THE BLADE DOCTOR

Our lawnmover began to have problems at the end of last year, and our old service location was no longer in business. We called Scott and arranged for him to come by and take a look at it. He replaced fuel lines, fixed carburetors, replaced spark plugs, sharpened blades....very thorough and determined to fix the problem, rather than just patch it. He was on time (actually a little early!), great with communication, and absolutely one of the jewels of Angie's List. His rates are ridiculously reasonable, and if you have to wait a week for an appointment, it is well worth it. He is definitely on our "keepers" list.

I found Scott from reading the reviews here and gave him a call. He was prompt, very personable, and knows what he's doing. I was happy that he offered on site services. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him.

Within 15mins he had the mower running. He spent and hour 1/2 ensuring everything was adjusted correctly for use. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He does the work as a part time effort. He is a delight to have for service. He is reliable and very reasonable in price. I would recommend him to anyone having a need for small engine repair.

The overall experience was very positive and would use him again. We would also recommend him to others.

Excellent service and great value. After calling a few small engine repair shops, I did a search and found "The Blade Doctor." The reviews were glowing and the price seemed reasonable. Scott returned my call and scheduled an appointment within a few days. He showed up as scheduled, identified the issue and completed the repair in less than 30 minutes. I am telling all my friends and would not hesitate to call Scott again in the future.

Scott was able to set up an appointment for the upcoming weekend. He was on time and performed the maintenance requested. He was friendly and well organized. Sometimes you just talk to a person and feel that they are going to do the work right the first time and at a fair price. That was Scott. He was able to come to the house and do all the work for an amount less than other quotes I received to just to pick up my mower to take to their shop; not including parts and labor and the two week turnaround.

It seems like there was something wrong with the lawnmower, and I don’t remember exactly what it was or if he worked on it. He was professional and showed up on time. I would rate him highly. I would definitely use him again in the future if needed.

Previously had annual tune up, oil change, and blade sharpening done by another Angie's service provider. Scott Adams provides on site service, blade sharpening, tune up, and oil change at one's home. This saves $35-50 pickup fee normally charged by all Lawnmower repair companies. Scott recommended I pick up Tune Up Kit myself to save money. Recommended Tune Up Kit found at John Deere Website. Did price search using the following websites: http://www.thefind.com/, http://www.google.com/shopping, and Amazon. Tune Up Kit cost $55 which consists filter, two spark plugs, gas filter, oil filter, and oil. Total Cost for Kit, Blade Sharpening, Oil Change and Tune-up was $130. Previous cost with 5 day turn around time with previous off site tractor pickup was $210 with the cost of Tractor Pickup and return. Definitely will use Scott in the future. He is very knowledgeable and will repair any lawn engine equipment. This would include Gas Blowers, Edgers, and Trimmers. And he is a great guy to talk to!

I called Scott and left a message to see if he could come by to remove the drive pulley on my riding mower. He called back a day later and told me right away that it would be more troublesome to remove the pulley as it might get damaged. He suggested that I just bend back the belt guards and slide the belt in. I had already thought of this but I didn't want to damage the machine. Anyway, I followed his advice and did just that and saved myself $70 which is what another service provider had said it would cost. I will definitely call Scott if I need another power equipment fixed that I cannot do myself.

I called Scott in 2009 when the clutch on my 15 year-old lawn mower went out, which he fixed without any problems after I ordered the necessary parts. Because of that experience, there was no question who I would call this year when a gas line on my 17 year-old string trimmer disintegrated. We traded voice mail messages a couple of times during the week before an appointment was set for that same Saturday. He was right on time. He sharpened my lawn mower blade; checked the oil in the lawn mower; and replaced the gas lines on my string trimmer...all in no time at all. He doesn't seem to mind me looking over his shoulder and asking questions, so I can learn and hopefully, be able to fix it myself the next itme. He is the nicest guy, who I believe to be very trustworthy, which is the other reason I called him...I knew if that trimmer wasn't worth fixing, he'd tell me so. I will continue to call Scott for my lawn equipment repairs and he comes HIGHLY recommended by me.

I was disappointed that the service agent could not repair my mini-tiller, but I really appreciated his honesty about his experiences and his opinion of the machine, causing me to seek to purchase a larger, better tiller.

My Craftsman mower conked out and wouldn't start. My handy brother-in-law gave it a shot but couldn't get it going. I had run over an iron pipe in the yard and the mower stopped a few cuts after that. Scott took the mower apart, checked connections and the coil and I don't know what else. He put it back together and it started up on the first try. And every try since. He charged me $20.00 while everyone else including Sears wanted $100.00 PLUS to just LOOK at it. AND..the guy is as nice as a guy can be. Returns phone calls, pleasant, courteous, prompt (Even called to ask if he could come early!!!) My only regret is that he doesn't do cars. And washing machines, And dishwashers and refrigerators and broken hearts.... Give his number to your friends; they'll thank you for it.

I called Scott when my 20-year old Toro lawnmower would no longer start. He was out of town on vacation, but he returned my call anyway. We talked by phone and he promised to contact me when he returned home, which he did. We arranged for him to come to the house to see the lawnmower, and to try to start it. He came out and did that, but was unable to start it. By paying attention to the amount of tension on the pull-cord, as he pulled the cord, he could assess what had happened to the engine. He gave me his assessment, and said it could not be repaired. He recommended some brands of lawnmowers to look into. He said he did not want to charge me for the service. I insisted on paying him something to at least cover the cost of his gas, because he drove for maybe 20 to 30 miinutes to get to my house. He did accept a $20.00 bill to cover his gas. I felt very satisfied with his service and all of his suggestions.

Scott was great. He responded quickly to a voice mail and came to our house the very next Saturday. He was extremely friendly and did a great job. I would recommed him to everyone!

Great, I would use him again. He could have charged me a service call type fee but didn't since he was able to fix it quickly. I actually felt bad not paying him more for what he did. I will definetely use him again.

Great. Great price, great service, friendly guys...what more can you ask for? He also did my neighbor's riding mower. I will use him every year.

Great experience, he was on time and had the mower working in less than a half hour. Even left some starter fluid to assist in case the mower had trouble starting after he left. I'd definitely call him again.

Scott was on time and worked in my garage on a rainy day. Great straight shooter of a guy!! Very knowledgeable about small engine mechanics. He also gave me some tips to improve my line trimmer engine performance. Highly recommended

I called Scott Adams and made an appointment for the weekend. On Saturday, he gave me a courtesy call to let me know he was running a little late due to a delay at Sears in picking up my particular oil filter. He was very professional. Scott sharpened all 6 blades on my Sears lawn tractor, did a complete tuneup, oiled it, set the proper tire pressure, changed the oil filter and spark plugs, the works! He spent over 90 minutes on the job. When finished, he let me know everything I needed to know, showed me my old parts, and chanrged me just $60. I was very impressed. Highly recommended!

Left a message for Scott and the next day received another message that he would be in the neighborhood the following Saturday. The Thursday before, Scott called and said he would be at the house at 9:30 AM. He was right on time and went to work immediately. He noticed that I gerry rigged the handle on my mower and spent time finding the right screws to fix it even though I didn't ask him to do so. And he didn't charge me for the extra service. He is the best!

He was a great guy, did a really great job. It's a great value.

We called and he came out to look at riding lawn mower. The next weekend he came out in the rain and fixed it in our garage.

I called Scott on Wednesday afternoon and got his answering machine. He called me back that night and told me he would come by the house on Saturday between 4:30 and 5:30. He was right on time (he called me at 5:00 to tell me he was on his way), and was able to get my mower and my walk-behind edger running again (something I hadn't been able to do). Total charge was only $25.00!! If I had had to take my stuff in to a repair shop, it would have cost me at least 4 times as much and it would have taken them at least 2 weeks! He also has a number of helpful tips for me to keep these machines running. Timely, punctual, and competent service at a great price. Would definitely use him again, and recommend him highly.
