Sean, the owner, is someone I really like. If the price was right, I would have gone with him. He's professional, hardworking, and a nice guy.

I emailed several companies to get estimates for damage done to my roof from hail, and to repair and replace gutters and fascia rotted from years of damage. This company stood out from the beginning as being the most professional and responsive. They initially came and did an estimate in approximately twenty minutes, and had the details of the estimate to me almost immediately; while others took a longer time to complete the estimate and to send me the estimate, came at times other than we scheduled or simply did not return my emails at all. The work is very nice; the people are extremely knowledgeable and professional. The most important thing, really, is that I think they are honest and fair. I have no experience with roofs, so it is difficult to trust someone to do the work when you can't really accurately appraise what they are doing or what they are telling you. It's kind of frightening and intimidating like buying a car! Talking with Shawn, however, it was clear that he was knowledgeable and was not trying to rip me off in any way, didn't try to sell me anything extra or scare me into thinking I needed to get extra work done! I had the exact same experience with his project manager Rob. He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and honest. I would recommend this company without reservation. I also dealt only with other high rated companies on this list initially when trying to get the best price and determine who to use and it was clear that they are a cut above other equally rated companies in there responsiveness, price, and professionalism.

Great. The sales process was efficient and easy. SHS provided a detailed quote, spent a lot of time with us to answer all our questions and explain the process in detail. Great references were available - we know because we called them. SHS took a look around and made very reasonable recommendations; they collaborated working with our ideas and offering explanations as to their suggestions as well. SHS spent time with us to help us select the correct shingles for the look and feel we wanted. They were very efficient to do everything - the work was done in less than 1 week. They were there and working when they said they would be there. The work was well organized. They took care of a few extra details like putting up screens to prevent animals getting into the attic and painting the stacks so they would blend into the roof and not stick out. They did a decent job of cleanup. Lost a few limbs off bushes in the process. Overall - the did great work and I would recommend them.

Over all, the job went very well. SHS did all they said they would do and cleaned up well after the job. We had several estimates. SHS was not the highest, not the lowest. I felt their bid was fair.

I got 4 bids on my roof. Shawn's was the second-least expensive. As a SWF professional, gouging is always a huge issue and I thought this bid was very fair. The proposal was written comprehensively and precisely. Shawn readily agreed to reuse my copper flashing whereas the 3 other companies had insisted it be replaced or suggested that reusing it was a bad idea. On the "pick the shingles" day Shawn was incredibly patient. I had an artist friend over, and we were making the poor man move shingle samples from here to there on the roof, in the sun, now put them in the shade, now put those two side by side and he had the patience of Job. Shawn's project manager Robert was also terrific. He called in advance of install day, then showed up with 3 crews. How do you get a new roof in about 6 HOURS? Wow. Old room in AM, new roof in PM when I got home from work. We were all surprised to find that there was no tarpaper under the old roof, I guess I was lucky I didn't have worse leaks. I should add that Shawn's bid was the only one to specify synthetic underlayment, definitely a value added material. He also set out a precise cost for any replacement plywood for the roof decking (one sheet = $30). The gutters were undamaged and the site cleanup was A on a man scale, a solid B plus on a woman scale. I have been picking up just a few shreds of clear plastic strips, I found only one major nail in a spot I could easily understand the magnetic rake missed. The total leftover mess wouldn't fill a half-gallon milk jug. Considering the slope of the lot the guys did great.

They arrived on time; took time to answer questions; worked all day; were professional and helpful. The supervisor returned again on the third day to see if we had concerns with the finished job. There were a few minor changes that were addressed right away. That night we had a bad storm with wind and heavy rain. It was a nice test. Payment in full was made when the final concerns were addressed.

Job took 6 days, all went great. Shawn's workers always arrived early and went right to work. The job site was kept neat and clean.. I was extremely pleased with the outcome and would recommend them for any remodling job.

The experience was wonderful from the beginning to the end. We called 3 contractors on Angie's List with A ratings. We received 2 quotes. The quotes were similar in cost but the one exception was that SHS us a 10 year labor warranty. The other labor warranty was considerably less. The initial phone call to the office was handled professionally. The individual was friendly as well. She set up the appt and Shawn (the owner) was out the next day. He provided an estimate that was professional and within 24 hours. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He gave me an estimate of starting the job 2 1/2 weeks out from the time the contract was signed. There was such a difference in the two bids and we felt totally comfortable with Shawn, that we signed the contract the next day. True to his promise, they were here and completed the job in 1 day. It was exactly 2 1/2 weeks out from the day we signed the contract. He came by for us to pick out shingles and introduced Robert who would be the Project Manager. I can't say enough good things about Robert and the great job he did. Again, extremely friendly and knowledable. They worked with us on setting up meeting times and walk through when done. Robert came in the evening so my husband could be home. My neighbors were all shocked when they saw they had the roof replaced and entire thing cleaned up at the end of the day. Amazing. I would recommend and hire them again in a minute. Great experience from beginning to end. The other 2 contractors, the office professionalism could be improved. The one that didn't give us an estimate, was because the office individual wasn't very clear on when they could come out to look at the us. We choose SHS just based on the initial responsiveness and quote.

They climbed in my attic and found where the leak was. They came back and were able to fix it just fine. They just had to do some repairs around the chimney.

He could have just quoted me a price to replace for the windows and made the roof repair a lot bigger issue (whichIi assumed it was prior to calling him). It is so nice to have such an honest contractor on the list. Shawn even forwarded contact info to me for 2 contractors (both listed on Angie's List) that he reccomended to fix a couple of things I mentioned to him!! Thank you Shawn! i certianly plan to keep your information handy for future use.

Great! We called to get our roof repaired and Shean from Southern home services came out. Our house is 15 years old so we knew we really needed a new roof. When he looked he saw light coming into the attic space and showed me where the water was getting in. Apparently this is a common problem as the boots around the pipes that go through the roof dry rot and crack badly causing leaks. Shean replaced all the boots on my home and our roof is really steep. He wouldn't let me pay him when he was done! He just said to think of him when we decided to have our roof replaced and advised us we still had a few years left on the one we have. I have found someone I trust and will definately use him whenever I can. He does siding and windows too! I have given his name to my neighbors as the houses in our neighborhood were all built around the same time. I will never use another roofer again. Did I mention he was on time? I forgot to mention that I had called three other roofers with three no call no show appointments. Way to go Shean, I was just happy you showed up!

I picked them because of their price and because I got a good feeling from the salesperson. They were a little bit on the late side, the work got done, but they were a bit messy and left some garbage on my property. The quality of work was fine.

I had a wonderful experience. Shawn came out and game me an estimate. We discussed the items detailed from my insurance company as needed repairs. We scheduled the date of service. His team came out and were prompt, courteous and hard-working. I have recommended them to a few neighbors.

Very well. Shawn was great. Most of the bids we had did not want to do the job because they thought it was too small. Shawn gave us an estimate and completed the work in the next week. The price was good and the windows finally look finished. I would definitely call them back again.

Fantastic!! Best contracting experience I've ever had. Prompt and professional with attention to detail. Since completion, we have recommended them to many others, who have also been most satisfied with their work. I will go to SHS now for any home improvement, as they have gained my trust.We started with the flat roof replacement on the sunroom. Shawn made recomendations for skylights after others said they couldn't do it. Siding was installed in one day and turned out perfect. We had Kelly, his carpenter, look at our sunroom glass push-out to repair it. It turned out to be completely rotted, and had run into the main structure of the room as well. He gutted the room and re-framed it, and put in a beautiful bead board ceiling. Insulated. The room is now a focal point. We have craftsman taste and he definitely gave it a craftsman look. I can't say enough about the quality of work and how happy we are with it. Since then, they've replaced roofs and siding for others we know, as well as attic insulation and home improvement work. The only reason I'm placing this report out here now is because I didn't have an Angie's List account when the work was completed.

They did a wonderful job and did excellent work of cleaning up afterwards. They were very professional, had a knowledgeable staff and even when the foreman or supervisor wasn't around the rest of the team kept right on working. I was very encouraged by that. I would use them again if needed.

They were awesome. They were on time every time they said they were going to be here. They were very knowledgeable. They got the job done in two days which was the same amount of time that they estimated. They had a supervisor who came throughout the day to check to make sure that what is being done is being done properly. He always called me to inform that they are coming early or late and was in touch with me a lot. I could get in touch with him too because I had his mobile number. I could call him directly and when I called him, he answered the call and if he could not answer, he called me back. I have used them a couple of times, have always been impressed with them and would highly recommend them to anyone.

I contacted this company by email twice. He emailed back a few days later and Shawn said he was on vacation and would get by the rental house at his earliest convenience. I needed to have a skylight removed and filled in. A week later (Oct 8) I received a quote by email to replace the skylight with a new skylight and that the cost of additional plywood would be $50 sheet. I quickly emailed him back and stated that I didn't want the skylight replaced, only removed and filled in. That was almost two weeks ago. No response... don't bother emailing this company....they're too busy.

They were very timely and easy to work with. They did a good job cleaning up, and everything looks good. I am very pleased with their work. They did an outstanding job.

SHS representative (owner, I think) Shawn Kalgren was prompt in meeting with me and providing an acceptable bid. The work was done professionally and on a schedule I needed. I consider them to be a first class home services company!

I simply called him for some ideas on getting my factory-defective window replaced (The dealer had gone out of business). He called me back promptly and was very helpful in giving me ideas on how to deal directly with the factory. Overall, a very good experience.

It went very well. We chose very high quality materials which included slate, as well as imitation vinyl shakes to accent the front porch. The materials we chose added to the overall cost. The work was performed timely and professionally. Shawn is an exceptionally likeable and patient individual who is willing to take his time with individual clients. His crew was also professional and courteous. I haven't filed my report earlier because we are having extensive renovations done to our home, including replacement of all exterior doors. Shawn and the crew still have to return to "wrap" the doors after they've been installed by our general contractor. This has yet to be done. There are a couple of other minor issues present. We also had our roof replaced by another company. They did a very poor job and we have been involved in a dispute with that roofer. Upon closer inspection of the roof, we discovered that in some areas on the fascia, SHS went the extra mile and bent the new aluminum fascia underneath the shingles while in other areas they did not do this. This is not required but can go a long way in preventing wind driven rain from penetrating and causing damage. I am certain Shawn will take care of this issue when he and the crew return to wrap the doors. Either way, I will update my report when everything has been completed. I wish I had chosen SHS to replace our roof!

I selected another contractor, but SHS provided a competitive quote. It was a tossup on company reputation and price. Mr. Kalgren was knowledgeable, polite, and professional in all respects.
