Steven came to the house and estimated the work in March. While he was there, we looked over plans and he provided thoughts and ideas to achieve our goals but still stay in our budget. After we agreed on the price starting price, he scheduled our work to begin mid-May. Weather delays, and a scope expansion on a previous client pushed our work to start May 23, 2014. As work progressed, Steven identified and discussed changes as they occurred, keeping us advised of cost item increases as the work progressed. When the paver manufacture had problems with the paver casting machine and stock was mis-fabricated, Steven kept after his supplier to get replacement pavers. When the new paver shipment arrived, and the color was darker than the first batch, Steven and his crew removed already and replaced pavers mixing in the darker color pavers to make the entire patio look like it came from a single product run. In short, Steven and his crew pay very close attention to detail. It could be said he's a "perfectionist" but the truth is...you can take him at his word...he works to ensure he does not do work at your house that he would not install at his own home!! Work Scope: Concrete Demolition - Machine and Hand Excavation - Placement of 2" conduit sleeves for plumber to run gas to fire pit and grill Stone Sub-base Placement / Compaction - Placement of Trench Drain and ADS drain piping - Placement of concrete pavers - Placement of Polymeric Sand - Grading of soil around perimeter of patio and excess soil disposal - Overall cleanup.

From start to finish it was a real pleasure to work with a customer orientated contractor who delivered a wonderful end product. I short listed a number of contractors from Angie's List and other sources to build a patio leading out from our rear screened porch. What struck me with Steven was how open and candid he was on the first call, asking lots of questions about my project and setting clear expectations on time frames for starting and completing the work. After the initial conversation, he duly came around and inspected the job and both my wife and I were convinced that he was the man for the job. We had several other contractors on the short list with exceptional Angie's list ratings; some of which never bothered to show up for the scheduled appointments, none that did engaged in the project or on a personal level like Steven did. All the guys working on site we courteous, respectful, hardworking and showed up when they said they were going to and left the site clean and tidy after each day and when they had completed the work. The end product that Steven and his crew produced surpassed our expectations; the patio looks like it was constructed with the house and the finish is superb. We could not be happier and look forward to many days and evenings enjoying this new space. I would not hesitate in recommending Steven and Superior Hardscapes to any of my friends, neighbors or family.

Steven was awesome to work with! He was professional throughout the entire process. He took the time to show us other projects he had completed as well as helped us with the design of our paver patio, seating wall and fire pit. We already had a bid from another company. Not only was Superior Hardscapes estimate cheaper, but Steven's customer service and professionalism was priceless. Steven and his crew's attention to detail and time spent on every cut and paver placement was above and beyond any contractor we have ever worked with. He literally built our dream patio as if it was his own. We would hire Superior Hardscapes again and HIGHLY recommend them.

Steven was great to work with! He came out to the house to discuss what we wanted done & provided a prompt & professional estimate. We had a bid from another provider which was not only more money, it was vague and unprofessional. Steven's estimate was detailed and thorough. We made some changes to the initial design and Steven made an extra trip to the house to go over that changes and make sure we were all on the same page. Since this was a relatively small job, Steven planned to sandwich in between larger jobs and estimated it would be a couple of weeks before they could start. That was fine with us as we weren't in a big hurry. When materials weren't available for a larger job, Steven asked if he could do the work sooner. He & his crew came out the next day and installed both walls. The walls look great and have enhanced our curb appeal. We would definitely hire Superior Hardscapes again, and would highly recommend them.

Steve from Superior Hardscapes took the time between his MUCH larger jobs and came to our house to help us finish our project. He helped us with proper stones for the caps and he came and cut them and placed them for us. We know they do much larger jobs than ours but he was very helpful and treated us professionally. It took all of maybe 2 hours and it looks beautiful and we are too pleased to have gotten his help to make our project complete.

Stephen was great! Promptly returned our call and got us a quote right away. He was very helpful in the design stage with ideas, recommendations and photos of projects he had already completed. Our project started on time and completed in the time frame that he quoted. Stephen was very detailed about all aspects of the job, telling what he was doing and why. He was also very flexible, we hit him with the stone steps and irrigation system right before he was to start. He incorporated those items with ease.. We are very pleased with the final product and would definitely recommend him to others.

It was a very bad experience. They ran over 3 10 year old native Dogwood trees in back yard with a bobcat to get material to job site. He said that the contract gives him the right to get material into back yard according to his needs. They also put a big gouge in a larger tree with bobcat. I had a plan that he changed without asking. The gate did not close properly when he left. I asked him to leave an inch between the gate and pavers, the gate hits the pavers when opened. I told him i wanted to use Polymeric Sand in pavers a couple times to match my existing pavers before he wrote his estimate. He did not include the Polymeric Sand in his estimate and charge extra for then after the job was completed. His price was middle of the 3 estimates I received. Started the job about 2 weeks after start date.

The new patio turned out very well and we are happy with it. We found the pricing to be very competitive compared to what we were quoted from larger companies. Steven will also work with you if you have sprinkler/irrigation systems. I

2 years ago,we had a Belgard wall installed at the edge of our driveway. We recently noticed that the last few blocks down around the curb were coming loose and needed resetting. Until we found this company, nobody would help us, presumably because the job was too small. Steven not only reset the blocks beautifully, but redirected the drainpipe under the blocks into a new location, since the original pipe had been placed in the wrong position. I'm only sorry I didn't use Steven to install the original wall. An A+ experience from beginning to end. Would use again without question.

Stephen and his crew are extremely professional, friendly, pleasant and just plain nice to have around. Stephen was very helpful with ideas and solutions to our soggy back yard and with the design of our paver walkway and patio. During this project Stephen relocated an existing stone wall, eliminated a concrete sidewalk, installed new drainage pipes, carried all debris, including lots of clay "soil," away, designed and installed the pavers, cleaned up completely, and answered numerous landscaping questions from us. This project took 4 days and the team was ready and working by 7:30am. This is a very efficient group. We are completely pleased with the work, the cost and the result. We highly recommend Stephen and his crew.

Steven and his crew were able to clean out an area of our yard that had overgrown vines, move several piles of mulch and grade part of a hill in the backyard. They had to use the backhoe to do the work, and then had to clear out the vines by hand because they were so thick and matted. The work took a little longer than expected, but Steven charged us the original amount quoted. He is great about communicating timelines and estimates and follows through on what he says.

We had three quotes for installation of the patio. One was way too high, the other was half as much, and Steven came in a little higher than the lowest. The reason we went with Steven was the attention to detail and passion for the work they do. He provided full details on what he intended to do, showed us pictures of his past work, and was able to start the work within a couple of weeks. Steven said he liked to be on site as much as possible while the work was being done, which spoke to a hands on approach and reinforced his attention to detail. The layout of our back yard and fence didn't allow machine removal of the dirt and part of a sidewalk, so the first day consisted of digging out the space by hand and removing it manually (it was a fairly small area), and measuring for correct angles, curves, and pitch. He also laid a good foundation of base stone. The second day was laying the pavers and cutting the pavers as necessary. One of Steven's strong suits is laying the pavers on the diagonal, and measuring and cutting the edge pavers to get an extremely even and precise edge pattern. Very nice work indeed. The third day comprised of finishing laying the pavers, sweeping the polymeric sand in, and finishing the paver step to our house. He kept us apprised of what they were doing and why the whole time. Three days and it was complete. We live within close proximity to our neighbors, so Steven and his team kept the site clean and tidy from beginning to end. The patio looks phenomenal, and I'm confident it's as structurally sound as it is beautiful! Everyone on the team that worked on the project was more than competent and worked hard, but Steven was there working and providing guidance along the way. As good as the work was, I'm sure he's going to soon to be too busy to be at every job for as long as he was at mine, but his attention to detail and professional attitude will ensure a great result.

I hired Superior Hardscapes, Steven Gillard, based on reviews already made on Angie's List and I am very happy that I did. There may be a waiting list for his services but that is because of the quality of his work and his work ethic which are both great. If a contractor does great work they are not going to be available to start your project the next day or even the next week. Steven has a great eye for detail and design. The retaining wall that he installed was not just an ordinary wall but included a rounded corner and a change in finished height that gave the wall interest and character. He listens to what you want and makes suggestions on ways to improve the finished project. Once they start the project they show up on time and work continuous to get the job done. Steven keeps you informed on progress and actually returns phone calls. I could not be happier with the completed project and will use his services again.

We had a great experience working with Steven from Superior-Hardscapes. He responded quickly to our phone calls and scheduled a time to come out to provide a free estimate. He was on-time and professional during the estimate. We had an idea of what we wanted but asked for his input and ways to potentially save cost. He had several suggestions that helped us save some money without compromising the final product and also offered other helpful suggestions regarding some of the details. He brought his I-pad with lots of pictures which provided some visuals and good ideas. He marked out the location of the patio and clarified what we wanted. Following the visit, he emailed us a written quote detailing the items included in the base project cost as well as other add-ons we could opt for. We had received several quotes, and his quote was very reasonable in comparison to the others. Initially, Steven had informed us that he was booked for a couple of months but offered to fit us in between other projects if we could be flexible. They came out and prepared the backyard to install the pavers but couldn't complete the install for a couple of weeks due to the weather and scheduling conflicts. Steven kept in contact with us throughout the project and let us know when they would return to complete it. When they returned, they completed the project in 1 day. Steven had a crew of 3 with him and was always on-site to monitor the project and ensure that our specifications were met. We are very happy with the final product and can't wait to entertain on our new patio!

Stephen was very responsive to provide an estimate for a ~500 sq.ft. paver patio. However, due to his schedule, he wouldn't be able to start or complete the job for another 8 weeks. During that time, we decided to go in a different direction with our project, but we would definitely recommend Stephen for a hardscape project.

Due to Steven's busy schedule it took awhile for him to review our job but he was always professional letting me know when he could make it. We had a tree fall in our yard which damaged some accent wall segments. It was a small job but he still treated it professionally and kept me in touch as to the schedule the entire time. He will definitely be my first call when we do a larger job planned in the next few years.

Overall thing went very well. We did have to wait several months from the time we signed on unitl the project began. That is ofen the case with a contractor who has a track reocrd of doing exceptional work at a great price. Once things got rolling the project went quickly - excavating the area for the patio, tamping the area with the crush stone and then installing the paver. Any major project has surprised. One for us was the amount of dirt for the excavation. The dirt is not hauled off unless arrangements are made in advance....we had not really anticipated or planned for that issue. We are working with Steven, the business owner, now to have it hauled away and are confident that this will be taken care of. The was more yard damage than anticipated. Part of that was bad luck with a lot of rain a few days before the project began. Part of it I suppose...I am going to need to hire someone to get the yard back in good condition. The work itself was exceptional - Steven is a very detail oriented person and clearly wanted the final product to look good and be of high quality. He helped with design suggestions on the front end - all his suggestions proved to be correct concerning the look and functiuonality of the patio. Looking at cost and quality I would recommend Superior Hardscapes 100%.

Steven came when he said he would. He and crew were able to complete job in one day. When I expressed concern about the way the sidewalk was curing after he'd finished the job, he came and took a look, assured me all was normal.

Steven and his crew were all very professional. Put in an eight inch base of gravel and sand that was packed hard with a machine. Pavers were placed at an angle and then the edge was square to give it a finished look. Everything is held in place with a concrete edge below the surface. The finished product is outstanding. I would hire Steven again for any type of hardscaping.

The job went well overall and we were very satisfied with the end product.

Steven was great to work with. He came out right away to look at the job. He was very upfront about cost of stone and how he works.He was even able to save us some money because he had some of our stone leftover from another job. He worked hard to get us on the schedule as soon as he could and his team arrived on time and worked fast and efficiently. They even managed to work around my flowers and replant some things we had to move. We had a few issues with how the orginal porch was constructed and he was upfront and explained the issues to me and how he can fix them. The end project came out great. We had a small issue a few week later and Steven came and took care of it quickly. We were very happy with the end product and plan to work with them again in the future.

Steven had a very good sense for the design and what he thought would work for our situation and solve our drainage issues. The materials combined with his workmanship and professionalism made for a complete package well worth the investment. The drainage issue was addressed and the final product was beautiful as well as functional. We will be hiring Superior Hardscapes again and we highly recommend them to everyone.

Steven just completed a small paver patio job for us and we are extremely happy with it. He was extremely professional and worked with us to achieve exactly what we wanted. He was great to work with and always kept us up to speed with the plans. I would definitely use Steven and his team again.

Steven came out to give an estimate the day I contacted him. We received the quote the next day. He was able to start work about 5 weeks later. Start date was pushed back a couple of times, but he was able to complete the patio by the date we asked. We are very happy with the results. He seemed to really know what he was doing and were confident after meeting him. I didn't get any other quotes so I can't compare prices, but the price seemed very fair given the amount of work.
