Description of Work: I was not happy with the sub-contractor from Queen City Plumbing sent out to perform the services. |I believe he may have checked everything out on the hot water heater, but, I felt he was really pushing for us to get a new hot water heater at the cost of $1,800.00. |I showed him I had a coverage service we have been paying through Duke Energy. He looked it over and said it was for an electric hot water heater and we had gas. So he indicated again that he would be able to get a gas hot water heater installed the next day---for $1,8000.00. Because he found a leak on the hot water heater, I was nervous that we were in need of a new one. |It was pretty much set up that he would come in the morning and install the new hot water heater and take the old one out. |After he left, I called Duke energy about the service I have been paying for over the last year and 3 months. I told them I didn't realize the coverage was for and 'electric' hot water heater and we had gas. The gal pulled up our service plan and told me it was indeed for gas! It has the gas listed on the contract that I showed the guy that came. To be honest, I didn't notice it at first, either. But, it was listed on the front page. |I called the guy back (I think his name was Shawn?) and told him we were going too have the service people come and check out to see if we needed a 'new' water heater. The service man that came out said although the heater is 13 years old, he didn't seem to think we needed one at this time. He told us what troubles to look | for if the hot water heater would need to be replaced. He did replace that valve that was leaking. | While waiting for the service provider to come and check the hot water heater, I looked on line at Lowes and also Sears. Most all of the hot water heaters were on sale at tremendously low prices. I am sure we would have been able to purchase one and have it installed at a much lower price than what was quoted by the plumbing company. |Of course, if it would have needed to be replaced, our Service Plan would have covered it and we would have used the to install a new one. |I would suggest to IRV not to hire a subcontractor, that I feel, is trying to get more money out of a product and service when a product does not need replaced right at that time. | |I 'DO' plan on using IRV for electrical services in the near future. The gals that answer the phone are very nice and helpful!

Description of Work: Our hot water heater was checked & flushed. All valves were checked throughout the house, including the supply to the house. He was very personable, & explained what he was doing. He answered my husband's questions satisfactorily. He recommended we eventually purchase a new hot water heater, as ours has exceeded the usual lifetime expectancy, & gave us a rough estimate of cost.
