Description of Work: I had a window installed in the basement, which included cutting away the side of the house for the window, building the frame for the window, as well as moving a King stud to another location and replace the siding on the outside.

 + -1 moreExcellent! After reviewing my projects with Daniel, he started work immediately and did not stop until the end of the day. After he finished working in a specific area, he cleaned up, and I could not even tell he had been there! He is a skilled craftsman and a gentleman.
Description of Work: I had several projects to be performed: clean and check gutters, repair crawl space door and replace hinges, sand, caulk and paint peeling trim around skylight, reattach loose shutter over garage, adjust 3 sets of french doors and 2 regular doors to close properly, replace wood that had dry rot on a couple of windows and paint trim.

Description of Work: Gutted complete bathroom in a 1952 house and remodeled from the studs. Design based on options provided for a small space. The result was a bathroom that is roomier than before and more attractive.

He was on time and very knowledgeable. There were a few things that I wanted done that he recommended that I not do and I'm grateful that he said that.
Description of Work: Daniel, one of the employees, came and did a days worth of handyman jobs at my house. He installed shelfs, changed shower heads, fixed faucets, patch a whole in the wall, he changed and added locks to the doors, and other odd and assorted things.

 + 1 moreThis company is very prompt and professional; they happily came out and gave us an estimate when we had struggled to find anyone else to consider this small job. On the day of the job, Daniel came out with everything he needed to include a portable workshop. He built a custom wood frame to support the cabinets while he hung them. Very impressive, thorough and professional. Will definitely use again. Pricey, but worth it, if only just to get the project done well and done quickly.
Description of Work: Hung two kitchen cabinets - included measuring and cutting crown molding and additional spacer; patched a drywall hole in the ceiling where a recessed light had been.

 + -1 moreThroughout the whole process, Case was exceptionally responsive and professional. They worked with me to design the gates in a way that worked best with the existing front porch. This was the first time I used Case and would recommend them to anyone looking for professional, high quality work. I think the work that Case performed for me was very fairly priced, as I received a few other quotes. I also received quotes from Case for a few other jobs and they were higher priced than most. My sense is that Case is high quality and priced to match, and so if you are price sensitive and have a job that doesn't require the responsiveness/quality/service that Case provides, then it could make sense to go with a lower-priced/less professional provider.
Description of Work: Case built custom gates for the 2 entrances on my front porch. The gates were built and painted to match the existing styling of the porch railings. The work required roughly 2 days time.

 + 0 moreIt went great. Craig came and gave me an estimate, but more importantly told me that what I wanted to have done in some cases could not be done, but gave good suggestions. Ken, who did all the work, was superb. He did all the work himself. He was a professional and calm when he ran into problems. This is a 45 year old house and he did run into problems, especially with the installation of the ceiling fans. Was always on time and went right to work. He also explained everything he was doing and why. His finished work was wonderful.
Description of Work: Crown molding, picture framing, installation of ceiling fans in den, kitchen and hallway flooring.

 + -1 moreHaving been through remodeling before, no project is without problems. Tom, the lead carpenter, provided excellent customer service, communication, work ethic, and skills. The project ran longer than expected due to some issues with the plumbing subcontractors. Case was responsive in correcting any problems, and I am happy with the end product. The only change I would like to see is having a set project manager on site during the entire project so the communication lines are more clear.
Description of Work: Totally gutted the master bathroom and enlarged it.

 + 3 moreDaniel was great. Very punctual and professional. Definitely experienced and knew what he was doing. Did not charge me for a couple of trips to get the right ladders/scaffolding-that was most appreciated. Highly recommend Case based on this experience.
Description of Work: On an almost 30 foot vaulted ceiling, replaced a ceiling fan and removed an old track lighting fixture. Spackled and painted. Had to rent interior scaffolding to get to the ceiling. Also replaced another ceiling fan with a light fixture and wired an electrical switch.

 + 0 moreExcellent. Case sent out a guy named Ken who was fantastic. Straight-shooter, very knowledgeable, takes much pride in his work....can't go wrong with this guy. With 25 years of experience, it was clear he knew what he was doing. Not to mention friendly, easy-going attitude. I also received the same professionalism from the individual I spoke with on the phone. Case won an award with Angie's list in 2006...I can see why. Again, excellent service and quality.
Description of Work: Corrected various problems around the home including warped wood in the basement, investigated a leak in the roof among other small problems.

 + 3 moreCase was very good with the prep & letting me know where things stood all through the process. They specified how much lead time they needed for each decision so that they could keep to the schedule. John(who did the large majority of the work)always let me know if he would be later arriving than expected etc. This is a simple thing that isn't done by most service providers! The quality of work was very good. The one problem I had was with the costing of tile for one of the bathrooms. The end cost for this was significantly higher than the original estimate-their logic for estimating their original estimate was flawed. I chose a slightly higher priced tile & expected to pay a slight increase for it. I expected $100-200 additional, but the price increased by over $900. I disputed the cost(w/logic & calculations)and they did cut the price accordingly.
Description of Work: Remodeled 2 bathrooms in typical 1975 house. Included new tub/shower, tile, toilet, paint, countertops.

 + 3 moreJohn Jones, who did virtually all the work, is fantastic; he was punctual, well-informed, courteous, and a real pleasure to work with. He was very patient with us in making any changes we wanted, and the quality of his work is excellent. The management guys above him were very informative and helpful, but if there is anything we would grade down, it was their significant lack of communication with us. Luckily, John did such a good job, we really didn't need to involve his bosses, but we were really surprised at how little they interacted with us. The job has now been completed 60+ days, and other than John coming by one last time to finish up a few things, we have yet to hear from anyone at Case to ask us how we like the job, any problems, etc. This would be my only concern about using them again if we had problems. I would be concerned over how quickly they would be addressed. Otherwise, we are extremely pleased with the result. Regarding pricing, we got a very poor response from most of the other contractors we called initially (who were also from Angie's List). I was impressed with Case from our first contact, and since the other contractors were so unresponsive, Case was the only bid we ended up getting. As a result, we are not able to compare their pricing with that of any other company.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of master bathroom. Replaced all fixtures, floor, lighting, counter, etc. Created new walk-in shower. The only thing we didn't do was move any walls.

Description of Work: Secured 2 shutters, caulked entire Master bath and water closet, leveled Master Bath door, and cleaned between beveled mirror and ceramic countertop on both vanities in Master Bath and caulked with clear. Repaired and secured curtain rod in Guest Bedroom. Repaired and painted settling cracks in Master Closet. After digging out rotten wood, window seals were filling heavily with bond-o, then caulked, and painted 4 window seals. Repaired chip on floor molding.

 + -1 moreOn our initial call, Logan Ertz, took his time to carefully explain the company's price structure and what type of work they could do. We had built a list of several projects and he knew his business well enough to guess-timate both time and feasibility. We set an appointment for the next week. When his schedule was shortened on the day of the appointment, Daniel, the serviceman, called to ask if he could come earlier - which worked fine for us. From the moment he arrived, Dan was 'on-the-job'. He listened carefully to the priority order of our list and began the repairs right away. He handled many more items than we expected and we were very pleased with the quality of the work. We have already started building our next list and will definitely call Case again.
Description of Work: Installed three exterior decorative lights (we had purchased ahead of time); balanced a wobbly ceiling fan; examined, repaired and rewired a 'mystery' exterior wall plate which turned out to be a perfectly good exterior outlet; adjusted a stubborn stuck shed door and frame and installed new hardware and lock; fixed inside shed light fixture and switch.

The work was completed in the time frame that it was estimated and only a small increase in the cost of the work was not the fault of Case. We are on a slab and there was some additional work needed to line up the piping and drain (only $300 price difference).
Description of Work: We had a cracked fiberglass tub/shower unit removed and replaced with a cultured marble shower w/full length doors.

They were skilled, responsive, worked smart, and so respectful of the fact they were someone's home. They were dedicated to remaining on time. They were good about shepherding the project, needed no guidance from us.
Description of Work: I had him do a complete demolition and remodeling of the kitchen. He also took out a load bearing wall in the living room. He also worked to open up a stair case. He flipped a closet to open from the other side and many other jobs.

 + -1 morePlease see previous explanation of my experience. The serviceman was very, very punctual, which I appreciate. Nothing against the serviceman personally, he certainly seemed to work consistently and didn't "goof off." Maybe my experience was an anomaly but, I wouldn't recommend them based on my experiences and won't be using them again.
Description of Work: I contracted for 1/2 day for $350.00 after getting a telephonic estimate of how much time my tasks would require. I had a list of 1) installing, 2) ceiling fans, 2 hanging some heavy pictures and mirrors, 3) drilling a hole in brick near front door for a decorative "Welcome" wooden sign, 4) install a bracket to hang an American flag. I thought 1/2 of a day didn't sound like enough time but, that's what Logan booked me for. At any rate, the gentleman who came was very punctual but, took the entire time to install the 2 ceiling fans. This also included my having to make about 3 quick trips to Home Depot for additional installation needs while the serviceman was there. He was packing up to go, winding up his electric drill, and I thought he was going outside to begin installing the flagpole bracket. When I asked him if this was the case, he said he was leaving because he had another appointment. I wonder when he was going to inform me that he'd be leaving? Needless to say, I was summarily unimpressed and don't feel I got my moneys worth. I used them because they were rated so highly here on Angie's List, and because they honored the Angie's List coupon. But, I would rather have paid more, skip the coupon and gotten my necessary tasks accomplished. Also, I'd like to add that I'm anything but a "crank", and am usually quite easy to please.

 + -1 moreOverall I was very pleased with my experience. I was met for an estimate soon after placing my initial phone call. I was quoted at 2 days of labor with a possibility of less. We set up the work days for the following week (would have been sooner if not a holiday weekend when I called). The man who performed the work was punctual, professional and knew what he was doing. I felt comfortable at all times having him in my house. Labor (total cost) worked out to 1.5 days, right on as quoted.
Description of Work: Worked to complete a shelving/storage project in garage. Drywall and shelf installation.

 + -1 moreIt was pretty good. Some of the small work they did wasn't that great and I think that is because the person who did it was more of a big project kind of person. It wasn't that bad though and I didn't even notice some of it until later. They were pleasant to deal with and worked on schedule.
Description of Work: They replaced part of the drywall of the ceiling, fixed some siding, jacked up the floor, patched some holes, put door stops in, replaced some cocking, and fixed a door.
