For the upstairs shower the contractor used silicone which was fine. However he proceeded to use the silicone around every single wall in the bathroom - not part of the plan. The silicone was not feathered in, he literally laid the silicone caulk in and did not smooth it out. Upon leaving he stated the caulk would sink in and 'disappear', it did neither. He put in a very thick line everywhere, its extremely visible, lumpy, and inconsistent. Furthermore, the areas calked were not cleaned prior to application, so dust, dirt, and hair were pasted in. Upon asking about this he stated 'it was the nature of the beast'. Then wanted to charge me for the repair of his own work. Additionally the door sweep had not been finished since an additional part was needed. After many texts and phone calls we simply asked him not to come back. He had paid in full, it was absolute substandard work, and the door sweep was not finished. We decided that even though he had been paid in full this situation would become worse not better. We could not get him to understand how poor quality the work was.
Description of Work: We asked for a variety of items to be repaired, three of which were an outside door sweep, we had an upstairs shower that was leaking to the downstairs, and requested two other bathroom have some areas sealed in the shower/bath.

We closed on our new home on 6/7/13. Two days before we were notified by our real estate agent that the roof sprung a leak, but the owners had it repaired and would have the supporting documentation at the closing. As our attorney went through the closing papers, he gave us a receipt from the roofing contractor and a paint contractor who was hired to correct the bathroom ceiling stains resulting from the leak. The attorney stated that the painting had not been done due to the schedule conflict of the contractor, but it was prepaid and all we needed to do was call the painter when we were ready to have the job completed. The contract verified the claim. We called the roofing contractor, from the closing office and verified that indeed the problem was minor and had been repaired, and the roof was in great condition overall. In fact, we had been given a prepaid, one year maintenance agreement with the repair. We closed on the house with confidence that the former owners had taken the steps to resolve an unfortunate situation. When we moved in, we had work done to bring the house up to our needs and unfortunately the master bath took four months to accomplish. Obviously we didn?t want the ceiling painted until the work was completed due to debris and possible new damage. I called Mr. James Griffith of Pro-Clean Charlotte to complete the contract. He said he didn?t think that he had been paid and that the invoice I referred to was only an estimate. I replied that I understood that the time elapsed and normal business function could put a strain on the memory, but I read him the notes on the contract and agreed to the fact that he needed to check his files for his copy of the agreement. Mr. Griffith promised to call me back when he reviewed his paperwork. A week later, still no contact, so I phoned Mr. Griffith again. This time he stated that he felt he probably already did the job and I may be calling to have a new issue corrected since so much time has elapsed. He asked me to get in touch with the former owner and have him call Mr. Griffith to discuss this issue. Why this was necessary I didn?t understand, but I said I knew of a neighbor who was close to the former owner and may be able to contact him even though they moved to another area in the state. After discussing the phone call with my wife, she asked why we would want a hostile supplier in our house to do any work. I had to agree. I called Mr. Griffith back, got his answering service and left a message. I said that since he didn?t trust his own contract or us, he could consider the money paid to him a gift. We would have someone else do the job and pay again. If a supplier?s word is no good, his services are probably not any better.
Description of Work: Failed to execute a signed contract.

Response from PRO-CLEAN
I was contracted to "pressure wash" Mr. Plezia's home and that's what my company did. He didn't contract to have his home "hand washed." I was instructed to contact Mrs. Plezia upon completion which I did, she came, inspected and consumated the contract with payment. That evening I was contacted by Mr. Plezia and was berated with language I won't repeat. I was even called a liar. He's very lucky it was over the phone. Matter at hand: he contracted me to pressure wash his house, not hand wash it. We did, it was inspected and we were paid. There are people like Mr. Plezia that want to receive labor and compensation for nothing. They hire companies and don't plan on being pleased. I'm an old dog at these practices and will not be taken in by someone like Mr. Plezia. He will not prosper from me with his methods of doing business. I contacted the paint contractor that painted his house and he stated Mr. Plezia did the same thing to him, as he ended up demanding wood replacement with no compensation, in order to be paid the remaining amount. I didn't need his business or references and thought I was doing him a favor working him into my schedule. He seemed like a nice guy, but oh how we can be deceived! As far as his ratings, they are completely obsurd and really don't offend me or my employees. To us, this is a separate issue to be taken care of internally. James Griffith-Owner 3/4/06
