Southern Moving

Overall this move was as good as any move could be. I first received an estimate from the owner about 3 weeks before the move with a "will not exceed" amount on the contract. I paid for 4 men for 6 hours with an estimate of $1,100. It seemed a little high but I liked his positive, professional attitude. On moving day (the day after Thanksgiving!) only 3 men arrived and I became quite concerned, but they got right to work. They were done quickly with no problems at all. They didn't bump anything, break anything, and took care of my belongings as if they belonged to them. They were respectful, pleasant, and STRONG! When it came time to pay the bill, I was pleasantly surprised that these 3 men moved my entire condo with time to spare and the total bill was about $850, well under the 'will not exceed' price. Needless to say, my husband and I are very pleased with this company and will highly recommend them to friends.

They arrived on time at the storage unit with two trucks and four men. They worked quickly, efficiently, and professionally loading the trucks. They drove to the house, getting lunch along the way. They unloaded the trucks, moving the furniture into the two story house. They set up all the beds and made sure that the furniture was arranged as desired. There was no damage to the furniture or the house.

Mr. York was very friendly, even calling on Thanksgiving day when I called him for a move a few days later. He sent four men who arrived on time and were very courteous. They moved several heavy pieces without difficulty and cleaned up all the debris thereafter. Their price was very fair and I was thrilled with the service they provided. I would recommend them unconditionally and would use them again in the future. Great experience!

They did a fantastic job! Very professional, worked fast and didn't complain even though the apartment was on the 3rd floor with no elevator in 100 degree heat. AWESOME... would definitely use again!

This is the second time that we have used this company. Randall gave us a fair quote for the four men plus the overnight storage. The job ended up taking longer than we had anticipated because we had more things than it appeared when Randall gave us the quote. We ended up paying $400.00 more than the agreed upon quote but that was our choice, Randall did NOT try to get us to pay extra even though he would have lost money (which impressed us!). The only reason I put a "B" under responsivness is because there was some problem which came up and it was not handled initially as quickly as it should have been but it was finally handled to both of our satisfaction. If a company can be judged by the way it handles a problem not so much by how it handles the initial work than this company has proven itself to be a winner! I would strongly recommend this company to any person looking for a reputable,hardworking and honest company!

Excellent!!!! Our first move we did a huge amount of prep work. We took furniture apart, moved drawers, got as much to the first level as possible. We had items sorted by apt vs. garage, and separated from what we would move ourselves. The guys were fast and very strong! Not a single scratch on a wall. They used the sidewalk to the porch and kept the place clean. They took great care loading up, and did so with organization and communication. Unloading was just as smooth. They were going to be doing the second move too, so they let us borrow some of the furniture pads while some pieces were stored in the garage. The second move went just as well. They started at the off-site garage, and then the second garage, and then the apartment. The house was close by so they brought a smaller truck (better maneuverability in an apt complex) and did two trips. We agreed to this in advance because of the possible time extensions, and Randy said if a third trip were required, he would not charge for the time back and forth. We didn't need it. He knows how much can fit in his trucks! The unloading was fabulous. New, freshly painted home with LOTS of mud around it and still, no scratches and a clean home. Overall, the care the teams took with our belongings was not unnoticed. They were great. You can tell the teams worked well together and communicated. We kept our price down by doing a lot of prep work ourselves. For the second move, we did less and let them move more since we already knew the benefit and cost. Randy did a not to exceed estimate and was a pleasure to work with. He also makes honey, so be sure to ask him about it.

They did an excellent job moving several heavy pieces for me. They were very efficient! I was nervous about paying per hour but they worked hard and were very efficient in moving me. The entire team (Isaac, William and Wallace) did a great job. Would definitely use Southern Moving again!

The job was scheduled and performed like clockwork. We have had BAD experiences with other movers in the past, and dealing with Randall and Southern Moving allayed my worries. They were very careful, and flexible when we had to adjust our start date and time due to repairs going on in the house. It was a fabulous experience. My thanks and congratulations to Randall for a job very well done.

The movers were excellent. I had to hire them as the movers I hired a couple of days prior were terrible, couldn't finish the job and damaged my property. Southern Moving was able to come in and help me last minute to move the large items I had left to move and did it quicky, safely and with a great attitude. I highly recommend using this company for your moving needs.

Randall assured me that I would think my money was well spent and I would be happy with their work. He was absolutely correct. Nothing was broken or damaged, they reassembled anything they'd taken apart, and were incredibly patient helping us find the right placement for a very heavy glass topped, marble-based table. The final cost actually came in slightly under the "not-to-exceed" amount. I think the amount I listed was the final cost. The only reason that I didn't give strait 'A's is because of the cost; last time I made a local move it cost about a quarter of this move. All and all, given how stressful moving can be, I couldn't be happier.

They were fabulous. They were on time, courteous, and hard working. Their prices were higher than other companies but their customer service was worth it.

After a several day wait, Mr. York called to say he had misplaced the estimate. It still took another day to send it (e-mail). Of the 3 estimates I got, his appeared to be the best, and his Angie's List ratings couldn't be better. So I called him on Friday afternoon to say I wanted to schedule the move. He called on Monday, we met that morning and scheduled the move for the following morning. The truck showed up right on time (even though I gave them an obsolete address). The estimate was 2 hours to load; they finished in 1 1/2 hours including dismantling a bunk bed. They proceeded back to Charlotte, unloaded some of the items into my garage, then took the rest to a rental storage locker. I checked the locker the next day and was very impressed with how solidly they packed everything in. We did all the sorting and packing ourselves, which was 5 days of hard work. The entire process with Southern Moving was the easy part!

They were on time and very nice. I would highly recommend them to others.

Extremely professional. All of the guys were polite, careful, and concerned with the care of our furnishings. The estimate was lower than their competitors, and we were given a not to exceed number, which worked well, as the calculated bill would have been higher.

The movers worked quickly and cleanly and did the job in a very short amount of time.

Randall came and gave me an estimate stating he would guarantee it would be no more than $900. His movers showed up when I was told to expect them. They took care with all my furniture and boxes. They wrapped the pieces that needed special attention and were very gentle. When they left the apartment and my new home, I had no extra gouges or nicks in the walls. All my furniture arrived unbroken. They asked if they had placed everything where I wanted and would adjust if I needed. It went very smoothly and for less than the estimate. I would recommend them to anyone.

I called Randall York on Monday, June 30. He was able to work us in on Wednesday afternoon. He called me before they went for the pick-up and I met him and his crew there. They had sufficient people, they went right to work and handled everything very carefully. The mirror was 6'x6' and very delicate. They packed up quickly, drove to my house and unloaded in less than two hours. They placed the pieces exactly where we wanted them and were careful to check everything completely.

Southern Moving did a great job. They sent 5 guys instead of the 4 we originally though were coming, which led to a higher hourly rate, but probably ended up with the same cost overall. There was no damage to any of our belongings, and were were very pleased.

They were very up front and let me know what everything would cost. They tried to help me get referrals for what I actually needed. They were very prompt and courteous, and gave great customer service. I wouldn?t hesitate to use them if I ever needed to move to another home. I was surprised at how friendly and considerate they were with me. Their services were just more than I needed.

They moved all of my furniture and accessories. They were puntual, and did a great job protecting my belongings. Nothing was broken, and I would use them again.

The amount that Southern Moving quoted me would have been around four hundred and fifteen dollars. I asked them to try and stay around the $300 dollar range and they did. They were terrific and worked fast. They were very careful with my furniture. Nothing got damaged and very polite. I would hire them again if needed.

They did an excellent job. They sent three men to move one sleeper sofa. We were very pleased.

Moved the dining room set in 30 minutes. Excellent service- very friendly and competent. Only charged me for travel time. Very honest company.

SHS was installing a roof near us due to hail damage so I stopped to inquire. I knew of the problems we had and have replacements for the shingles, and I naturally checked Angie's List! There was no hail damage so the foreman gave me a price and agreed to do the work the following day. Then the rain hit so I called the company to tell them to stay home until the rain stopped. SHS did not know about the job but said their crew could take jobs on their own and SHS did not mind. Since I was talking with the company, I made an appointment for Robert Drumm to check the roof again that afternoon. He checked, gave us an estimate and did the work right away since he had time before his next appointment in the neighborhood.
