The job went very smoothly. The workers cleaned up thoroughly as the work progressed with no damage to any of the landscape plants. We had a few suggestions when the job was almost complete, which they did to our satisfaction. The roof looks very nice.

I had no idea where to begin when I discovered that my roof had been damaged during the storm. I just knew I had to get it fixed fast because more rain was expected. I found Southern Home Services on Angie's list and they took care of everything. They came out and looked at the roof the day I called, and sent me the estimate the next day. The work was done a few days later. The best part was that I didn't have to be home for any of it, which was such a blessing. Thank you!

They were contracted to do the above work but ended up doing more. They ended up doing some extra caulking for free. The estimate was similar to the others we received but their contract was a lot simpler. There was no fine print. They communicated well.

I was very happy with the work and have not had any leaking since that time.

The actual problem was a board in a vent that had warped, so they identified that problem even though it had nothing to do with the roof. He didn't charge us anything for the visit.

They were great, we recommended them to our neighbor - he put a new roof on with them also and was very happy about it. Their pricing was right in the range we were told it should be, other companies gave us a price almost double that. They were one of the only companies we felt were honest right from the beginning.

Very Well. Arrived on time for estimate and work. Kept me updated on when he and the crew would be arriving, when materials and when dumpster would arrive and be removed.

We used Southern Home Services for both repairs. On both occasions, I called the company's phone number listed in Angie's List, left a voicemail, and had it returned within a day or two. I tried calling a couple other Angie's List roofers, though Shawn was the only one who could respond and do the work within a week's time. Shawn Kalgreen provided estimates on both cases and performed the work per the estimate. Shawn was able to get to me within a week, and came on the day we setup the appointment for. Shawn also provided perspective that we may want to consider replacing the roof in the next 2-3 years given its age, and he provided an approximation for what that might cost so that we could budget in the future. For the second trip out, Shawn also nailed in a small shingle at my request that had become partially dislodged.

Shawn did an outstanding job from start to finish. He communicated progress each day and filled me in what they were planning to do the following day. There were no surprises or additional costs. Shawn & Southern Home Services is an example of how to run a business. The price was not the lowest (but was within 10%); however this was the smoothest project we have ever dealt with. I will definitely use them again in the future.

We had an excellent experience with Shawn and his carpenter Kelly. Shawn worked with us to create a solution to our problems. His price was fair for the work performed. His crew was prompt and professional. Kelly was extremely nice and considerate, thoroughly cleaning up the site every day. We had a custom gate built that was a bit complicated and Kelly was very diligent in making sure it was just the way we wanted it. I felt like Kelly treated this project the same as he would one on his own home. I highly recommend this company for general renovation and repair work.

We had a leak and when the man came out he said that it was just that the builder installed the shingles incorrectly. He advised that I call the builder. He was very professional and honest. He could have just told me I needed a new roof but did not. I would use him in the future.

Everybody is awing at my roof, the architectural shingles are very impressive. Fantastic job!

His response and proposal were very professional and reasonable. I selected someone else, but only after considerable review. I would recommend Southern Home Services for any roofing work.

I emailed Shawn after another company did not show up for an appointment to check roof leaks. Although it took a few days for my email to be returned, I was able to have an appointment scheduled a few days later. Shawn was very professional and even showed up early for our appointment! He checked the problem areas in my roof, caulked a hole, and didn't even charge me! He will be the first person I call for any roof issues in the future. I would highly recommend him. Nice, courteous, and knowledgeable.

Shawn came out and gave an estimate and talked with us about the roof whether to repair or replace. We decided to put on a new roof. The crew arrived as planned and were very professional in their work. They cleaned up each day as they did the work and after the work was completed.

Shawn was a pleasure to work with. His estimate was the lowest and he scheduled us sooner than most of the others. He brought samples of materials and a model of proposed ridge vents for discussion. The work was done on schedule and with military precision. The materials were delivered early in the morning and within 2 hours the crew was working on the roof. It took 2 days which is good time for a 3200 square foot house. They cleaned up so thoroughly, you wouldn't have known they had been there. The subcontractor came the following week to do the gutters and also did a fine job. The roof looks terrific! Our positive experience once again demonstrated the value of being a member of Angie's List.

He refused to let me pay him because it was such a small job! He couldn't have been nicer! I was completely satisfied and I would highly recommend him.

I did get any competing bids, so I don't know how good a deal it was. The house has approximately 1,492 feet of roof. They were always on time and did what they said they would do. They did a good job cleaning up; I have no complaints.

They were very efficient, polite and good.

An absolutely wonderful experience. Shawn could not have been a nicer man to deal with regarding my leak problem. If I could give an A++++++, I would. Not knowing who to call, I used Angie's List to find this company. It was definitely the right choice.

We discovered a water leak, over the Thanksgiving holiday, that was pushing out a large bubble in our ceiling and causing a horrible odor. I called 5 places on Monday morning, and only received 2 calls back. One of them was Shawn. He happened to be in the area and came over within 30 minutes to inspect and give us an estimate. Shawn found a couple of holes, possibly from a DirecTv installation, which he promptly filled with silicone. Shawn thinks this will take care of our problem. He also, took a good look at our roof and assured us we had about 3-5 years left. We were prepared to hear, that we needed a new roof immediately. Shawn refused to take any money, even though he spent at least a 1/2 hour with us. Shawn was responsive, helpful and honest, even when it cost him work! We will certainly call him again, when we are ready for a new roof. We were very, very impressed.

It went well. There was a small delay in completing the work. However I was kept informed along the way and consider the job to be well done.

As in dictated in the many other reports listed here on Angie's List, Shawn and his company are top notch. They are prompt, professional, competent, honest and a pleasure to work with. Hands down the best contractor I have hired. The quote I received to perform the work I requested was clear, professional and came in 10% less than the lower of the other 2 I received. The workmanship warranty is the best I was offered as well. All 3 contractors estimated the remaining life of my roof was 5 years, and I will hire Shawn and Co. when the time comes. I admire reliable and honest service providers. I hope Shawn opens an auto repair shop someday.

Again, working with Shawn and SHS was a pleasure. He helped us find excellent color matches to our existing siding and trim. The quote was clear and the price was competitive with service providers that (I know from experience with them) would/could not have provided the same workmanship and warranty. The final product looks great. I have enough confidence in SHS to refer this company to my neighbors needing similar work. I'll hire them again to install the same wherever and whenever needed in the future.

Our neighbors recommended Shawn. There are four homes on our street that sport his company's handywork. But when our dog took to him the way she did, we knew he could be trusted! There was no pressure, no surprises, no waiting. He made himself available anytime for concerns or questions we may have had. He is courteous, knowledgeable, precise, and responsible. The work done reflects that. I had to be home while the work was being done. When I was concerned about how my high-strung dog would deal with the pounding on the roof, Shawn offered to take her to his house to play with his labs until the work was finished. I declined his gracious offer, but you can't beat that for "over and above the call of duty".
