The Tile Shop

I am still waiting to experience how the customer service is so far, but the parts and prices I can say are Grade A!

I purchased Carrara tile from The Tile Shop in Charlotte, NC. Although I wasn't going to start the DIY project for 4-6 months, the tile we wanted was on sale so we decided to purchase it during the sale. We purchased over the phone using a credit card since we had already been to the store and selected the tile, and only needed to determine the quantity needed. I was encouraged to purchase extra for my convenience since I could always return unused full cartons. A year has passed and I finally finished the project (was not in a hurry), and had 2 full boxes of tile left over. I returned to the store only to be told they had a 6 month limit on returns which I was never informed of. I was told I should have gone onto the website and read it! They also explained that my "receipt" that I had in hand while talking to them was not the real receipt, since it would have all the terms and conditions printed on it. Well, it was the only "receipt' I was given when I went to pick the order up. Perhaps they printed a different receipt after I left? Bottom line is the company's take is that if I purchase something in a retail shop, no matter what a salesman tells me, I should go online to the store website and read all of the T&C's they post. Really??? I provided a low low rating on price because I overpaid for the amount I actually used. Obviously I will not be using them in the future.

We were a bit scared at first because the Tile shop is SO big! But Chris, our sales rep, helped us narrow our choices and find what we really needed. The displays in the store open our minds to combinations we had not imagined and our bath remodel was 100% better for the input. Our tile installer said the white ceramic tile we bought was the best and most uniform he had ever seen.

We bought tile and supplies for replacing a damaged shower and bathroom walls. We visited several other tile stores before we went to the Tile Shop. We didn’t know exactly what we wanted, but we knew that we weren’t seeing it anywhere else. Their selection was much larger than other stores and their hours were convenient. Their staff was knowledgeable. They helped us understand our best options. The Tile Shop will sell individual tiles so you can take them home, see how they will look, and return them. We made several trips over several weeks trying different combinations and returned with more questions. After the job was complete, we had unopened jars of grout mix that we were able to return.

They were out of stock, but promptly ordered, it came in when promised. Would use again.

I have been in this store many times to look at tile and get some ideas on a back splash. Every time I received superior customer service. If you want to just look; they leave you alone to look. If you are ready to purchase, they are right there to help you. I had gone into several other tile stores in Charlotte and I did not receive anywhere near the type of service I received here. I will be back anytime I need tile, granite or marble. Large selection of tile, granite and marble..all with prices clearly displayed (a plus to me!) BTW..beautiful displays guys!

These folks have the best selection of tile in all of Charlotte. We shopped there for two of our bathrooms. The salespeople are amazing. Glen was very patient with us as we looked at virtually every tile in the store during our first visit and helped us find one that was perfect. Katherine handled two follow up visits extremely professionally - one we got there right before closing to pick up something we had already picked out, but there wasn't enough of it. She stayed with us and help us find a great (GREAT) tile that we are very happy with. On another visit she actually handwashed the accent pieces that had some dust on them from construction that they had going on so that we could see the true colors. This went way above and beyond what we were expecting. If you're shopping for tile, make sure you get to this store, it's huge and the staff is exceptional.

The job went very smoothly.. absolutely no problems and got a great result.

My experience with this company wasn't good. I went in there to look for some tile for my backsplash. This guy was helping me out, and he showed me the available tile. We picked out some tile, and he quoted me $800 for the tile alone. I told him that he must have made some mistake, because that price seemed really high, but he repeated that it was the correct price. I ended up going to a competing business and getting the exact same tiles for $150. Either he quoted me the wrong price, or they are outrageously expensive.

She was patient in making sure that I found exactly what I was looking for to match my granite. She was also knowledgeable. I thought they had an excellent selection. They worked with me very well.

The Good: The product was excellent (tile) and the price was a bit high, but this was a high-end product. They did not have enough in stock so they ordered the tile and travertine border for me based on the measurements I had from the tile installation company. The products arrived within 5 days and the process was quick and easy. The woman who helped me was friendly and patient. The Bad: Each visit to the store took at least 10-25 minutes just waiting in line for a sales associate to check me out. I had to go back twice because the amount of travertine (sp?) ordered was not enough (luckily they had some in stock) and then because the Tile Shop sales associate had not sold me enough of the cement etc for that amount of tile. I'm not sure who is at fault on this one - the Tile Shop or the folks installing the tile, but I don't think they were drinking the stuff! Overall, it was a good experience with the exception of the wait time. I would highly recommend to their management that they have at least ONE dedicated staff person to man the register at all times - and that this person is not to leave the register to help folks on the floor. I was in line each time with people who were frustrated and even angry about this issue, so I don't think it was a one-time occurence. My second visit there I only had to grab the liquid mix and then waited for 25 minutes to check out. I even saw two people just put their items on the counter and leave - definitely not what the company should want!

I brought in photos of my kitchen and a cupboard shelve. They assisted me in picking out the perfect tile for my kitchen backsplash and counters and did pretty well with ordering the right amount based on my measurements. An installer was referred that I had a few issues with and The Tile Shop never followed up to see how the job was going. Great for selling tile .. but that was the end of the relationship.

I walked into the store never having done any tile work, the staff (Ginny) was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything I needed to know (pros and cons of various stone tile, ceramic tile and differences within each category), used my measurements to calculate the amount of stone tiles, grout, etc. that I needed for my backsplash and recommended some design options which I liked. It was a lot of work, but after her explanation I felt comfortable doing the work myself and it turned out great.

Wonderful service, outstanding products. We are using DiFabion Remodeling for our bath remodeling. Normally, Difabion sends their customers to a different tile shop which is much more expensive with far less product choice. The Tile Shop has a great showroom that I had visited prior to contracting with DiFabion remodeling, so I requested to use them because the travertine (mojave brushed) is so beautiful I couldn't find anything that compared favorably. The results are outstanding. We worked with Dana who helped with the selections and provided guidance regarding cost considerations and installation. He was patient and knowledgeable throughout.

I've had to go back several times, and send my contractor back there. Exchanging, adding to my order, and selling supplies back to the Tile Shop have all been hassle free. Shawn has been great, but by now I think I've met everybody there, and they are all very responsive.

I purchased all the tile for my kitchen backsplash and walls from The Tile Shop. The following year I purchased the tile for my master bath. On both projects the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They were even very patient when I changed my mind, returned an entire order and bought a different pattern.

I can't say enough! Myra has been fantastic. They been great when great when we have needed to make exchanges and answering all our question. I definitely will use them again and recommend them to all.

Excellent experience, due to Mark Schlensker. He is an experienced tile contractor and is very knowledgeable in installation, in addition to having a good eye for design and color. This store has an amazing selection of ceramic, granite, marble, and slate tiles with coordinated detail pieces, and there is a huge variety of displays to help you choose. Our combination of ceramic shower with slate and quartz accents, and a multi-colored slate floor has turned out to be the highlight of our home. With Mark's help we were able to form and pour a custom-fit concrete shower floor tiled in slate; install ceramic shower walls that included two recesses and a seat, and use accents from the floor to the ceiling that tied it all together beautifully. Mark was very patient in answering our many questions and showing us many styles and materials to help us narrow down what we wanted. His suggestions turned out to be perfect, and he showed us ways to use trim pieces and color to give the room a 'wow' factor. He helped us through several difficult areas in the installation, and he knew tricks of installation that only experience can teach. His ordering was thorough, and the timing of delivery was exactly as promised. This is an excellent store if you want to go beyond the usual do-it-yourself home stores with a narrow product line and little assistance, and instead end up with a unique and beautiful project with all the backup you need to get the job done right. They get an A+ from us, and we definitely will use them again. Be sure to ask for Mark!

Can't say enough good things about the tile shop, especially mark, who gave excellent advice.

Mayra, the sales person, could not have been more helpful. We were having a hard time deciding what we wanted, and she handled our indecisiveness and numerous questions very well. She told us that there was going to be a really good sale in a few weeks, and true to her word, an invitation to the sale arrived in our mail. That saved us hundreds of dollars. She placed several different orders for us until we got everything just right and was always patient and helpful. The installation was done by another contractor we found on Angie's List and the finished job is just beautiful. We are doing the kitchen next and will definitely be going back to see Mayra. Superb customer service!

The entire experience went extremely well and I will be returning to The Tile Shop to see Melanie whenever I remodel my kitchen and my other bathroom. They are more expensive than home centers but their product is of much higher quality and the assistance you receive is second to none. Worth the couple bucks more.

Dana walked all around the show room with us. He was very helpful. They have so much beautiful tile.
