Very well. I like the way it turned out. The workers were very nice and professional. I would call him again if I need any remodeling done.
Description of Work: Converted an upstairs loft into a bedroom. Included two walls, a door, extra electrical outlets and moving the light switches.

Don & Jim were referred to me by friends who had used them in the past. I'm so glad we found Don & Jim, they have done such great work on our house thus far! They completely renovated our laundry room from the studs to the cabinets to the light fixture. They took a really terrible room and turned it into something beautiful that we love using! Jim is great at what he does, is good at communicating as the job goes on, and is just a nice guy. We never worried about having them in our home and knew our project was in good hands. Since the completion of our laundry room, Jim has come out to hang some light fixtures and fixed an electrical problem, which he did really well. Our house is a definite fixer upper and we intend to use Don & Jim for every little thing we need!
Description of Work: Don, Jim, and their crew took our horrible, hideous, mouse-infested laundry room and turned it into a beautiful space that we are happy to use!

Description of Work: Excellent job refitting custom kitchen cabinets to accommodate new larger fridge. As usual, they used great attention to detail and listened to what our opinions were, so we were extremely happy with the result. I cannot say enough about these guys! They are the best!

Don Martin was recommended by a painter whom we had used before whose work we really liked. He was described as honest, professional, and a "good guy". He was all those things. He helped us make some decisions as to how to proceed with our remodeling by explaining the pros and cons of ideas we had and providing us with detailed estimates. He worked with us on compromises when we needed to keep within a budget. Don and Ted came on time every day, cleaned up each day before they left, and were extremely polite and considerate. They worked with us for more than a week and were always professional and friendly. We would highly recommend them to anyone considering them.
Description of Work: 1. Helped in design and ideas about how to remodel 2. Built extra cabinet and wine rack to extend kitchen island to our specs 3. Added trim and design features to current cabinets to update before being painted 4. Installed under counter electric lights 5. Installed plumbing for kitchen sink: new faucet, disposal unit, counter-flush button, accessories 6. Installed new slate backsplash with stylish "wraparound" feature into the window.

Final results are exceptionally nice. A really first class job all around. Work was done in a timely fashion (with exception of electrical and that contractor was terrible.) Be sure if you use this General contractor that you avoid him using Southeastern Electrical Services as a sub. Also, best results will be obtained by advance agreement on all details including start and finish dates.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel. This was the general contractor and he subed most work other than carpentry and tile. With the exception of his electrical contractor (Southeastern Electrical), the subs were excellent and did fine work. The carpentry & tile was done by his employee and we couldn't have asked for better. They tore the kitchen down to the bare walls and sub floor, installed cabinets, countertops, appliances, built a half bath moved walls and doors, installed porcelian tile floor and back splash, sinks, comode, lighting, moved heating ducts, etc., etc. They were very clean and very polite and very punctual.

This was a very slow and drawn out project. We first talked to Don in May and the actual demolition took place on November 19th. From the start it seemed like we were the ones that had to get and keep things moving. Don admittedly stays overbooked with only two employees that we saw during the entire project except for himself. It seemed most of the time, except for the shower and tile installation, the only way to get things going was to call and complain. Then things would pick up for a day or so. But then we would get put on the back burner again soon after. We had a couple of heated discussions. These were brought on by the frustration of the job taking so long, some poor workmanship and budget going over by 20%. The few bright spots were his tile man, Jim, who did outstanding work. The other subs were excellent as well. They actually saved the job. We found our own painter who was great also. Don would not use a professional plumber though I suggested it.
Description of Work: We contracted Don Martin to handle our master bathroom remodeling job. This included all aspects of a total remodel, except painting which he does not include, but offered to help us find a painter. Bathroom was torn out completely, tile floor installed, plumbing redone, a few walls modified, shower area tiled and frameless glass shower enclosure installed. Window over former tub area removed. Wall was bricked up and multi-textured glass privacy window installed. Electricians rewired some areas for lights, fan, vanity lights and sconces which they installed later. Don gave us the name of a granite company to measure and install the granite. We used a friend that does woodwork to build our vanities which we saved over $2000 dollars instead having factory-built vanities. These were installed by the cabinet maker.

Response from Professional Home Remodeling & Repair Inc
WAS SORRY TO READ THE COMMENTS WRITTEN BY THE MEMBER ABOUT OUR COMPANY. I COULDN'T DISAGREE MORE. HE DOESN'T MENTION THAT THERE WAS AN INTERIOR DESIGNER INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT, WHICH ADDED TIME TO THE PLANNING PERIOD. THE FACT THAT WE STAY BOOKED AHEAD AS THE MEMBER MENTIONED IS THE RESULT OF THE VALUE AND QUALITY THAT WE OFFER. THE FINAL ESTIMATE GIVEN TO THE MEMBER ON NOV. 8TH PRIOR TO STARTING THE JOB WAS FOR $15,284 WHICH WAS EXACTLY WHAT WE CHARGED. IF THE AMOUNT EXCEEDED HIS BUDGET HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD US NOT TO START ON NOV. 19. HE DIDN'T MENTION THAT HIS FRIEND WHO CONSTRUCTED THE CABINETS MADE ONE OF THEM TOO SHORT BUT HE DID MENTION THAT HE SAVED $2000. WE WOULD HAVE COMPLETED THE JOB IN LESS THAN 8 WEEKS WHICH IS REASONABLE, CONSIDERING HOLIDAYS, FOR THE SCOPE OF THE JOB. THE CABINET COULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AS IT WAS BUT IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT IT'S MORE IMPORTANT TO DO IT RIGHT EVEN IF IT TAKES LONGER. IT WAS THE MEMBER'S DECISION TO HAVE THE CABINET REMADE WHICH I WOULD HAVE DONE. THE OVERALL QUALITY OF THE WORK COMPLETED BY OUR COMPANY AND SUBS WERE SUPERIOR AND HANDLED PROFESSIONALLY AND TIMELY. I FOUND THE MEMBER'S FRUSTRATION THROUGHOUT THE JOB IRRATIONAL AND UNREASONABLE BUT CONTINUED TO STAY POSITIVE TO COMPLETE THE JOB. OUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND INTEGRITY IS HOW WE HAVE GROWN OUR BUSINESS. WE HAVE CONSISTENTLY EXCEEDED OUR CUSTOMERS EXPECTATIONS AND HAVE AN OUTSTANDING REPUTATION THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. THIS CAN BE SUBSTANTIATED BY OUR REFERENCES.

Overall, Don and his right hand man Jim, did an outstanding job! I don't think the complexity of our project was figured into the original quote, so there was a pretty big variance between the initial & final price ($5000). That said, Don did the best from what he could see the first time through. Don's right hand man Jim (does all of his tile work) is absolutely one of the best tile installers I have ever met. If you look at the before and after pictures I'll attach, you'll see the quality and precision of their work. Great work overall, great ideas and suggestions on remodeling a bath. Fantastic tile work. Have to be honest here - they were a little slow. The original estimate was that it would take 3-4 weeks and it took twice that. But, I'd rather have someone take the time to do it right the first time and that's exactly what they did. Also, they were a bit messy throughout the project, should have put up some barriers to keep the dust & dirt contained.
Description of Work: Complete tear out and remodel of our Master bathroom. The shower in our Master Bath was originally installed without the proper "liner". After eight years of water leaking through a number of spots in the shower base (that we were unaware of), we discovered a number of problems while working on another project in the crawl space of our house. Don was prompt in coming to our house and getting us the initial estimate to fix all the issues in our Master Bath. Due to the scope of work that needed to be done, the initial quote was really just a starting point to the final solution. Don and his crew removed the original shower, ALL of the original floor and wall tiles, old drywall around the shower, a portion of one wall, all the plumbing from the old shower, the sub-floor and 10 floor joists!! Then, replaced everything from the ground up (literally). New floor joist, sub-floor, tile backer (floor & walls), built a new (much larger) shower base and re-tiled the entire bath.

Description of Work: Mr. Martin was very pleasant and very creative in his suggestions for remodeling my master bathroom. The space is peculiar and the options were ''wide open''. Compared to others, his bid was lower and the amount of work involved greater. I was fairly concerned about the degree of plumbing rearrangement involved in his plan. When I emailed him with some additional info provided by my plumber and a suggestion that we stay closer to the original plumbing blueprint he did not reply. The lack of timely to and from dialog was the major reason I elected to go with another company. I know I am not in his major service area so non-response may have been his polite way of saying ''don't want the job''. ($10,000.00)
