They did an excellent job. Their price was the best estimate I got. They were very courteous and cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them!

I got them from Angie's List. The workmanship was very good except for around the exterior lights, faucets. The brackets they put on seemed to be loose. They said they would use a magnetic roller to pick up nails but I did find quite a few. They were very responsive. He came quite a few times with different products. He explained them all and was patient with our questions even when we changed our minds. He brought samples of different grades of products. He returned our phone calls promptly. Overall he did a good job. We had one problem and they sent a guy out immediately to fix it.

Everything went great! Shawn, the owner, came exactly when we had planned to give us an estimate. He was very professional and honest about what he thought we needed. We had two other estimates, and they tried to convince us to do more work than Shawn felt was necessary since our roof will need replacing in the next three to five years anyway. (His estimate was about $200 less than the other two.) We appreciated his honestly and will certainly use Southern Home Services when it is time for a new roof. He also gave us a five year warranty, and the other companies only give a one year warranty. I would definitely recommend Southern Home Services.

I am very satisfied with the work they did. The only problem I had was that they haven't done one minor thing that I asked them to do. They did pay me money for the referral though. Everything else went very good though.

They did it all in one day and everything went smoothly. Clean up was great and everything was perfect.

They returned my call. They were booked up at the time, and the repair I needed was immediate. I chose to go with another company for this repair.

Shawn came to my home to give estimate and he was extremely thorough and honest. Out of all the bids I received, he was the only one who went into my attic to look at my ventilation fan to see if it was working. He could not tell if it was working or not due to it not being hot enough to be running, and he thought the motor looked new and suggested I keep the fan and then check it when it warms up, and if at that time if I find its not working, he would replace it at cost. Everyone else automatically wanted to take it out and put in vent ridge (charging me more $$). I decided I did not want to bother with the fan, and did go with the vent ridge, but Shawn's honesty and thoroughness of my attic and roof won my business. He also helped me pick out the color of shingles, offering to come over and put 3x3 sections up on my roof of different colors, if I needed, but his other suggestions (looking at houses similar to mine and using Owens-Corning web site that he emailed to me) helped me decide on the perfect color. Shawn is GREAT! About a week before they were to come out, Rob contacted me and told me when they would come out and what to expect. The next day, Rob called again and stated they had enough people to come out the next day & they would start and finish that day, if that would be alright with me. I have to admit, I was nervous having them start on the day before Thanksgiving, but true to his word, they started and finished on Wednesday-and with daylight to spare. The workers were great; they moved my deck furniture, and put it back, they cleaned up my yard, and you can not tell they were there except for a beautiful new roof! Cost was average, I did have bids higher and lower than SHS. Very impressed and would definitely use them again and strongly recommend them to anyone.

I did not use Southern Home, I ended up using another roofing company from Angie's list. I am sure Southern home would have done a fine job and deserve there high ratings on Angie's list.

Rob was wonderful to work with. He was great at answering our questions and concerns, and even met with the insurance adjuster to address their concerns. The work was performed on time and Rob was great about keeping us in the loop during the process. They did an excellent job on the roof.

Worked with Sean at SHS without any problems. Exchanging emails worked very well for both of us. Received the quote, signed it and faxed/emailed it back. They told me when they would come out and called the day before to say they would be there.

We got several estimates and we chose them because their work looked the best. We checked out previous jobs they had done and talked to customers. We are overall very happy with the job.

We scheduled an appointment within a few days of my call, but they ended up being in my area a few hours before the appointment, so they called to ask if they could stop by early. After inspecting the roof, the only problem seemed to be some small nail holes, which he quickly fixed at no charge since it was such a minor repair and not far out of their way. Great service, and I will definitely call them in the future if any repairs are necessary.

I got a quote from this company last year. Shawn told me then that I could wait a couple of years to replace my roof. When I experienced some recent leaking around the chimney, I asked him to inspect the roof again. He gave me a quote for replacing the flashing as well as updated his quote for replacing the roof. He advised that the current roof would probably last another year or so. Due to the rising cost of shingles and in search of some peace of mind, I chose to replace the entire roof. The entire process took about a day and a half. Rob, the project manager, was at my house at 8 AM the day the work began to explain the process, answer any questions I might have, and give me his contact information. I had a few questions for Rob, and it was always easy to get in touch with him. I came to work (I thought it would be nerve wracking to be inside while they were pounding on the roof), so I actually never saw the work being done. However, I knew from my research that this company stands behind it's work so I did not feel the need to supervise closely. In addition to leaving me with a great looking roof, they also did a great job cleaning up. It's been over a week and I have only found one nail (in the backyard, not even on the driveway). They brought a dumpster with them as well as laid tarps over the landscape to capture the debris. They also left me a pack of shingles so there won't be a matching problem if future repairs are necessary. This was one of the easiest home upgrades/repairs I have ever done.

They did an excellent job. Everything was put back perfectly. Actually, it looked better than the original job when the builders did it. They were very nice and anxious to please, and I was very impressed with all of them.

It went very well. I had one little problem which they worked out to our satisfaction. They did a great job. They were very good about cleaning up and returning our phone calls.

After a having roof damage from a hail storm, we called Shawn and gave him dimensions for a budgetary estimate for re-roofing our home. He responded quickly with an estimate and followed up with a visit to explain the estimate and to verify the dimensions. After accepting the estimate, he scheduled us for 3 weeks out. Exactly three weeks later we received a call from the project manager letting us know they were ready to come and do the work. The crew was professional in every way and did a great job cleaning up the site and covering the unroofed section at the end of the day. Midway through the work, the crew noticed that some wrong color shingles were delivered, so the project manager contacted the store I bought them from and arranged for an immediate trade-out. It only took them two days to finish the job and the roof looks great. I was especially impressed by the fact that it carries a 5 year warranty against leaks. I would recommend this company to anyone!!

The experience was good. They showed up on time to do the work. I have already recommended them to other people.

Sales call and estimate went well, Shawn is very personable and explained all options and made pertinent observations and recommendations. The work was scheduled and the team started on time. I was also having new gutters installed and Shawn co-ordinated this installation with Gutter Shutter so that they would know when to start work. It would normally have taken about 2.5 days for my roof but because of rain on two of the days, it actually took them about 3.5 days. Rob the supervisor visited the site several times and met with me after completion to make sure I was satisfied. The roof and gutter system are beautiful and make my traditional brick house look almost new.

Price was competitive with other contractors but not special. SHS fit my requirement of a small, medium sized business with direct owner contact. Also has full-time employees rather than subcontractors. Due to a cancellation, SHS was ready to install in a few days. Trucks are unmarked. Installation was orderly and employees speak English. This was a job that should take 1-1/2 days, even in blistering heat. Unfortunately, towards the end of the first day, while the project manager was at a different location, two of the workers decided to take a shortcut by not installing felt under the shingles in several difficult areas. They were clever and never actually let me see them installing over bare plywood but I noted some suspicious locations. Once the shingles are down, I doubt that anyone (except me?) would ever want to look under them. The next day, the PM & I went on the roof and verified that some areas had missing felt. Within two days the suspect areas were stripped and re-installed correctly. A gutter was damaged during the repairs. SHS responded promptly and replaced the gutter. I think the staff is well-intentioned and trustworthy but their employees definitely let them down on this job. Who knows where else the felt is missing? Fortunately, their warranty and demonstrated responsiveness should prevent that from ever being an issue.

Great, great, great. I think we were lucky to fit into a good space on their schedule - they had another job near our house Tuesday AM and thus could just head over to our house after that was completed. We paid them $350.00 for the work; I don't know if it's a good price or not, because the other 2 companies I called (with refs from Angie's List) could not even come out for an estimate for at least 7-10 days....let alone perform the work. So I was happy to pay that price to have peace of mind. Especially since they had such great reviews on this list. Rob - the estimator - was very professional. He took pictures of our roof while up there to show me exactly what needed replacing, and he did not try to sell me anything I didn't need. He also walked with me through our attic to show me the problems with the existing pipe collars. He said that they would be at my house by late in the day on Tuesday, and they were actually there and done before 3pm. So we are very happy and would absolutely use them again.

The experience was excellent. As far as roofing, their trim work was really good. Also, they discovered that I had a couple non-sealed skylights. They pointed them out and replaced them.

He discovered that we needed an additional collar around one of the other vent pipes that goes through the roof, but that the other two pipes were fine. If he really wanted to gouge me he would have wanted to replace the collars around all four. I would definitely have him over if I needed additional work.
