On June 27,2016 , had a new roof put on by Southern Star Construction.This had to be one of the smoothest transactions I have ever done. They did such a wonderful job, the workers worked the whole time they were here, very polite and very hard working. The roof looks amazing really a fine job, and when it come time for them to clean up and leave, I was totally amazed at how much time and effort they put into making sure no pieces of shingles are in your yard or any where else. It was a very professional group of people and I highly recommend them.

Below is a copy of our review on the job that was performed: Dear Brandon: My husband and I wanted to take the time to tell you ?Thank You? for being there for us when we really needed help the most. I still cannot believe that the day after we closed on our house the wind storm hit the area and ripped off a good portion of the shingles on the front of our roof. We didn?t even have a chance to get any furniture in the house and were faced with a major problem. The following day the winds were still bad and more shingles came off of the roof, tar paper was ripped and some of the shingles were even caught in our trees surrounding the house. You and your crew were the first ones to help us even before our Insurance Company would. Thanks to you we had temporary tarps to secure the roof and you even replaced a damaged boot free of charge. At that point in time we hadn?t even discussed any details or made any promises to go with your company but you stuck by us every step of the way and even helped out when the insurance adjuster had finally come out 3 weeks later. We were so pleased with the efficient and professional manner in which the roof was replaced by your crew. It only took 1 day and the color, texture, workmanship and cleanup was just short of amazing! We would highly recommend you and your crew to anyone needing a roofing repair or replacement. I had Southernstar Roofing and Construction repair my gutter which was dangling off of my 3 story home after a storm. I called several places and they were the only ones to respond. I needed someone to my house ASAP because I was afraid the high winds would blow the dangling gutter into a window. They came out that day! I will definitely be calling Southerstar with all of my future roofing needs. Very professional. I highly recommend them!

Southern Star Roofing was responsive during quoting process. Unfortunately, it took them three visits to fix the roof. They actually caused an additional leak while trying to repair the roof and that caused more interior damage. It was a mess and I had someone else complete the interior work. The roof seems not to be leaking at this point. I'm just very dissapointed with the quality of work and the frustration of having them come out three times to do a job that should have been one visit.

The service was great. Overall, they're an A+. I would absolutely use them in the future. I referred them to several friends.

Brandon and the guys at Southern Star Roofing were awesome! They rushed over to inspect the problem and had a crew working on the project very quickly. I couldnt ask for a more professional crew and the finished product looks great. I would use them for all my roofing needs going forward.

We had postponed a new roof a bit too long and had a couple of leaks into the attic. Brandon Johnson, owner of Southern Star Roofing & Construction, arrived early for our appointment and waited in the truck for the appointed time. We wanted to know the specifics about what was being recommended and alternatives. Brandon spent a good bit of time with us both educating and explaining. We agreed to the exact shingle to be used, work to be done, price and timing. Understanding our situation Brandon?s crew arrived soon and all work was completed within 5 days of contract signing. The crew did a truly excellent job in the removal, installation and clean-up. The customer interaction and work performed was highly professional. They have my unqualified recommendation. We were very pleased with the service we received. They salesman was very upfront and honest about the work to be done and most especially about additional work I asked about. The workman came before the promised date and completed the work promptly. It looks great and we do not have a leak any more. I would definitely refer this company to my friends and have them do work for me again.

Brandon and his team did the siding, gutters, and roof on our new house. The workers were polite and completed all jobs in a professional manner. Very happy with the results. Brandon was easy to get in touch with and responded to calls or emails always in a timely manner.

After interviewing several roofing contractors I decided on Brandon...and I am glad I did. Quite simply, he makes it happen. We had a short window to perform the work and he delivered (even despite the rainiest November in Charlotte history). He is very responsive and will do his best to "make it right." His foreman, Juan, is equally as great. I highly recommend.

All of the guys were wonderful and very attentive to details - we actually had some extra work because we like them so much!!!

Excellent service! I recently purchased a new home and had a home inspection completed that noted a variance in the color of shingles. Although the home inspector did not believe the difference in the shingles appearance presented a structural problem, I wanted the opinion of an expert in the field. I contacted Mr. Johnson to see if he would review the report and provide his opinion on the matter. I have to admit, I felt a little silly inquiring about this since the house is new construction, but I wanted to be certain. Mr. Johnson was happy to review the report and even offered to inspect the roof. He concluded that the variance in shingle color was most likely improper granule mixing when the shingles were fabricated. Moreover, he felt certain that this should not have an effect on the integrity of the shingles. Even though this was a minute request in the grand scheme of things, Mr. Johnson took his time and provided top-notch customer service. I would recommend Southern Star Roofing & Construction to anyone!

I want to say that Southern Star did great work on our Townhome roof. But that is not what I want to write about. When Southern Star did our roof there was a mistake made, the flue was not reattached to our HVAC unit and caused damages to our HVAC unit. Brandon Johnson the owner of Southern Star responded quickly and professionally, he did his due-diligence and worked with our HVAC company to get the facts as to what happened, how and why it happened. As soon as he realized we were not just trying to squeeze him and his company out of $, he did the right thing and paid for the damages that were caused by his company. My wife and I understand mistakes happen, but it is how you respond and Brandon responded as a professional. He is a man of his word. This mistake could have happened to any company or anyone.When you are working on a job as big as Southern Star was performing such as replacing the roofs in a townhome community. We would recommend Southern Star to anyone looking to replace or add on a roof. Quality work done professionally and stand by their word.

Brandon and his Team were very polite and professional. One thing that really jumped out at me was the fact that, after he handed me the estimate, he asked me if I thought it was fair. I can't remember the last time anyone has asked me if they were charging a fair price for their service. After he provided me with the estimate, he threw in extra work for free - he noticed that all of my front windows needed new caulking so he had his guy take care of that when he was out to caulk around my bay window roof flashing. Communication was good - we exchanged text messages and Brandon kept me up to speed as to when the work was going to be completed. I was also impressed with the attention he gave to this admittedly small job. A class act. I wish them well and I will recommend them to anyone - and definitely use them again.

Both time we used Southern Star the work was done quickly and as stated. Brandon met with us each time, going through in detail his thoughts on how the repairs could be done and pricing options. The work was started on the day that we agreed on and finished quickly. The recent gutter installation came out fantastic! He recommended an oversized 6" gutter which would help capture more water and suggested the gutter RX system for the inserts. He made sure to match the gutter color as close to our existing downspouts as possible. I can't see any difference in color which is great. The gutter miters and end caps were all sealed completely with a high grade adhesive to ensure they wont' leak. We had rain about a week after the installation and I went around with a flashlight checking for leaks and found not one. Brandon suggested that a downspout be run from our upper roof gutter straight into our lower roof gutter to help divert the mass of water flow we were having at the corner of our back porch. The major water runoff was causing damage to our porch and I knew something needed to be done. After the rain, I was AMAZED that the corner of the porch that would absolutely flood with water was actually DRY! Great suggestion Brandon. The gutter RX system seems very solid, it was a good recommendation. We had the cheap plastic gutter inserts previously which only held up for about a season. Brandon said the RX system was made from very durable aluminum which would not flex or bend. From what I can tell, it is a high quality system and looks great after installation. Across the board Brandon has been a pleasure to work with. With his busy schedule, he never missed a call back if I had a question about anything. His pricing was more than fair on both occasions and he works in a very professional manor. Thanks again Brandon and Southern Star, we will definitely refer anyone to you looking for gutter / siding / window / roof work. I'm sure we will need some more work done in the future, you will be my first call for sure.

They were very good. There was a problem from before, whoever had fixed the roof before had made a mistake. They came in and fixed the leak but later I found out that the leak actually occurred in a different part; they had not diagnosed it right. They came back and fixed the entire thing and completed the entire additional fixtures for free because they thought that they had not done a good job diagnosing. They charged me for a three by four area but fixed an eight by ten area. They were very personable and fast to get out here the first time. As soon as they heard that I had an additional continual problem they were right on it. I fully expected to pay because they didn’t cause the problem in the first place but they felt responsible because they didn’t diagnose it right. They were really amazing. Their integrity is huge because I felt like I could trust them, their words and that they were concerned about getting the job done right. I would highly recommend them.

After receiving a home inspection report for my house that is being sold, I contacted Southern Star for an estimate and emailed them the report to specify which repairs needed to be done. They were quick to respond and gave me a quote that was significantly lower than another A-listed Angie's List provider. I hired them to come out and make the repair and they were able to do so with a couple of days. Brandon made all the necessary repairs and, although the report only said to repair 2 pipe boots, Brandon repaired all 5 pipe boots. I couldn't be happier with his level of service,pricing, and work quality.

They were on time and took great care in doing the repair properly.

Brandon made this project very easy. During his initial visit to our home, he presented us with a proposal for the cost of the project and samples of roofing shingles. He also took the time to explain the entire project in very easy to understand terminology.

I purchased a Groupon for the gutters to be cleaned. Southern Star was out in a few days (as soon as the rain stopped). I told them that I suspected a possible small leak because there is a very small amount of discoloration in the ceiling in one room. They guy who came asked me to show him from the outside whereabouts I suspected the leak so that he could double check that area. In very short time he had all of the gutters cleaned and there was NO mess to be found anywhere after the job was done. He also said that there is no leak which was nice to hear. I know that there are dishonest companies that might tell you otherwise just to sell you a new roof. They were very honest. He also bought paint specifically to match my chimney cap and showed the paint to me before applying it to be sure I was happy with the color. I was, so he proceeded. It looks SO much better now. The nicest part was that the owner, Brandon called me afterwards to be sure that I was happy with the work and to give me a report on the findings. (The guy on site had already done that, but it was also nice that the owner followed up.) Brandon also emailed me the same information and sent pictures of the before and after of my gutters. Since I'm definitely not crawling up there to check, this was a nice bonus. Overall, I would definitely use these guys again.

I met with Brandon Johnson to have the roof replaced on my house in Matthews NC. He arrived on time and proceeded to measure and check to see exactly what needed to happen for my roof repaired. The roof was original to the house so it was 14 years old and contractor grade. We felt it would be best to completely tear off and start fresh with the new shingles. Brandon worked with me and my insurance company with any questions concerning my claim. The work was done on the day it was promised. The roof looks fantastic!

Brandon's response and eagerness to work with me was refreshing. He and his foreman Cruz were out to my house the next day and did a great job of communicating their concerns and plan. The work was performed quickly, they didnt leave trash or debris around my home and they seem to have done a great job. I now have some gutter work that I am getting quoted out by Southern Star and I feel confident that they will do a great job on it as well. I cant recommend them enough.
