Serpaco Painting

I am very pleased with Serpaco's results. The work was done at the beginning of January during a very cold and rainy winter. The crew worked in the cold and still got the job done in awful conditions. Chris was great to work with. He is extremely courteous and professional. He explained the issues with our house thoroughly and was very patient with me being a novice about construction. He communicated with me regularly about any changes in the scope of work since we found some surprising rot. He also kept to our budget as we were very tight with money with other repairs being done on the house. The crew was fantastic to work with - also very professional and courteous. I would recommend Serpaco because the results were fantastic and the stress of the project was minimal. The goal was to bring our 1980s house up to date and now it is modern and clean. I highly recommend Chris and his crew and will use them again.

Chris Gray and his crew were fantastic to deal with. All the workers were punctual and very professional. They did great prep work before they even started, taping and covering everything with plastic and paper. They took all of the popcorn ceiling off the two center rooms of our home, one of which is 2 1/2 stories high, the other a cathedral style ceiling. After the popcorn ceiling was off, they sanded and spackled all the ceilings and walls to perfection. Most of the taped seams between the walls and ceilings also had to be repaired. Our house has many angled walls which made the job more difficult. The Serpico team did a great job dealing with the angled walls and any unexpected problems that came up. The paint job they did after the sanding and repair was flawless. They wanted to get every ceiling and wall perfect. We are very satisfied with the final results of the job.

I cannot begin to praise this company enough. From the initial contact through final walk-through, Serpaco the finest painting company I have dealt with. Having been the general manager of a remodeling company, I am familiar with high quality (and low quality). The prep work was extensive, the trim work superb, carpentry work very good and responsiveness was unmatched. You will not be disappointed. I honestly have nothing to fault them about.

The whole experience was very positive. Mason, area manager, was great to work with and made sure the work was completed in a timely manner as I was working with a deadline. Work began within a few days of receiving the quote. Mason stopped at the house several times a day to check on the progress and talk with his Lead painter. He maintained good communication with me throughout the project. The workmanship was outstanding. I will definitely work with Serpaco Painting in the future.

I am very pleased with the job. My house looks like a new construction now. Mason, the area manager, was very professional in the handling of the job in every way. He was very helpful and answered all my questions immediately. He came to my house at least twice daily to monitor the work. Jose and his crew were the hardest working painters I have come across. Their work ethic and quality was top notch! It is a very messy job to de-texture a ceiling and the crew did everything they could to keep the dust at bay. They hung plastic from ceiling to floor in all the rooms and swept up as best as possible when done. I will not hesitate to use Serpaco again for future projects.

Their workmanship is top notch. They are not inexpensive but you get your money's worth as their quality far surpasses the norm.

This is the company that you want to do your exterior painting. I have a brick home, but needed to paint all of the trim - it hadn't been painted in at least 10 years, and possibly longer. I compared 6 Angie's List painters with available coupons, walked my property and interviewed the prospects, and selected Serpaco as the best provider. Even before the project began, Serpaco helped me with exterior issues that were not directly related to painting by recommending and communicating with a replacement window supplier to assist me with windows with wood rot. I chose the more durable Duration paint option, as this upgrade was priced well by Serpaco. Mason, who provided the quote and managed all aspects of Serpaco's service, was prompt, dependable, and looked for ways that he and his crew could provide the added-value extras that make Serpaco a top-notch selection. The crew worked long hours and carefully completed all tasks included in the quote - and more; they were diligent about painting coverage and clean-up. Jose, the crew leader, deserves special mention; his carpentry knowledge and experience was quite evident in the repairs he made and the time he spent with me talking about other repair concerns I should consider about my screens, my roof and other major house components. Jose went further, and helped me with some of these. During the walk-through he took special care to address all of my questions about sanding or paint coverage - he did not take any short-cuts. Serpaco's price was within the range of the 6 painters I interviewed - not the least, but certainly not the most. In my mind, it was clearly the best value among the painters I considered.

Mason worked closely with us to provide the initial estimate and was responsible for the project management of the job. The initial estimate was on par with others that were quoted from competing painting companies. Based on our initial discussion with Mason, we felt that Serpaco would provide the highest quality. During the project, the wood siding repairs and carpentry were extensive and not originally planned for. However, Mason was extremely transparent with regards to wood rot and the shape of the exterior which had been uncovered after the house was pressure washed and further inspected. The team was able to walk through the areas of the house that needed the attention and repair the damage. As the house was previously stained, the team applied a primer and a coat of latex paint. The finished product is amazing as the house looks as if it were new. I can't thank the team enough (Mason, Ernesto, Jose, and others) for the hard work and commitment to excellence.

Needed several projects completed on our house, exterior painting, staining of the deck and garden walls and redecorating of our garage. Mason (Area manager) provided estimates and advised of additional work that needed to be done, this included some carpentry work on door frames, window frames and windows where wood rot had been detected. The work started on time and all the workers were punctual, polite and friendly. I had problems locating new windows at a resonable price so Mason offered to help and was able to find a supplier and at a good price. Serpaco purchased the windows and installed them for me. While they were doing the exterior of the house i asked them to quote for some drywall repair on my sunroom ceiling that had been damaged, this was also completed at the same time. I was kept up to date on a daily basis by Mason and all my questions were answered on a timely basis. All of the work was of high quality, where we had some touch up or clean up to do it was taken care of straight away with no fuss, I would highly recommend Serpaco and i would definately use them again for future projects.

Wonderfull job and professionality. Mr. Chris did an accurate estimate and all the job was done as promised. The quality of their work appears to be excellent. There was a lot of attention to detail. We did have quite a bit of rotted trim and damaged siding. The workmanship on those repairs appears to be very good. Mike Abernethy was in charge of this project and was very professional, friendly, and responsive from beginning to end. The fellows in the crew were also very friendly and professional. The work was begun when promised and completed without any delays. Mike examined the house carefully at the end and pointed out the areas that needed additional attention. Their price is not the cheapest that you could find. In fact we picked Serpaco even though we had an estimate that was lower simply because we had a better impression about their proposal. We did have to have a second coat since we changed colors and that added to the cost as well. And there was a good bit of deferred maintenance that had to be taken care of. Everything was brush-painted, not sprayed. I would recommend this company if you are willing to pay for the expectation that the work will be done at a high quality.

We had Mike Abernethy of Serpaco Painting, and his excellent crew, do both the outside and inside of our home. From the estimate to the final touch-ups, we were and still are very pleased with the work. We appreciated the great attention to detail, the friendliness and professionalism of the crew, and, especially, the outcome. Our house looks brand new!

We met Chris Gray at the Home Show about a month before we moved into our new home. We chatted with him about some areas we wanted to have painted and he was incredibly helpful, informative and patient. Because Chris was so helpful and flexible, we decided to just go for it and have the house painted the weekend we were moving in. Since we weren't in the home yet, Chris wasn't able to do their standard on-site measure and estimate, but agreed to a price and time anyway. It was such a huge relief to know we were going to be able to get the painting done as soon as we moved in, instead of waiting till our home was already put together. I'm sure no other companies would've been so flexible or so accommodating. We remained in touch every step of the way and Chris provided us with fantastic support and was very quick to respond to our questions. On the day of the painting, the crew showed up early and got started right away. Our project manager Mike did a quick walk through with us and explained the whole process and timeline. The painters got to work and were meticulous in making sure they removed all the face-plates, light fixtures, filled and sanded any holes in the walls, etc... very quality work and attention to detail. When they finished Mike walked through with the crew and had them touch up any minor issues he caught. Then he walked through with us and allowed us to ask questions or point out anything we noticed that needed to be touched up...but it was as close to perfect as we could've hoped. We love our new walls, they look absolutely lovely! We were even a little nervous about one of the colors we chose because we had read online that it needed to be mixed perfectly for it to look right. Thankfully, Serpaco had it mixed perfectly and the color is even better than we hoped. We feel we got a really good value for the service. The price Chris agreed to was based on our best guess before we moved into the home. Once they arrived and measured everything it turned out the quote should've been considerably higher. Still, they honored the price agreed upon beforehand and got right to work. That kind of customer service is rare and we really appreciated it. Overall, great people, great crew, great company and a great service. Thank you Serpaco!

My husband and I recently purchased a house and wanted to have the interior and exterior painted prior to moving in. The previous paint (both interior and exterior) was poorly applied, so there were a lot of areas that needed to be corrected before painted - for example, patching drywall (interior) and replacing exterior siding. We interviewed 4 companies and decided on Chris Gray with Serpaco because he provided a competitive quote and pointed out a lot of details that the other companies we interviewed missed. Prior to doing any work Chris reviewed the details of what was going to be done so that we had a clear understanding of the process. This was very helpful as we are from New York City and have never actually owned a "house". Chris worked very closely with us throughout the process, providing daily updates as the project progressed. My husband and I would drop in periodically to check on the progress and the team working were very courteous and always took time to explain what they were doing and answer any questions. The exterior work needed was extensive. The damaged siding was replaced, properly sealed and painted. All interior and exterior paint was done by hand. We could not be more pleased with the work done. The interior looks like a brand new house and the exterior looks fantastic. In the future we will have additional work done and I will not hesitate to use Serpaco again.

Finally found a few days that it was not raining. Serpaco Painting started our job and finished on time. They did an excellent job. Not only did they paint the house and trim, but before that, they had a lot of window rot and brick mold to repair. Yes, we have wood windows !! So there was right much carpentry work to do and materials to be purchased. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. Everyone was congenial and easy to work with. We opted for the 5 year signature coating system. Mike was our contact.

My experiance was great from the start. Immediate call back from Mike A.. I had two other quotes from other companies as well. Serpaco won my bid hands down because of the attention we got from Mike. They weren't the cheapest by far but they made it work for both us and them. Mike was there everyday inspecting the work and making sure everything was getting done to my specifications ( I admit it...I'm a perfectionist!) I am ,truly, a very good painter myself...inside the house...and all this was outside in the heat and humidity ( I also admit to being a big whiney baby where heat and humidity is concerned!) so I called the pros! That's what I got too! Juan and his team worked like crazy getting everything done. It took about two weeks only because of the weather not cooperating. My trim looks wonderful. The porches turned out just great!! I would recommend Mike A. and his team very highly. They are hard, honest workers and take pride in their work....which sometimes can be rare these days. Chris's team did an excellent job. Chris came out to do the estimate himself, and was patient with us as we had a couple of other estimates scheduled. Serpaco's wasn't the lowest, but it was fair for the job, and Chris worked with us to make the job manageable for our budget. The job took one and a half days, as predicted, and we were very pleased with the professionalism of the team and the quality of the work. Chris did a final walk-through with me and all the little problem areas were fixed as we pointed them out, so there was no need for them to come back. I also felt very comfortable having these men working in my home while my husband was out of town. We would definitely call Serpaco again, and we will recommend them to our friends.

Serpaco did an outstanding job in all respects, on both the main and lower levels. The effort made and appearance of their extensive repairs were better than the original construction. They more properly anchored some loose moldings, detected and fixed tiny cracks, and found things that we didn't spot. Upon completion of the repairs, Serpaco joined us in searching all areas for any missed spots or patches that could be improved. All our (few) suggestions were greeted with immediate remediation and no defensiveness. The painting process went exactly the same. In areas where there was even a slight change in tone, two coats wer applied (this included all woodwork and ceilings). Even where we kept the identical color, if the first coat didn't quite cover to their high standards, a second coat was applied. Serpaco itself, and then with us, searched all areas thoroughly for any spots that needed touch-up. Again, these were all addressed with no defensiveness, even though we were "picky". We were very surprised in this day & age as to the very hard effort put forth at all times. Serpaco was timely, paid attention to schedules, and always offerred sensible suggestions. The painters hardly took any breaks and worked long hours. One of the owners came in to examine progress most days and there was one on-site manager there all the time. They clearly tried to do the best job possible and were proud of their work. Everything was done with the highest quality that I have experienced in my many decades of having work done in my various homes. In regard to neatness, the entire floor and shoemoldings were covered. There was only a very minor amount of small paint spots on the floors (much less than in my past experiences). What spots there were usually arose during the final touch-ups. In terms of value received relative to cost, they are clearly worth it. They weren't the highest or the lowest proposal that we got, and I think the final cost was reasonable for all of the work done (including some extras done at no more cost).

This company is fantastic. I originally called Serpaco to get a quote to have my textured/popcorn ceilings scraped and then repaired to a smooth finish. Chris was extremely thorough when he came for the estimate. I had a few other quotes from companies willing to scrape my non-asbestos ceilings, and they were reasonable. Chris talked me through the process, and explained that painting would be a far better option. I didn't even know that you could paint popcorn/textured ceilings, because I know that when they get wet, it loosens the texture and it can fall off. He said he would be happy to scrape the ceilings, but it would be a much bigger job than just a 'scrape and skim coat' to do it right. Practically every room in my house has vaulted ceilings, and the joints where the drywall meets in the vaults are totally uneven. Chris pointed out every one of these potential problem areas, so that I could fully understand why it would be such a big job to de-texturize. He explained that it would take numerous coats of drywall mud to even out the uneven bits, and if we were to scrape them and just skim coat (what all the other companies that quoted had planned to do), all the imperfections from the uneven drywall would be magnified. So, I decided to paint instead, since removing the texture would have been a much, much bigger job than I ever anticipated. Chris' entire team was extremely nice, professional, and trustworthy. If I ever need work done in the future I will feel comfortable giving them the keys to my house. They cleaned up well after each step (spraying popcorn to repair, prepping, painting). The price was more than reasonable, and Serpaco charged me for the ceiling paint at cost, which was much less that if I had bought it on my own. The areas they repaired are completely unnoticeable. My ceilings look fantastic. The ceiling that was half scraped looks completely uniform. The popcorn doesn't even bother me anymore, since it is so bright and white. It makes my house look completely different, and much lighter. I am so glad Chris fully explained the issues with scraping my ceilings, and discussed my other options. I truly believe that if I had paid someone else to scrape it and skim coat it I would not be happy with the end result.

The project was estimated in detail. The actual work was done professionally and if there was anything not covered in the original estimate, it was shown to me and approved before continuing. The workmen were professional, polite, and overall hard workers.

We met Mike Abernathy at the Southern Spring Show near the beginning of March, and we talked with him then about our project. He gave us a coupon for a little bit off of the price to come out and do an estimate. The estimate he gave was very very fair for all the work we wanted to do. There was no gasp of surprise; we were pleased that the estimate was within the ballpark of what we wanted to pay. We had Bayer paint picked out through Home Depot in the color we wanted, but Serpaco informed us that they used a different paint company. They were able to match the color very well, despite the different paint used. It ended up being just a shade lighter than we had hoped for, but is still great. The prep work is what really amazed us. They completely wrapped all of my appliances, countertops, and everything else in the kitchen, taping it all down with plastic to help guarantee that paint would not get on anything. The wallpaper took a while to get off, which required quite a bit more prep work. They sealed everything to avoid getting paint anywhere. Even the ceiling fans were very meticulously wrapped and protected. They even put up plastic over the entrance between our kitchen and dining room so that there would be no construction dust or debris getting into other rooms. A team of two gentlemen did great work for us, and were working hard all day long, starting at seven thirty in the morning, and staying until seven at night two days in a row. They started on a Monday morning, and they were basically finished Thursday night. They came back Friday morning to do any touch-up or nitpicking we needed. The work looks beautiful, and the color takes on a different shade depending on the time of day, which is pleasing. Though the color is just a bit lighter than we had wanted, this is just because of the way it dried. Mike did a great job, and gave us a satisfaction warrantee on the work for three years. Mike came to the house three times a day, including at the beginning and the close of each day, to make sure to oversee the project and make sure it went well. We were very happy. We let Mike know that when we accumulate the funds, we will be painting the remaining rooms in the house to match, and we will be calling Serpaco.

I contacted Serpaco through Angie's List and made an appointment with Chris Gray to come estimate the exterior painting I wanted done. Chris got back to me within hours and we setup the appointment. He confirmed via e-mail before the appointment to make sure I could still make it. Chris arrived on time and gave us a thorough estimate and understanding of what was and was not covered. Serpaco broke the price out into labor, materials, carpentry and paint. I like the transparency of their pricing. You see what you are buying. I do a lot of my own home maintenance and if you think you can get everything the first time around when you are painting you can expect a CYA price from the company. Serpaco doesn't work that way. Chris explained that they may find things that needed to be done beyond what he estimated and also if what he estimated wasn't needed we would get the credit for that. The job went smoothly and Serpaco worked through some tough times with the weather to get us completed. Sure enough some additional carpentry needed to be added and others didn't need to be done as expected. Chris communicated throughout the entire process by e-mail, text, phone. Whatever was necessary to keep me informed. The painters and carpenters were professional and friendly. The work quality is excellent. They used Sherwin Williams paints. The best there is. When we settled on the final bill there were no surprises. Serpaco did some additional coats on several of the windows/doors/gables that they felt needed them. That could have been an extra charge but wasn't. The deal was fair and all of the material costs were shown including receipts. I like the way they do business.

The Serpaco team did a great job from quote to final walk through. The quality of work was excellent. This two story home that I just recently bought sat empty for nearly 1 year with no maintenance. Now it looks like the new house on the block! The guys showed up every morning and worked until dark. They finished the job in just 6 days.

The quote process went very smoothly and was very informative. The supervisor was very clear - both orally and in writing - on what we could expect and how the process would be carried out. We are ecstatic with the results. Our house looks like a brand new home. The most impressive part is that the whole job only took 3 1/2 days and was started within a week of our initial contact with Serpaco. The Serpaco team went above and beyond in the following ways: - They agreed to use more colors than were originally quoted without raising the price. - The supervisor and crew were very willing to offer creative suggestions and give their opinions on our color schemes options. - They painted the outside door and a panel on the front porch (on their own); neither of which was charged. - They offered and fixed the steps of my deck for a nominal fee.
