Small Equipment Repair Company was in possession of my Tiller and Pressure Washer for 1 and 1/2 months and zero repair work was done on the Tiller and a gasket was replaced on the Pressure Washer. If the company is busy I would prefer honesty upfront in that it may take 1 and 1/2 months vs. the 2 weeks timeframe I was given. Furthermore, the fact that it took 32 days before a representative of Small Equipment Repair company initiated a phone call to me and that Bruce did not offer to assist a customer in lifting the equipment into a vehicle is poor service. One might question that assisting a customer in this manner is against the rules; however, Nadia offered to assist me in lifting both items out of my vehicle when I dropped them off on 8.16.12, and I gladly accepted. Throughout this process, as frustrated as I was at times, I maintained my composure. Being ugly and disrespectful is foolish, in my opinion. However, I will never give Small Equipment Repair Company an opportunity again and do not recommend this company's service to anyone!
Description of Work: I bought a Honda Pressure Washer new in July 2012. After several uses I noticed the carburetor leaking gas; thankfully, the Honda engine was under warranty. I contacted the warranty company and obtained a list of local Service Providers that will honor the warranty. Being an admirer of small businesses I wanted to give a small business an opportunity so I selected Small Equipment Repair Company @ 8036 Hood Road in Charlotte, NC. I also have a tiller that needed servicing so I took in both pieces of equipment (Tiller & Pressure Washer) on Thursday, 8.16.2012. Upon arrival I explained the issues to Nadia and she wrote up two tickets, one for each equipment item. She made a copy of the Pressure Washer's purchase receipt for warranty purposes. She also explained that a $25.00 deposit is required on all items needing repair. Given that the tiller was not under warranty I was perfectly willing to pay the repair cost and in good faith, I provided a $25.00 deposit. I inquired about the timing and Nadia explained that both should be inspected and repair started within 2 weeks, which was 8.30.12. That sounded reasonable and Nadia stated I would be contacted within that two week period with an update. Two weeks passed and on 8.30.12, I had not heard from anyone at Small Equipment Repair Company, so I called. I spoke with Nadia and she explained that the Tiller had not been looked at but was planned to begin the week of 9.4.12. The Pressure Washer was inspected; however, they were waiting on confirmation from the warranty company that repairs will be covered. Eleven more days passed and on 9.10.12, still no word from Small Equipment Repair Company, so I called again and spoke with Bruce. He explained that work on the Tiller had not started but was 3rd in line for that same day. He didn't know if the warranty company had responded to their request and that I'd have to call back to speak with Nadia. Two days shy of 1 full month 9.14.12, after dropping the Pressure Washer and Tiller off at Small Equipment Repair Company no communication from Nadia or Bruce, so I called again. A gasket was now ordered for the Pressure Washer but no progress on the Tiller. I inquired about the prior statements that the Tiller was 3rd in line on 9.4.12, and was told Bruce had been working on other pieces of equipment but "hadn't gotten around to the Tillers" yet. On 9.18.12, Nadia phoned me (first call from Small Equipment Repair Company since the day I dropped the 2 items off. It took 1 month and 2 days for a representative of this company to initiate a communication with me). Nadia shared that the Pressure Washer was ready and warranty covered the cost. I inquired about the Tiller and she stated that the work on the Tiller had not started, but she assured me the Tiller work will begin within a couple days, so I elected to hold off and pick up both items at the same time (The company is located 40 minutes from my home and is not easy to get to as a Detour is in effect near the company). On 9.28.12, I had not been contacted by Small Equipment Repair Company so I drove to the company prepared to pick up both equipment items, even if the Tiller was not repaired. Upon arrival I spoke with Bruce and explained that I was there to pick up my Pressure Washer and Tiller. When he told me he had not yet looked at the Tiller I stated that I wanted to take it with me regardless. Given that the Pressure Washer was covered under warranty and work had not taken place on the Tiller I requested the $25.00 deposit, which was returned to me. Bruce then rolled the Tiller outside and walked back inside. I am a female (not that it should matter), but there was no offer to assist me in lifting the equipment into the back of my truck. Although I am 5' 6" and weigh 133, I do not have the strength to lift a tiller by myself. Thankfully a teenager (appeared to be a customer also) was inside so I solicited their help with the Tiller. I was able to lift the Pressure Washer myself.

The shop is kind of out in the country but it's a nice scenic drive and easy to find. Bruce is very personable and he gave us an estimated completion date which was right on target. We will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: We took our push mower in for a tuneup. He changed the sparkplug, cleaned the carb., sharpened the blade and added oil.

I DID NOT GET THE NAME OF THE GUY WHO FIRST HELPED ME, BUT HE WAS ONE OF THE OWNERS AND HE HELPED ME GET THE MOWER OUT OF THE TRUNK. HE GAVE EXCELLENT DIRECTIONS TO HIS SHOP. HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND THE WORK WAS COMPLETED WHEN HE SAID IT WOULD BE DONE. WHEN I WENT TO GO BACK AND PICK UP MY MOWER ANOTHER PERSON THAT WORKED THERE HELPED ME OUT. ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE VERY POLITE AND COURTEOUS. HE HELPED ME TO GET THE MOWER BACK INTO MY CAR ALONG WITH THE WEEDEATER. HE STARTED BOTH TOOLS UP TO SHOW ME THAT THEY WERE WORKING JUST FINE. I WAS SURPRISED AT THE BILL. IT WAS SO CHEAP TO ME BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE WORK DONE, AND NICENESS OF THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN, AND RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.
Description of Work: THEY SHARPENED THE BLADES, DID AN OIL CHANGE, AND DID SOMETHING TO THE SPARK PLUG. ALSO FIXED MY WEED EATER. I'M NOT SURE WHAT HE DID TO CORRECT THE WEEDEATER PROBLEM.
