Someone came out and was on time. But, after not hearing from them for almost a month, I received a call from the manager who said that person was let go. I paid $450 for a landscape design. Someone else was supposed to come out at 10am on a Friday two weeks later. At 10:15 I didn't hear anything and called the main office. They said there was a glitch in their scheduling system and refunded my $450. The person that I spoke with was very apologetic and still wanted to send someone out for free. Finally someone comes out about 45 minutes later. I told them I wanted a design that wouldn't cost more than $10,000 to plant / install. Two weeks later I get a design that would cost me $20,000 to plant / install! When I asked about it, he said that it was a good overall design and I could do it in phases or scale back some parts. After all of that, I had / have no intention of hiring Pike's to do my landscaping. I called another company who laid out a design for free at a much more reasonable cost.

Linda knows plants and has design experience. I am an avid gardener and knew from our first conversation that this was a fellow enthusiast. Linda met with me several times to ensure that the plan was exactly as I wanted it. She stayed in contact via email and phone throughout the process. I cannot speak highly enough about Linda and her group. This is the way landscape design should be. The plan I received was a thorough scale drawing which made it very simple to visualize the finished results. The fees were reasonable. They charge on an hourly basis, with a discount given during the slower winter months. Pike also gives a 10% discount on purchases at their nursery to Design Group clients. (My initial contact was a bit odd as the Charlotte phone number was answered by a scheduler at Pike headquarters in Georgia who wasn't all that friendly. Don't be put off; the Charlotte staff, both at the store and the design group, and are terrific.)
