I scheduled my appointment with Mike for 8 AM on Friday morning. He arrived early, but was waiting to come and knock, just to make sure we were up and ready for him. We have 17 year old systems that are still working, but one has been struggling for the past year or so. Our downstairs cools beautifully but as soon as you hit the landing of our steps heading upstairs in the summer, there is a 15 degree difference and you're smacked in the face by the insane humidity. The day before he came out, the downstairs of our home was 68 degrees and upstairs it was 80. With that said, I was a little terrified that were going to have to replace one of the units; an expense that we definitely were not prepared for! Mike came out and checked out everything, and found that the drain line for the upstairs system was plugged which was causing the float switch to activate intermittently during operation, so our unit was not able to run a full cycle. Mike quickly diagnosed the problem and explained every piece to me, explaining that it was probably rust that was clogging the line, and that it could be a tough clog to break, but he could do it. While he didn't say it, it was very clear that he planned to stay until he had it fixed. After a bit, he was able to unclog the pipe and told me to let him know if clearing it helped. I am THRILLED to say that when I arrived home yesterday afternoon after work, our upstairs was a COOL 69 DEGREES. It was AMAZING! During the entire interaction with Mike, he never once mentioned replacing our old units until I asked about what I would want to prepare for if I had to. Mike is so kind, is so knowledgeable, and really strives to do the best he can for you. It is very clear that he is a small business owner that really cares about what he does. I can say with complete confidence that we have found our HVAC guy, and will be going to him with any other issues that we have!

Great experience. Found the problem right away. Mike gave us a lot of information on our AC unit and was very knowledgeable. A lifesaver that they were open on Sunday.

I called Real Cool Sunday morning at 7 am. Mike was on his was to two other calls and said he should be able to be at my house by 12 pm. After asking a few questions, he quoted me an estimate of $190.00 over the phone to replace the capacitor and that was the price I paid. He called me at 10:20 and said he was finished with the two previous calls and should be at my house by 10:40. He arrived right on time. He proceeded to do a thorough check of my system and found the capacitor was indeed the problem. He replaced it and my unit started running immediately. After checking my freon level, Mike said it was a bit low and even added a little freon at no charge. Mike was polite, courteous, professional and honest. I will never call another heating and cooling company. There was not even an extra charge for Sunday service. I never give testimonials, but was so impressed by Mike that I just had to. Call Real Cool and I promise, you will not regret it.

Mike was very professional and helpful. Discussed our situation and gave us very good suggestions. Mike called to tell us approximately when he would arrive and was at the house when he said he would be. We were very satisfied with Mike and the work he performed. We would definitely use Real Cool again and would highly recommend them.

Both of my AC units went down on the hottest day of the year and I called Real Cool, they were able to come out on the same day! Mike was very informative and detailed, he evaluated the situation and was able to pin point the problem, both units needed capacitors and one unit needed Freon. In addition a thorough cleaning was done! This company was great from the very beginning, Sonia setup the appointment and instructed me what to do!! I would definitely use them again! Thanks!!!

First of all, Mike was right on time....not early nor late. He was here precisely(I love that!) when Sonia said he would be here. He placed shoe covers on his feet before entering and was extremely professional throughout the repair. He identified the malfunction(s), had the part with him on his truck, and wasted no time in getting the repairs completed. Outside the scope of the repair itself, he made fine-tuning adjustments to my system while he waited for the system to cycle through so he could test and measure. He was extremely thorough from start to finish, relaying updates and observations pertinent to the overall health of my system. A couple of times, I witnessed Mike "re-doing" to his satisfaction what previous repairmen had done or failed to do. lI believe I am spoiled from this point forward. I refuse to consider another company for any of my HVAC repairs ever again. I only hope I will be able to convince Mike and Sonia to move with me if my family ever has to relocate.

Josh and Mike came out early in the am and finished the full job by around 7 that night. they were professional, efficient, diligent to work with. I am pleased completely with their service as well as the product they provided for our home. I would recommend them highly to anyone that needs heating/ac work done whether replacement or repair.

Mr Atkinson (Mike) was very professional and extremely knowledgable--it is obvious he cares very much about his work. When he was done, I was emailed a detailed report of his findings and any necessary recommendations for maintenance or repairs. Look no further, I have already done the research and tried others. Very impressed and will use for future service of HVAC needs.

Mike was prompt and thorough. I was very impressed with his professionalism. I felt I was fairly charged for the work done. I plan to have him fix several problems caused by the shoddy installation of the company we had formerly utilized.

We have had Real Cool perform our annual maintenance and any repairs since we moved to Charlotte in 2007. We called to make our appointment this year and we were informed that the annual maintenance plan cost had been reduced by almost 20%. This is just one more reason we would never take our business to anyone else. We have never felt like Mike pushes, promotes or advertises for anything. Mike's knowledge is key to why we feel confident in his service. We know we can rely on him and his team to look out for our best interest and not in making a "sale". Mike and his team consistently provide a high quality of service. Mike can not have all the credit though. Behind the scenes keeping everything running is his wife Sonia. She is fantastic as well and should be given full credit for all of her hard work.

Mike and his wife Sonia run an outstanding business. With regards to customer service, response time, price competitiveness, keeping the customer informed and getting the job done in a timely manner they are superior. Mike first helped me make an educated decision on which model was right for my home within my budget. Sonia sent me a lot of material and answered questions very patiently. He helped maximize my federal energy tax credit by getting the job done prior to the end of the year, which was important to me. He was on time and got the job done in said time frame. He ended up upgrading my furnace at no cost to me because the local Lennox provider did not have the furnace I wanted in stock and I wanted to get this install done that week. I am extremely happy with the performance of the new furnace. His timely service ensured that my family was comfortable through the winter months. After installation, Sonia sent me very clear emails advising on what I needed to do to get the energy rebate from the local energy company and what I needed to do for the state inspection. It was very timely and hassle free. Never in my years of getting service though Real Cool have I felt pushed by them as you often do by contractors. They understood that I had an older furnace and had the need to keep it going for a while. Mike's HVAC knowledge is key to why I feel confident in his service. I know I can rely on this team to look out for my needs and am overall very happy with their consistency and high quality of service.

I have multiple older units that needed repairs and maintenance. I have used Real Cool twice and think their service is superior to any of the other providers. Mike is a person of integrity and pride . He provides a quality service at fair and reasonable prices. Would recommend Real Cool and plan to keep on using them!

Mike was a huge help when our heater went out on what was reported as "the coldest night of the year" by the newscasters. Of course, we panicked and called Mike at 5:00 PM on Friday evening. These things always seem to happen at 5:00 on Friday evening!! He was at our house within 1.5 hours with flashlight in hand to find out what was wrong. Unfortunately for us, the draft inducer motor had burned out (leaving a burned smell at our outside unit). Mike didn't have that particular replacement part for our unit, so we had to wait until Monday. However, bright and early on Monday morning one of Mike's crew members went somewhere to pick up the part and had it installed and running by Monday lunchtime. I'm not sure how much something like this normally costs. We paid around $750 for the part and service. It seems a bit high, but it was worth the price for the professionalism and prompt service of Mike and his team. Mike took his time with me, explained everything I needed to know and I will definitely use Real Cool again in the future!

Mike and his team at Real Cool team are outstanding! I used Angie's list to identify three of the very best HVAC companies based upon their rating, customer reviews and BBB ratings. All three companies sent out representatives and provided free written price quotes. However, Mike's was, by far, the most detailed and competitive. I'm very analytical and like to know exactly what is being done -- especially on a purchase of this magnitude. Not knowing too much about HVAC, I used the differences between the estimates to ask questions and find out why some companies didn't spell out the details that Mike had provided. There was nothing on Mike's estimate that needed to be clarified or corrected. I wish I could say the same about the other companies as there were several important aspects that weren't adequately stated on their quotes. For example, not all of them were energy star compliant, listed the exact equipment to be installed, provided the AHRI reference number (very important), and didn't accurately describe how the venting would be modified for the new unit. Mike's estimate became the benchmark as everything he stated was easily verified and provided up front. Frankly, I'm hiring an expert and don't think I should have to go digging for answers/details that should have been provided up front. Once the other companies adjusted their estimates so that I could do a true apples-to-apples comparison, I decided to go with Real Cool. I will say, Mike's estimate was $300 higher than the least expensive. However, I made the decision to pay slightly more and select Real Cool for the following reasons; 1) Mike's estimate was accurate and detailed right from the beginning. 2) Mike said he'd be on-site and actually doing the installation. This was very important to me as I prefer to have the person that was involved in our discussion performing the work to make sure there isn't any misunderstandings. 3) The other companies made me nervous/suspicious when I, as a homeowner unfamiliar with HVAC (I am now), have to investigate and ask questions about the work they are quoting. We scheduled an installation date/time and Mike and Stan showed up early (not always the case with other service providers nowadays) but waited until 8 am to knock on the door. Very respectful of our time. They are very professional, organized and know exactly what they are doing. The installation was very smooth and Mike took the time to walk me through the details of the work they had done and how things work after they were finished. They provided me with all the appropriate documentation (receipts, AHRI certificate, and warrantee information) so I can obtain the Federal Tax rebate and submitted the appropriate paperwork to Duke power for their rebate. I can't say enough great things about Mike and his crew and feel even more comfortable with the decision to use Real Cool to install my HVAC system.

It went great. Mike, the owner, came out and performed the service himself. He was very thorough with both the inside and outside units. He takes his time to explain everything so we understand what he did. He also paints a clear picture of what to look for in the future and why. He is very prompt, does a great job, and I would highly recommend them.

The first call I made was for a clogged drainage pipe which has flooded the hallway in front of the mechanical closet about a year ago. The second call was more recent and due to the recent storms was related to a power surge which fried (layman's term) the condenser and wiring on the outside unit. Both issues were resolved with the first appointment of the following day. (We discover all of our problem on Sunday evenings, it seems.) The owner was the technician on the most recent call. He and the other two servicemen I have met were pleasant to deal with and thorough in all explanations. Work was completed efficiently with no follow-up issues. It is also worth mentioning that since both our calls were on Sunday nights, Mike (owner) answered the calls himself and gave troubleshooting help over the phone so that no further damage would occur. Nice.
