cleanliness. Also, they came back out twice for touch ups after the job was done free of charge. Couldn't be more pleased with the project and work done. Will definitely use again for future painting needs and have highly recommended to all we know.

I was amazed at how knowledgeable and skilled the painters were. They did an outstanding job of prepping the ceiling, walls, and trim. They covered everything completely and put coverings on the walking areas to each room. The ceiling repairs look so much better than before. Two coats of paint were apllied to each area. The cleanup was better than I expected. And the painters did their own touch-ups so I could not find any areas that needed work. I was so impressed with this company and plan to use them again for others areas of the house. You won't regret hiring these people!

Jim was very responsive and incredibly thorough in his estimate. His price was fair and he included more details than other quotes. The crew was on a tight timeline, and they arrived promptly on the first day. It was nice to do a walk through with the crew lead - he let me change a paint color, and was very friendly. Jim stopped by on the first day to check on the progress. The crew worked diligently to finish out the work. They were respectful and tidy, and stuck around for Jim’s final walk-through. Jim caught details that we wouldn’t have noticed, and they were quickly corrected before the crew finished the project. Great work - will use again!

They did an extraordinary job with regard to professionalism, punctuality, quality and clean-up.

Jim was very professional and polite and responsive. He and his team were quick to answer any questions thoroughly and promptly. I felt that the prep work that the team did on the original, 1930 wood siding will help to prolong the job and I was extremely pleased with how neat and tidy the job was executed (no drips, runs, or spills - all straight lines and corners). The job was scheduled a month out, but was definitely worth the wait and will use Valentine again when time to repaint the interior of my home. Highly recommend if owner is willing to pay full, market rate for what turned out to be an excellent job.

Jim was excellent to deal with was helpful in deciding color choice and other suggestions so house would sell quickly - and it did.

Great, as usual. This is not the first time I’ve used Valentine Painting. Jim is very detail-oriented and makes sure the work is completed to the highest standard. I would wholeheartedly recommend!

We obtained four quotes and Jim's was in the middle. We ultimately decided to go with him because he felt the most genuine, spent the most time walking around the house identifying potential carpentry issues, and was using the highest quality paint. The reason Jim identified more issues than others is due to the fact that he took the time to look behind bushes/trees. We had A LOT of overgrown bushes and trees that we were in the process of removing/replacing, and Jim was the only one who got back behind the bushes (so he identified and quoted the issues up front vs. increasing our bill on the back end). He was very thorough/detailed in his estimate. His guys were very professional and friendly. They were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am each morning and actually arrived at 7:45 am every morning and waited to ring the doorbell at 8:00 am. They cleaned up every day before they left, and gave me an update on where they stood (the whole process took 5 days for pressure washing/carpentry work/painting two coats). Once the process was finished, Jim performed his final inspection. He was as detailed in his final inspection as he was in his estimate. I highly recommend Jim and will absolutely use him again as future projects come up.

Until now, we've never had any luck finding painters that are dependable and knowledgeable. Many only provide the labor: they can use a brush but have no expertise and are unable (or unwilling) to guide you on the proper prepping and materials needed to do the job correctly. Others are undependable: they constantly delay the start date, don't show up when schedule, don't return to fix mistakes, etc. Jim Valentine, the owner of Valentine Painting, was professional and promptly answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable about the proper materials and work needed to do the job properly. This was a big job and I wanted to make sure it was done right so it would last. I was concerned because some of the wood on the siding and deck was recently replaced while the rest was old. He guided me on all the different type of stains and paints needed to properly protect the exterior: the cedar siding on the house used one type of stain, gutters and garage doors needed a paint for metals, the foundation needed a paint for cement, the window trim, fence and shutters used other paints and the deck, porch and walkway areas needed yet a different type of stain. Although Jim was more expensive than some of the other bids, I felt I was paying for the expertise. Valentine's price was higher than the small companies/individual painters. However, many of those bids did not include the paint/stain in the quote and they said they "would do whatever prepping treatment I wanted" and would "paint with whatever I picked out." If I was a paint expert, that might have been fine. But I am not! Conversely, Valentine's price was slightly lower than the quote I received from one of the national, franchise paint companies and Jim was much more responsive. The paint crew (Noah, Elmer and Jennifer) did a great job and were pleasant to work with. Noah (the foreman) seemed to be genuinely concerned that the work was performed to our satisfaction. They completed the job well before my required completion date. In the past, we've put off painting projects because we always dread trying to find someone. Next time, I will call Valentine Painting first.

Valentine painting was very punctual and did a great job on our project. They started the job on the day they promised to begin when it was schedule three weeks prior. They also cleaned up every day. They use top of the line paint. After the job was completed the work was inspected and all minor blemishes that were discovered were corrected.

Very professional, timely and helpful in every respect. Easy to work with, experienced and knowledgeable. They were in and out with no nonsense, leaving a clean work area behind. The base paint and faux work are beautiful. Would hire again, definitely.

Excellent! They did exactly what they promised exactly when they promised it. A truly professional crew arrive on time, worked efficiently as a team, executed the work quickly and in the time frame promised despite my last minute request to change out light fixtures. The place looks GREAT now. This condo is part of a cooperative with many restrictive rules for contractors which has a tendency to drive up prices. Valentine's price was very reasonable and the results were well worth it.

Jim and his team were fantastic to work with. Jim responded quickly to my initial inquiry, worked with me to find a good time to stop by and see what needed to be done, and worked up a quote right away. Jim and the crew arrived promptly, Jim walked through each room with me to verify what was being painted and the colors, and then the crew immediately got to work. They covered, taped, and papered everything, fixed nail holes and imperfections in the walls, and completed the painting in one day with touchups and final inspection on the second day. Jim inspected every inch to ensure that everything was perfect before the crew left. The house looks new again and I could not be happier. I will definitely be contacting Jim for any future projects.

Excellent final product. Interior of our house looks better than when it was new. Jim came over and inspected the house with us when his crew was finished. We couldn’t be happier. You can find cheaper painters, but you won’t find better painters.

It was a pleasure working with Jim Valentine. He took a detailed video of the garage before giving us a quote. His crew was professional and did a good job. There were a few minor touch-ups that were needed after the crew left and they came back and painted until we were completely satisfied.

We received several quotations in August for work to be done in October. Jim Valentine was competitive but not the lowest. Jim comes across as earnest and honest: Jim inspires confidence The painting crew of four completed the job in 12 eight hour days. All four were highly skilled painters who worked hard and who worked as a team. The team leader was exceptionally easy to work with and immediately responsive to any request. The quality of the work is near flawless. Issues, all minor, found during the walk through at the end of the job were corrected immediately. Jim Valentine came by afterward doing a second walk through. He found two very minor issues and corrected them personally. In summary, Jim Valentine sold the job with his openness, honesty, and a competitive price quote. The quote itself was the most detailed we received. The quality of the painting and carpentry work is outstanding. We are very pleased with every aspect of the work by Jim Valentine and his employees from quotation through completion of the job.

This is the second house we've had completely repainted by Valentine Painting. Jim is honest and professional. His standards are very high. I can't find one even tiny issue anywhere with this whole job. His guys are masters of their trade, they keep everything clean and put away everything before they leave each night. We needed a couple of colors matched and that was done perfectly. We couldn't be happier. When we're ready to paint the rest of the exterior we'll be calling Jim Valentine.

Mr. Valentine was willing to give us a quote to submit to the insurance company.
